I still pretty much consider Evangelion to be a current franchise. People have never stopped talking about it, and they've never stopped making new things. The series isn't even done, if you consider the Rebuilds to be a thing that matters.

That's true, but the original series did start in the 90's. I don't really consider the Rebuilds to be banking on nostalgia either, but 4.0 might as well be whenever it comes out.

In contrast, Dragon Ball was gone for a while, but Super came back to bank on Dragon Ball nostalgia, no doubt.

I've already started to see nostalgia for the early 2000's, I say give it a few years and a lot of anime from that era will be thought of like many do for the 80's and 90's.

Code Geass got those new movies, but I think they did it a bit too fast. If they waited a few more years, it would have been perfect.

10-20. A decade or two gives enough time for the less loved or mediocre works every season to fade from the memory of most, and a decent amount of time for a favorable series to grow fonder by the people who enjoyed it by a separation of time.

Why are people going ga-ga over Evangelion on Netflix? The series has been readily available in DVD/Blurays for years, why can't you just buy and pop it on your device before Netflix added it? It baffles me, it isn't a more obscure series that you had to torrent/record on a cassette in order to enjoy it again.

You have to consider that many normalfags still balk at piracy and will only watch movies/shows "legally". Also that many just follow trends and will only watch things that are considered hip or popular. Not necessarily. Depends on where you live. There are places (usually Hispanic countries) that have a lot of normalfag weebs and it's more socially acceptable to be into Japanese stuff.

The show was a bit better when it didn't step on the toes of the original, the Kind Country comes to mind. The last episode was pretty good though.
