Usually nothing, since cleaning is hard when you have no artistic skill and typesetting is a pain when you have no design sense. I tend to stick to LNs.

But, you motivated me OP. I got around to finishing something I've been meaning to translate for a long time. A literal shitposting isekai manga.

Yep. And that anon was probably also me.

Roots is a professional shitposter. He has several crappy 4komas running, I think he streams or used to stream on nico, and now he's even making his own "anime" adaptation of one of his older manga using live 2D. Most of it I find pretty shitty, but from what I've seen he and his stuff is pretty popular with nips, by internet standards at least.

Isn't that cover in Dungeon Meshi itself a reference to a D&D cover or something?

Could be. DM is heavily inspired by old school D&D but I can't recall any cover that really looks like this.

I way mainly referring to the color scheme and whole "posing with his tools of trade" thing.

I feel you.

At the moment I've decided to confine myself to the very easiest works. The doujin I'm currently doing is entirely narration nicely contained in rectangular boxes. No shouts, no out-of-bubble asides, no variations in typeface or colour or texture. No sense of aesthetics needed.

I think it gets a little bit better with the serialization. Roots' art is still amateurish but for a manga about pooing it can look pretty nice at times. I certainly would watch the anime short if it got one if it had Grimgar-tier backgrounds.

While I'm at it, I might as well ask: How the fuck do you clean things on a screentone background?

>board doesn't allow NSFW loli

Such a large amount of yuri content is loli that it's absolutely stupid to ban it. Whether it's classics like Nanoha or more recent popular stuff like Kobayashi. Limiting relevant discussion because of your own personal agenda or preferences is not the mark of a board I'd ever want to visit. I'd much rather deal with some of the extraneous off-topics than that. If I wanted to be limited by moderator's personal opinions, I'd go to 4/u/. Especially considering that even there you can get away with some level of loli-porn posting.

>How the fuck do you clean things on a screentone background?

Clone stamp tool. It also helps a lot when the raws are scanned well and you don't have moire patterns forming or the scanner's inbuilt image compression fucking up the pattern. The level beyond this is when you get sick of clone stamping, and you collect large areas of patterns that you can copy-paste in. Use layer masks to make them only cover what is necessary.

Sometimes a screentone pattern still stands out from the unedited background. This is often due to a contrast in the overall brightness between the two. Something that helps is to use a very soft brush with the opacity set to 1 or 2 percent, in addition or subtraction blending mode, to slightly adjust the brightness of the piece of screentone until it matches the background.

Off-topic Between the loli ban and the fact that the original moderators leaving was due to too much /pol/ stuff for them to deal with, I suspect /yuri/ is less "/u/ without any politics" and more "/u/ with our preferred brand of shitty politics".

I did omit furigana whenever the reading worked by itself, such as with the "Aqua Slash" >>913838 but they keep using weird made-up words that don't really tell you what they mean. If I just ignore them and leave only the actual meaning it feels like losing some of the depth in the translation, especially since it seems to be a distinguishing thing about this manga and I want to retain the weirdness and dumbness of Japanese made-up fantasy words whenever I can. but if I just use the furigana readings it would end up confusing since I don't think it's really intuitive that "Encha Mapinion" is supposed to mean a magic map.

Nothing but I finally got around to reading a fan scan of V-Saga and I'm annoyed by all the vulgarity, because that is not time period accurate. People like that Czech who made Kingdom Come don't realize that obscenities and expletives are not something religious, especially highly-superstitious people are known to do. Those words are considered bad for a reason, but "everyone does it now so clearly they've always done it!".

Now, I'm saying they didn't at all, as people are different, and you're bound to find a colorful character or two. But if you want proof that people won't curse when in a dire situation or in pain, watch that guy Coyote Peterson (I think that was his name anyway) on YouTube have bugs painfully bite him. While they may edit out any certain curses, he does a pretty good job of not cursing, and they don't really jumpcut that much (at least the two I saw) during the biting-pain scenes.

