The last one is at bump limit and is almost off the Catalog, so lets have a thread for all your assorted manga needs.

Ookii Onnanoko wa Suki Desu ka?

A very nice young shota becomes the club manager for his sister's university volleyball team. Lewdness and hijinks involving lewdness abound. Be warned new chapters in English are slow.

Dai Dark

The new manga by Hayashida Q, author of Dorohedoro. "A space series about a protagonist who continually fights against all the aliens who are trying to take his life." Only 2 chapters have been released so far, but the art style is as good as you would expect, and has a nice dark sci-fi feeling to it.

>Be Ruka

>Have most asspull reason for liking MC ever witnessed

>Shoehorned solely by the author as a shitty plot device to create tension (that could've been fulfilled with the Kazuya's dad instead)

>Has no interesting character traits besides being obsessed with MC cause of muh heatbeat.

>Only talents are some basic housewife shit.

>Blackmails MC to like him with a "trial period"

>MC clearly shows almost no interst in you besides one horny occurence

>Somehow start thinking shes his "real" girlfriend now despite no romantic development whatsover and thus should be treated as such

>Continue to constantly force herself into MC's life and singlehandedly stirs the pot everytime she appears

>Despite all this being her own delusions, still feels it's unfair that the feelings don't reciprocate

>Fuck this, let me just force myself on to him

This is "best girl"? Consider never posting again. She is what brought along the dip in quality in the manga, granted it wasn't that good to begin with. I'm just thankful that in this stupid haremshit MC still clearly just wants one girl and isn't constantly swapping his interests despite his constant hesitance, it's his only real positive trait.

>bunch of shit surrounding the character instead of the character itself

All MC would have to do is reject her, tell her that he wants to "break up", to not be her boyfriend, to not want her as his girlfriend. But he doesn't, he's the one leading her on making her believe she might have a chance, while internally chasing this supposed unattainable goddess that he doesn't even believe he's worth nor has a chance with.

Chisuru is 2srs4u who hardly reacts with MC at all or feels like she's part of the manga, her main purpose is for MC to spill his spaghetti on and have internal monologues every other chapter about what a perfect human specimen she is. That shy girl's only character traits are "being cute" and "giving up on MC". Ex is a psycho bitch who still thinks it's alright to stick her nose in MC's business even though she dumped him and basically everything is her fault. So yeah Ruka, the genki girl who gives her all to winning MC, is the best girl. Her main fault is liking that worthless sack of shit.

Well Kazuya doesn't out of consideration for Chizuru, he doesn't trust that she would keep it to herself. Which isn't really that unreasonable considering the first time she met with Kazuya's family she went trigger happy trying to spill the beans which led to Kazuya calling her a compulsive liar. It's reasonable that Kazuya would never reject her in this scenario, cause she's again, blackmailing him and Chizuru. Perhaps you could argue that it's still on Kazuya and Chizuru for letting it all get to this point by allowing this lie of his to go on, that is is karma in a way, but that doesn't make Ruka any less shitty of a person for using it as leverage for her selfish desires. If she actually expects a honest answer considering these conditions she's stupid, so Kazuya expressing disinterest by not inviting her to things and generally should be enough. I respect Ruka's determination but that's about it. It's also worth noting that not only does she force herself into everything but she also actively attempts to complicate or ruin things in his social life such as the time she exploded on Mami without knowing if it would cause him trouble or not or the time she tried to make Chizuru think that they had sex in Kazuyas apartment. I do agree with you that none of the other girls are particularly interesting but Ruka isn't much different in that respect. On top of that however she's a selfish and possesive. All this emotional trauma she might go through is all her doing by forcing them all to play along with her fantasies.

It's a terrible trait, as well. Girls that are proud of their petite bodies, or at least normally confident about it, are ten times more attractive. It goes without saying that these flat chested girls are meant to appeal to people who like flat cheats, so it's almost insulting that said girls almost always consider one of their desirable traits to be a major negative trait. In addition, staying slender is an achievement; growing fat is not.

Anon, just because you get a boner from a pettanko doesn't mean the pettanko has to be happy about not having tits. Igarashi she sees all her friends, they're tall with big boobs, in adult relationships and being treated seriously as grown ups while she's stuck with her loli flat-chest character, her friends toy with her as if she was some cute animal and her love interest treats her like his child. Depends on your criteria. I'm just a bit sick of comedy and romance manga. There's too much of it, and most of them are very similar, the only real difference being the characters.

Even traditional action magazines started to serialize more comedies and romances.

