Waifu 2X can be used to make images larger without simply up-scaling them. It's not perfect but it's still somewhat reliable for anime characters, but not backgrounds.

Maybe I'm not ironic of a weeb enough but I never saw the point in putting any of these on my desktop when real life is much more beautiful and highres than shoddily drawn digital art meant to be seen in motion which is why none of it uses framing or lighting interestingly, ignoring all that has been upscaled. None of it beats my current walpaper, which is on a rotation, but it has actual lighting and effort put in.
This all feels so heavily uninspired compared to real-life or professional paintings. Digital art doesn't have any charm. Especially the traced shit, it's not gonna look better than the thing it traced, ever.