A question. Are there any commissionable translation services these days that are good to use? I have historically used SaHa and desudesu0 and a couple of other ones, but they're both gone, and I'm totally out of the loop as far as doujin works. I'm specifically interested in a script-only translation for certain Neptunia works, because someone on Nepgen is interested in doing the actual typesetting and such, but failing that I'll do that part.

>>913472

Seconding this. It's honestly quite impressive what you can get done with clone tool, and a bit of ingenuity.

>>914737

Fair warning they're all H works, they just have cuter parts because for whatever reason Blanc attracts more vanilla and sweetness than the rest, the majority of Neptunia doujinshi are horrible. If you're still happy to do them I won't knock it back. Still though it'd be nice to know for future reference if there's any commission options out there. In particular, I won't expect you to do the lengthy author commentary on these which is normally something I'd ask for when commissioning.

That said I'll confirm which were the priority or if they'd prefer some of the official works stuff done instead. These 3 were linked though and of interest to the typesetter, and the image I posted was from #3. All of them are pretty short around 20 images.

Honestly these raws are high enough resolution that I could have probably made the text smaller so it always fits in the speech bubbles, but since I'm already covering up some of the art with the text that's laid directly over the panels I figured I might as well make it easier to read even if I have to go out of the panels a little.

Just make sure you're using a font that doesn't have retardedly wasteful line spacing by default because a lot of them do, or if you do have to use one try to modify the line spacing yourself. You'll want all the vertical space you can get.

>Lowee Church

I'm not totally sure if this is meant to be Basilicom, that's generally how the place the Goddesses reside in is named in the games.

>H-Hey, this is the Nepgear that showed up in Reverse 3! (explanation tone)

I had to see the next line to understand the odd wording. I don't actually remember the name of Nepgear's invention but I can check that in-game with the Re;translation. Also it's Re;birth 3.

>We also need to plug this alpha test Kashatt (Casette [TN: More likely cartridge]) into the

Nepgear.

I'm assuming "cartridge" is correct.

Oh, and it's pretty clear that the author enjoyed 4GO it references pretty much all the silly events in that game. Unfortunately his afterword makes me a bit salty since he fell for mobile's siren song.

Nips use question marks in weird ways. It's more of a tone of voice thing than a grammar thing, so you can have phrases that end in one but translate as statements in English or vice versa, where the Japanese ends with a か and no punctuation at all or even a 。and in English it ends up being a question.

>do you want any form of credit

I believe the feeling is mutual. You can't build a house without a foundation, and it's also meaning a lot to me that you'd do this even though the works themselves aren't so great. Unfortunately the series gets little attention, and most of the works that know about the games focus on the worst content. I can usually forgive middling artwork if the content is sweet like these.

Also there's no hurry to do #3 even if you want to. I'm going to be delaying #2 a bit after #1, and that's already going slowly. I'm not at all artistic.

KebabRemover's uploads seem decent but the other two who worked on the series are shit. I guess it wouldn't make sense to start remaking old chapters before finishing the manga though.

I'll try to get caught up with what's already been translated and then I can start on the new ones. In a couple of days, maybe? My schedule is kind of weird.

How should I get the translations to you, Anon? Should I put them in a pastebin or something and post them in this thread or should I contact you directly somehow? Any better ideas for formatting them then just writing out the speech bubbles? Do you want me to try to translate the sfx? It's not my strong suit so I might not know how to handle a lot of them.

It'd be harder to do the SFX but there's not many of those in those works it seems, and the rest of it is beginner-level as far as cleaning and typesetting. Colour pick, feather edge select text, fill for white bubbles, or just paint over them. If the background is uneven that's where you need the clone tool and a decent eye and display to make sure it is fairly seamless. This is where having a good screen is important, and like it's a world of difference between my spare X200 systems and the X200 Tablet I use day-to-day. Just have your edits on their own layer, and make sure the original page layer is protected. In GIMP you can make things like the clone tool based on the composite image not what's on a layer, same with the colour picker.