Miura is dead at this point. It's a shame you can't just concede your manga to another artist, which really isn't the best choice, but it's best than waiting for nothing and let the story die.

At this point i'm more concerned about who will make the inevitable Guardians of Desire and Lost Children OVAs (and how shit it's gonna be)

It's a complicated but satisfying feeling. I know forgiving is sacred and all that shit, but you can't help but feel some degree of satisfaction as the situation reaches the logical extreme and the bully gets its just deserts.

That reminds me of that manga (that i can't find now) where the tsundere keeps shitting over a boy, pushing him to another love interest, gets totally BTFO when she confesses her true feelings and ends up crying in a corner.

On one hand, the archetype of the rich who can do whatever the fuck he wants is universally hateable, but on the other hand, these particular panels reek of the author getting his personal revenge on to the detriment of the story. Presenting the manipulative girl as naive and the protagonist as angry and bitter is completely counterproductive to that storyline, and only makes sense if the author is venting a personal anger. To make matters worse, an entire page dedicated to showing the selfish girl in genuine emotional anguish can only downplay the fact the MC's in the right.

The right move for MC would not have been bitter anger, but rather calm stating he wasn't falling for her tricks. Then the girl crying realizing she did have feelings would have had genuine impact without the MC looking like a passive-agressive author self-insert.

Which comes back to worrying about where Siscon Ani to Brocon Imouto does this have an abbreviated title? is going to go, since that's glorification if ever there was any.

The covers don't show what the series is about, and the art itself isn't good enough to warant looking into the manga.

I honestly don't understand the thought process from people like you that I see commenting on every new KO chapter. You all claim to hate the manga and despise the MC yet you go out of your way to read the new chapter every week without fail. I even see shit like this when the raws are released. It shouldn't take ninety chapters to decide whether you like something or not. Unless something drastic happens midway through a series, you should be able to tell when you're about to drop something within the first twenty chapters. The only issue I have with the manga is the awful localization job by the scanlators. Other than that, I look forward to every chapter.

The author stated on Twitter that there were going to be multiple love interests before the manga was even serialized. I think part of the problem is that the majority of complaints are coming from the demographic of people who started reading manga in 2014 and aren't used to imperfect MC's and anything with a length of over 5 volumes/100 chapters. Thankfully, the manga is popular in Japan and will be adapted without a doubt.

>Thankfully, the manga is popular in Japan and will be adapted without a doubt.

It's likely that there's going to be an anime but not certain. The editors at Magazine don't push anime adaptations nearly as much as Jump or anything under Kadokawa. Considering the current situation of Magazine, I wouldn't be surprised if they push for an early adaptation of a battle manga or Runway de Waratte instead of KO.

People don't read it because it's good, people read it because it has potential to be good. Good artstyle that makes the girls look very attractive, unusual context for relationships where MC is allowed to date them whenever, and other interesting aspects (how many romcom harem MCs have an ex girlfriend?). But people are angry because it (mostly MC) squanders that rare potential and it becomes incredibly annoying instead.

>imperfect MC

There's a difference between a character who is a flawed human being and a character that's a flawed piece of writing. Besides paying people to date him he doesn't do anything, he only reacts to things that happen around him, mostly by freaking the fuck out and spilling his spaghetti no matter what happens (including when he's alone and nothing is happening), rejecting any potential plot developments because he's such a pussy faggot, and then calming down for 0.2 seconds during which period amazing girls inexplicably fall in love with him regardless of what an unattractive unlikeable piece of shit he's been thus far. The only development he's written to accept is main girl becoming friendlier to him. Even Ruka becoming a trial girlfriend was decided for him, but he's too much of a fucking faggot to either accept or reject it, and he continues to be too much of a pussy to either accept or reject her despite trial period ending(?), instead he just lets it go on and be decided for him even though he is the DIRECT OBJECT OF THAT EVENT.

You could accept his personality if he was a person and grew as a character through the events he goes through or gains new ways of thinking or reacting to things, but he doesn't. Almost 100 chapters in and you might as well be starting here as far as his character goes.

If you want a harem romcom manga with "length of over 5 volumes/100 chapters" and a faggy MC that isn't complete shit, read pic related instead.

Anon, scroll up a bit, some anons were shitting on MC for being a massive passive faggot. FMC doesn't give him the time of the day and has her as back up guy and 2 other chicks develop a crush on him for the most stupid reasons. One tries too hard and forced herself on MC, looking as desperate the other is pretty much in the background just being muh shy girl. MC is too much of a faggot to reject the forceful girl even when he only likes FMC.