If the page is a high DPI scan to the point you can see the ink dots, I normally also do a gaussian blur. 3.0 for this, it depends on the resolution. I normally add NL filter edge enhancement to that as well

Example source file of a finished page attached (it's a .zip archive this is a trick for uploading arbitrary files). I just use GIMP. Most manga uses WildWords font, there's quite a lot of that in this thread. The >>914724 page from the other anon uses Tomcat for text and Comic Sans MS for SFX, I opted to just use Tomcat, and Utopia for storyline text. Ideally SFX, especially major ones, are re-drawn in the style of the original but you need to be able to actually draw to do that. Plebs like myself ignore the majority because they're also a lot of extra work as far as cleaning goes too, and really, in my case あああ♥ is not exactly hard to figure out.

I'm working with a typesetter, editor AND cleaner who offered generously to give me a hand on a series I was about to give up on, but they tend to drastically change the scripts I give them. Not just fixing typos or changing the text order to make it more natural (i.e. when a line is broken over multiple speech bubbles) but pretty much complete rewrites that often drop information that was present in the original. I usually go over my own scripts two or three times to make them as natural sounding as possible without losing any of the author's tone or vocabulary, but I do tend towards accuracy over naturalness. Generally no key plot points or anything are dropped and the tone isn't changed significantly, additionally since I proofread before submitting I can ask them to rework stuff which they comply with for the most part, but I try to limit pushing them to stick to the original script since they're doing the majority of the hard work and I wouldn't be continuing without their help anyway. Frankly the situation isn't too bad at the moment (I've had some minor professional experience managing groups etc. so I'm making diplomatic and carefully phrased requests and not just obstinately telling them to change it), but I am concerned that this could cause issues down the line.

Does anyone here have any similar experiences? Is this just normal and something I need to get used to working with groups? Do you feel that I should try to maintain accuracy to the original script or just focus on presentation to an English speaking viewership? Are there some things I should be aware of that might result in issues in the future?

I suppose in the end it wouldn't be any loss to me personally, but it would be a shame if the series were to stop translation, or otherwise become a total rewrite, so any advice that someone here might have I'd appreciate.

 No.921897

>>921893

That group sounds like a ticking time bomb. As translator you know best what it should translate to, and if they change things contrary to your advice then I can't imagine it going well for long. I even tend to prefer natural sounding lines over completely accurate ones, but if it were me I'd try to find more cooperative people to help.

 No.921904

>>921897

Oh I should probably reiterate that first line, I meant it's a -single person- doing literally every single job except for translation, sometimes I clean up the simpler text boxes, but that's the extent of it. Plus it's not exactly as if I'm N1 or anything, I'd be lucky to scrape in a pass on N2 on a good day, on a bad day I might even fail to reach N3, nor am I a pulitzer writer in English or anything. Frankly if it were a larger group I would just poiltely leave, but as it stands with just the two of us we're balancing well enough. You are right though, there is definitely cause for some concern at the least.

>I'd try to find more cooperative people to help.

He's definitely co-operative and listens to my advice, but only after I give it to back during proofreading. When I hand him a script the first time hardly a single line is left unchanged, even if nothing is neccessarily changed for the worse it's a bit disconcerting. It could just be that I'm really awful at writing and I just don't know it though? I usually get a lot of typos and other oddities with the rewritten lines though, so I can't imagine he would be a dramatically better writer than I am, but it's possible?

I'd probably flip my shit a little if I was in your place, Anon. Did they ever give you a reason for why they change your scripts?

>Do you feel that I should try to maintain accuracy to the original script or just focus on presentation to an English speaking viewership?

That's really the stickiest issue in translation, isn't it? With anime I think there is absolutely no excuse to not go for 100% accuracy in subtitles, since you have vocal and (more) visual cues to convey a lot of the things you can't through dialogue alone, but for manga it's a lot thornier. My philosophy is to play it by ear most of the time, judging mostly on how important something is. If there's what looks to be a one-off joke pun or something, I think it's acceptable to change it from the original as long as you maintain the same tone and a similar theme. If something looks like it's going to come up a lot and in different contexts or is just really important to the setting, then it's better to make it accurate. Put in a TL note and you might have a bit of awkwardness once because of that, but once the reader gets past it everyone can be on the same page and you never have to worry about explaining it or twisting your brain to come up with some way to adapt the thing in every single instance it shows up in.

I don't know what advice to give you other than "don't work with faggots". If you can be diplomatic and have a good line of communication with them, maybe try sort of supervising the process and making it clear what's really important and shouldn't be changed and where it's acceptable, maybe even doing the rephrasing yourself if you can. It's a tall order but you could try learning how to do your own cleaning and typesetting, I suppose. It would pay off over the long term.

If there's a loss of information, you should make him notice that, add some comments pointing out that this or that shouldn't not be ommited. Otherwise, maybe add some Translation notes or explanation at the end of the chapter but if they're skipping shit, it could bite them in the ass later on.

Yes, one thing I've started doing is trying to translate more fluidly, making the compromise on my end rather than through the editor so that they're less likely to change the line. My hope is that if I'm translating loosely that whatever intuition I've picked up for Japanese will help preserve content that could be interpreted in multiple different contexts, or affecting future scenes in a particular way, but I'm concerned about taking some of the lines which are more ambigious in Japanese and changing them into a more specific form in English because it sounds more natural.

>It's a tall order but you could try learning how to do your own cleaning and typesetting

Well, it's definitely possible, but the situation arose from me lacking the time and energy (and competence to do a good job quickly) that led to seeeking support from others. I probably wouldn't continue the series if I was working individually. Not to mention that they really do do a good job of typesetting, much better than what I was doing.

>>921908

>add some comments pointing out that this or that shouldn't not be ommited.

Thank you, that's a good idea really. I have a partly done script that I've been including some notes for the typesetter/editor/cleaner that have extremely literal translations of the lines so he can see the thought process behind writing them. I'm not sure if that sort of thing will help much, but with any luck it should reduce the 'Chinese whispers' effect of running the text through author>translater>editor>reader and losing content.

Thank you for your advice, it's helpful to aggregate opinions to figure out what the best action to take is instead of just relying on my own. Again it's just a sort of mildly baffling situation rather than anything critical, so any input anyone has is appreciated.

It's an alright font, but why are the full stops little squares? Is the font glitchy or incomplete or something? Aside from that, perhaps reduce the line spacing. You have things like "intended." in the second panel and "command..." in the last panel butting up against the edges of speech bubbles.

>why are the full stops little squares

All of the punctuation looks blockish, dashes and apostrophes and so on. I'd say the typeface is probably incomplete, and his editor is falling back on a default.

Apparently it's missing the period and tilde and such since it's a demo-only font. I like it as a general typeface but I'm wondering if I shouldn't just be using good-old WildWords. But I'm more inclined to do that for the ones I'm using Utopia for...

>>921964

...So I'll test that, and I've never heard of Augie until now.

>>921893

I'd worry but it depends on the motivation. If they don't respect your translation and it is correct, then there's a problem. Even if they're just doing it to ease the typesetting though, there are always ways around it. With regard to the Nep stuff I'm doing I only change things that are wrong in context of a translation (Komiket), or stem from lack of knowledge of the series (Vert being named "Bell") but leave the rest as-is and just adjust the font size, and add manual linebreaks, or if necessary, hyphen-break words to make it all fit nicely.

In regards to >>921915 the editing side of it is highly variable depending on what extent you intend, whether you're artistic, and the work in question. If you're just dealing with plain white dialogue bubbles that's brain-dead easy. But it can get much more annoying. By far the greatest autism I've seen was whoever did [Takaku-Ya] Extend Party 2 where almost all the text is in translucent bubbles across 60-something pages, and they were cleaned properly. Not just whited out or blurred or cheated around.

I use a pirated photoshop so I can't help you with your GIMP troubles but I would recommend you to shrink the text a bit so it doesn't touch the border of its containers. Take into account you don't really have to occupy the whole space in the speech bubbles. I shrunk the text and in my opinion, it's easier to read than before.