It's a massive clusterfuck full of forced drama yet almost no development and it's all because MC never has the balls to say no when he should.

You mean the web-novel? The manga is fucking great and the anime looks like shit.

 No.926347

>>926343

The manga is really bad. Anything that uses skills so literally and in such a way as to remove agency outside of them is harmful. To use LH as an example. Log Horizon characters had skills, but Log Horizon wasn't "I have [heat resistance 1] so I can totally endure being next to this pit of lava that I could not endure before getting this skill" but "I have [tank skill] so I can use it to draw enemies" and let the encounter play out organically by removing the game element outside of the nature of the skill itself. Heresy-spider and a lot of other lazy isekai use the skills to artificially constrict what characters can do, and also uses it as a lazy way to demonstrate improvement in characters. Take a look at that ridiculous list of skills. What does it even mean for MC to have "stealth level 2" as opposed to "stealth level 1" or "stealth level 3"? How does this actually look in use? How does MC demonstrate this new capability that they did not have before? What does "Wind resistance level 6" look like? What does it mean to have level 6 but not level 7? Nothing, except stat screen fodder to provide a certain illusion of activity, growth and capability you will never get to see meaningfully.

The manga also suffers from the fact that the story is narrated as either a replay-of-events("I found an X did Y and my skill Z also leveled up" and these are always boring and uninteresting moments that only serve to enhance stat screen filler) or an account of current events which are dominated by stat screen filler("I'll use X skill to handle Y situation. The skill [worked/didn't work] so now I will do Z"). There is zero attention paid to developing the character(i.e how does the character react emotionally, not just intellectually? How does this encounter provide an avenue for them to come closer to their goal/reevaluate their goal/learn something about themselves or another? In fact, most of the manga is entirely filler. I stopped reading around chp 18 and nothing was of any substance), but only to developing the stat screen which is assumed to be identical with developing the character. That might work for a person playing an RPG because they can immediately pretend they are the character, and choose what to do and how to act, but in a manga that follows a character the reader doesn't define it comes off as extremely lazy, boring, uninspired, unoriginal etc

In other words, if you think heresy spider is good you have shit taste.

 No.926350

>>926347

Agreed for the most part. I would label works like heresy spider as junk food manga at best, to be enjoyed when you want brain dead fun. The light novel is so awful it doesn't even qualify as that, however.

It is comfy in the same way as Hakumei to Makochi and is the first Isekai i've seen in a long time not including Truck Kun or someone dying in their sleep, rpg bullshit or "given a cheat". Its just people getting spirited away to another world at a countryside trainstation where demi humans are everywhere and its heart healing soothing manga.

Just finished Karate Shoukoushi, and I'm a bit torn on the series. It had some potential, but the series lacked polish and a clear vision. The fights in particular aren't that great. It's too much Yamato-damashii, I'm gonna get punched until I throw a single counter that decides the match. But even excluding that, the fights suffer from bad paneling and the author can't properly evoke a sense of movement. I never got the feeling as if the characters are actually moving, the manga feels like a slideshow. The only reasons why my eyes jumped naturally to the next panel, is that I am an avid manga reader and that the author primarily uses 2-4 giant panels per page. The writing has some issues, there were multiple fights of a certain character against foreigners, and almost all of these fights followed a very similar pattern. Subverting the readers expectations by revealing that the arrogant gaijin is a nice and cool person might work once, but not multiple times.

Despite being five hundred chapters long and having a sequel (haven't read it, and it has different main characters), it's very likely that the series got axed.

Now to the positives, the art is good. Some of the fights have great set-ups, and many of the characters are likeable. Kohinata (MC) is developing throughout the series, and the events of the manga have an actual impact on him as a character. Besides that the girls are cute, and there's some good fanservice. In the end it's a decent series and enjoyable, but I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't a big fan of martial arts or action manga.

Anyone else reading Alice in hell? It's set in a desert post-apocalypse, similar to desert punk. It's also got the same kind of deranged protag that Matsumoto Jiro is so well known for. I still wish someone would translate Assault girls, though.

I just finished reading Alien9 (there was a thread about it a few months ago that caught my interest).

It's a fantastic comic from the late 90s, the art and story are a feast for the imagination. The main character was a bit draining to begin with, but I had more sympathy for her as things progressed.

Another one in the category of 'bad things happening to small girls'.