I horizontally scaled the augie font to 95% so it's more narrow, I don't know if you can also do that on GIMP.

https://mega.nz/#F!ZItDBAAb!ymBruHzMaLaiK1UWK1ZwBQ

Page 04: I believe the pink out-of-bubble text in second image related wasn't in the script, is it just some sort of SFX?

Page 05: Third image: I initially looked to see if the name of that bit of hardware was mentioned in the anime and couldn't find it, online apparently it's the "Manect" (obviously named after the piece of crap that was the Kinect) but I think you just mis-translated "RisoBox". リーンボックス = Leanbox, the name of the nation of Vert/Green Heart representing the Microsoft consoles.

>>922082

When adding text I largely care about a minimum font size so it's legible at scale-to-height viewing in my manga viewer even if it means splitting words up I think it's a good tradeoff, and it's fairly common in most translations I've read. I'll fiddle with line spacing, extra newlines, font size, and word splitting to make it fit nicely as I can. But your idea of scaling the width is actually a good one I might use for a few since this font is wider than Tomcat. The text tool only allows glyph spacing adjustment not glyph width, but the basic scale tool can be used in lieu of that.

It's a combination of having zero good scans to use, lack of mainstream appeal (aka, it's not isekai, fanservice, or generic shounen power level stuff) and there is one group that is slowly trickling out missing chapters, but they've also made the mistake of jumping between major arcs of the series while trying to keep the latest chapters coming out too.

Lastly, if there just so happens to be anyone who likes this enough to want to help me typeset it I'd be very open to it... Frankly this took me nearly a month of on and off picking at to finish on account of how slow I am to typeset and I'd probably only get another chapter or two done on my own.

Either way hope someone enjoys!

 No.928623

The only real advice I have is to make sure text is centred vertically, you can use the move tool in GIMP to shift the text around to that end. But for the most part it looks good. What fonts are you using? Also at that standard I'm happy to have a go at the editing side.

 No.928624

>>928613

I've been using a font scheme I lifted directly from another typesetter that helped me on something else, standard text is Felt, handwritten is Augie and the text for weakly spoken lines is Another. Are there any lines that are really badly centered in particular? I moved text around a lot to make it all fit nicely but I was just judging by eye rather than using any specific method for centering. As far as editing goes what would you expect me to provide for you? It doesn't take too long for me to do a translation and basic cleaning, but redraws are pretty hard (you can see I gave up totally on 008 and skipped a lot of other handwritten text), setting text also seems to take me longer than it really should. Just let me know though, I'm happy to get any help I can!

Thank you!

As a more general note and a question directed to anyone around, I forgot to work out a way to localise 'A hana is better than a hannya', I'd rather not include something as asinine as "TN: hana = flower if u wer japns ud kno this" but I can't really think of any way to get the pseudo-pun across nicely.

It's not anything too major but like these for example, it feels like it's positioned to the shape the bubble would be if not clipped by the manga panels, not the space it actually occupies. Hopefully that explanation makes sense. I just do movement by eye too. I also sometimes adjust other parameters if it's really hard to fill in a bubble.

>As far as editing goes what would you expect me to provide for you?

I'm probably only going to do cleaning/editing up to your standard, maybe a bit better. With that understanding, if you know the series I just need the script (indicate pages), and if they're not on Madokami or Exhentai, a source for raws.

Oh yes I see that now, perhaps I was doing it subconciously? Either way I'll try to keep that in mind. As far as the script goes, would you be okay with .xcf files with partially formatted text in the general location of SFX and bubbles? This is usually the easiest way for me to do it, but I can always do solo scripts if the xcfs would cause you too much work (compatability with psd?). I believe uploading of zips renamed to pdf or swf works on 8chan so I can either upload them directly here, or to any other upload site as well. As an aside feel free to use whichever font you feel is most appropriate for the text, I've put some of the fonts in but I didn't put a lot of thought into the appropriate or best looking font for each piece of text so they don't need to be followed exactly or anything. Lastly I've done the script to the best of my ability but if you feel something is wrong or I've used an awkward sound for an SFX I have no reservations about it being changed.