Since this is the debut onshot of the mangaka, I have high expectations for his future works. A positive is that the oneshot was published in Harta, which is one of the best manga magazines out there ( Dungeon Meshi, Otoyomegatari, Hakumei to Mikochi, Hinamatsuri). And it's certainly the magazine with the best covers. The covers aren't about any series in the magazine, instead they assign one of their mangaka to draw & write an original four page cover story. Another special thing about Harta is that they don't accept author & artist teams. Every manga must be drawn and written by the same person.

Well thank you, that's very interesting. I knews that Dungeon Meshi, Otoyomegatari and Hakumei to Mikochi all get published in the same magand that it has 10issues/year but that's about it. Too bad I'll never get to read those cover stories.

>Another special thing about Harta is that they don't accept author & artist teams. Every manga must be drawn and written by the same person.

Good because this is one of the strongest points of manga. I'd even say having different authors and artists is a problem with most westernshit and isekai manga.

So I have had the flu for the past few days and have not been able to get out of bed, and decided to binge a bunch of manga and LNs to pass the time.

>Heterogeneous Linguistics

A fantasy manga about a linguist who is filling in for his elderly master as he goes to visit with the various demi human tribes and learn their customs. Cute loli half werewolf, and very interesting takes on how all the different monsters communicate. I like it a lot.

>Isekai Yakkyoku

Isekai with more of a modern than typical fantasy, sort of midway renaissance feel. Full of the standard medical stuff you see in these types of stories, from antibiotics to inventing modern-ish tools to revolutions in hygiene. It also has OP healing magic stuff. Passable for its niche genre.

>Kamitachi ni Hirowareta Otoko

Completely standard fare isekai story with an overpowered reincarnated protag. It had a somewhat interesting opening few chapters but seems to be playing out exactly how you would expect. I have a soft spot for beast taming and slimes though, so I have stuck with it.

>29-sai Dokushin Chuuken Boukensha no Nichijou

Adventurer adopts a little girl as his daughter when he finds her in a dungeon. She is cute and incompetent and tickles the daughteru bone inside of us all. Decently funny and different enough to distinguish itself from the rest of the stories with a similar premise.

>Nicola no Oyururi Makai Kikou

Little girl and her demon companion travel the demon world and have adventures. Cute girl and charming streetwise demon merchant avoid the authorities and woo demons and spirits alike. Fun read with a cute girl.

I also read through a bunch of Manhwa but I dont really see them posted about much on these threads of /a/ in general, so I figured saving them for a second post was the best way to go about it.

>A Returner's Magic Should Be Special

Time travel modern fantasy story around a main character with his own super special personal magic trying to prevent the deaths of all of his friends and loved ones. Its got a school setting which I dont really care for but the action is drawn well and there is a red head sniper tsundere so I guess it is fine.

>Gosu (The Master)

Dude is trained by the stongest martial artist in the land to avenge his defeat, but when he sets out he finds that the man he was tasked to kill is dead. Then he becomes a dumpling delivery man. Great comedy martial arts manhwa. I really liked this one. Full of great reaction images.

>Survive as the Hero's Wife

Chick gets reincarnated into a noble villainess character in a otome type setting and tries to survive the day to day political machinations of the fight for succession and evil step mother queen character while she is engaged to the good guy main protag. Pretty standard cut and dry stuff for this type of genre. I have been reading a lot of the Vinainess reincarnation stories lately because its one of the few genres in fantasy I have not read most of the stuff for, and it is pretty middling to lower middling in that genre.

>This Girl is a Little Wild

The ikeman hero (female) of the realm fights the demon lord, but her soul is swapped with a maiden's who was a sacrifice. Her original body dies and she lives on in the daughter of a Duke, debating if she should go back to the church and have to train hard and long with no life again, or settle down and live life as a normal girl and find love. Gets engaged to the autistic captain of the special forces unit and they are both entertaining. It is Korean so it has that hyper dramatic style to all of the drama, but it is bearable in this because the main cast are all entertainingly autistic.

>Peerless Dad

Probably the best Manhwa I have ever read (not saying much I've not read many), I implore you to read it if you like buff martial arts guys fighting and not being super ultra over the top but still being strong and awesome. Dude is the student of one of the great demon generals without really knowing it, and later in life gets married and has three kids he needs to provide for. Its really a good story and I am glad I read it.

>From Maid to Mother

JK gets isekai'd and works as a maid in a fantasy world. One day a nobleman hires her to act as mother for his adopted daughter.

>Somali to Mori no Kami-sama

Humans are almost extinct in that world. A golem finds a human loli and they travel together.

>Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita

MC gets isekai'd as Artorias Greatsword. He chooses a catgirl as his daughter/wielder.

>Taimashi to Akuma-chan

A healing story about an exorcist and a devilgirl.

>Majo ga Kudasu Tettsui Malleus Maleficarum

>It's my Life

A former knight captain finally retires after years of loyal service. But then a little witch crashlands into his home and wants to be his servant because she thinks he's the Evil God.

>Majo ga Kudasu Tettsui Malleus Maleficarum

The idea had potential, of a yandere witch in a setting where their power increases when they have feelings of love, but the execution has not been great. It gives the impression that the author expected to be axed at any moment and was writing under the worry that any given chapter might be the fourth-last. And that's exactly what was going on; serialization wasn't confirmed until chapter 4, and in chapter 7 was an announcement that "further serialization" had been confirmed.

A good story needs to flow well from beginning to end. It can work for the beginning of a story to be chaotic and set an overall tone that events are spiralling out of everyone's control, but at the same time the beginning of a story sets its foundation, and I think in this case the early chapters were too jumbled and unstable.

Kirara manga about a shy girl named Hitori, who wants to join a band. She's a more relatable loner than Bocchi. Is this a cooking thread? I'll share how I make Japanese style curry. I shared this on /ck/ not too long ago.

- Cut 900g of chicken tighs into pieces, put on salt and pepper.

- Fried them in a large pan in two batches until browned on the outside, before setting them aside.

- Deglaze the pan with half an onion, chopped, with a pinch of salt and a small splash of water. Just fry it until the onion has absorbed the fond before setting it aside.

- Put two heaped spoons of flour in the pan and enough butter to make it liquid.

- Browned the flour until deep brown, before slow adding water (flour and butter frying may look very runny. However, it thickens up the moment you add water. Use a wooden spatula when making the roux, plastic ones usually can't handle the heat and start melting).

- I added the chicken, one onion (half fried, half raw), three carrots and three potatoes in the pot, all diced. I filled up with water until the chicken and vegetables were just about covered.

- Added a chicken buillon, three cloves of garlic, and about a teaspoon of ginger. The ginger and garlic were crushed in a garlic press.

- Added a large teaspoon of tomato puree and some soy sauce.

- Added onion powder, paprika, chilli powder, curry powder, salt, MSG and aromat to taste, let it simmer until the potatoes were soft.

Had it with white rice.

I dont think I like cyclical threads. I feel pressured to check back way too often in case I miss out on the one post a with a good manga i'm unaware of.

 No.927098

I don't think /a/ moves fast enough for that to be a concern.

I don't like it either though. At the very least it could have started with a new dedicated OP instead of just turning one random manga thread cyclical.

>>927098

I don't like it either, primarily because content gets deleted, i mean you can still go back and look at this thread from half a year ago https://8ch.net/a/res/883262.html, but you can't tell what i am quoting now >>923988.

 No.927113

Agreed. Cyclicals are incompatible with the archive. It was fine the way it was before.

 No.927116

Seems like I am in the minority here, but I prefer the cylical threads. The manga thread always has a downtime when switchting to a new thread. Many anons stop using the thread when it hits the bump limit.

The manga thread was semi-dead for 1/3 of its uptime with the old model.

Making the thread cyclical fixed this.

>>927098

>At the very least it could have started with a new dedicated OP instead of just turning one random manga thread cyclical.

That's something I agree with, if /a/ switches to a cyclical it should be a new manga thread specifically made with the intention to be a cyclical.

>>927113

>Cyclicals are incompatible with the archive

The archive can't load most images, which makes it incompatible with a thread that relies heavily on images.

Also, we should move any further discussion about this to /ameta/. There's no reason to derail the manga thread with this.

The Legendary Musings of Professor Munakata

A folklore scholar travels Japan to investigate local myths and how they could be tied to actual historical events. It's grounded and not too far fetched, but it's still pretty supernatural since you've got titans appearing by chapter 6. Still fairly nice to read through, even though there is the occasional folklore infodump.

Caught up with Chihayafuru and finished Billy Bat and Boys on the Run recently.

Chihaya was pretty good. It started off weak but grew more interesting as the stakes got higher and as they introduced more characters. I'd describe it as a mixture between 3gatsu and Haikyuu. It has the compassion from 3gatsu and the camaraderie from haikyuu.

Billy Bat was never boring to read as Urasawa is very good at keeping you hooked but it felt too long winded. It should've concluded earlier. But I guess the ending wasn't that bad in comparison with his other stuff.

Boys on the run was hard to read. Kengo's main character are too inept, it's making me want to kill myself. Despite that it was a fun read.