Unexpected. I had to update GIMP to open them. Continuing tomorrow but here's an idea of what it'll look like.

>locking

You can lock individual layers. The source image should be untouched, any re-drawing/erasing should be on its own layer. Similarly, text and drop shadow in their own layer group.

>fonts

Felt looks nice, I'll use it as a main but the copy I found doesn't have ~.

 No.929594

>>929586

Odd about the update, no need to rush, what you've done looks great! As far as locking goes, you're saying I should lock each layer individually? I locked the layer group thinking that would lock all the layers inside but if not I'll try to remember to do each one manually next time. I do like Felt but I think it really doesn't have a tilde(~), at first I thought maybe there was a problem with my version since it keeps showing up as 'Felt weight=101' rather than 'Felt Regular'. I was planning on trying to fix my install of it but if you're having the same issue I might need to rethink using it. Changing the font type everytime you need to put a tilde isn't really efficient and this series seems to use it a lot.

After trying in over half a dozen different programs and getting either no results (blocked at export function due to some copyright issue which requires a paywalled version of open source software), broken results (exporting to otf instead of ttf and kerning getting screwed with spaces no longer working at all) I'm doubting I'll be able to do it. I'm sure someone familiar with font editing wouldn't have an issue but it really shouldn't be this difficult to jam a squiggly line made of vectors into something. However, when I went to download a fresh copy I got a different version by accident which already has a tilde in it.

I guess at least I learnt something new?

Looks great! I would've had to resort to writing a note to the side so you've done a good job.

Also, looking at the SFX on this page here I realise I've made a mistake, whenever someone entered the Magitelier there's a 'Karan, Karan' (カラン カラン) sound, at first I thought this was an odd chime sound and wrote 'jingle jingle' but it's actually much more likely to be something like 'rattle rattle' from the door opening or closing. I'm not really against using a chime sound in English to make it clear what the sound implies, but it's likely an overlocalisation. Either way it's a minor point so I leave it up to your discretion how to deal with it, feel free to even skip over it if it's not really worth the time, I usually just translate everything for completion's sake rather than because it really needs to be included.

Nice work! Don't worry about the schedule or anything, I'm still only done for a few pages on the translation for the next chapter. How do you feel about italicising SFX and other written text? I tend to do so, I suppose because it helps differentiate sounds and additional text from the main spoken text. I did a really quick example here re-editing a few bits on the page, I also experimented with using Augie bolded for the handwritten text and tried using Another for the 'Starving Skeleton' text at the bottom. At the moment I think I like it this way, but I'm not totally sold and I wouldn't be surprised if this makes it harder to read and it's just a bias on my part. Either way let me know what you think, send me the .xcfs when you're done and I can make these changes if you like them too.

Also, one important note, but I was deliberately including Maria's "Yjes"s to help communicate part of her character. She still has an accent, wherein she will 'speak' in Katakana rather than hira or kanji, to show that her intonation sounds unnatural in some way or other (kata speech is also often used for things such as very tired or scared characters, robots, vengeful ghosts etc.) so if you see a 'Yjes' or other slightly misspoken word (by Maria) it's often done intentionally, especially if italicised. Although there are a few other instances were her accent comes out (ニガテ came up instead of 苦手 or にがて somewhere) I generally only keep it to situations where it's very obvious that her accent is coming through to avoid making the script too confusing or broken looking.

>formatting

Consistency is one issue I need to nail down. I've gone something like Augie for sign posts, bolded WildWords for motivation gauge, and Feld for the rest. But, if you are also typesetting I'd prefer consistency in what we present. My thoughts though, I think italics for pure SFX makes sense, but out-of-bubble text is already differentiated and should be like normal text. Also I'll fix the "Yjes" like I said I don't know this manga at all.

 No.930137

>>930081

Great, I definitely felt like the SFX looked a bit odd but I think you might be right about the handwritten text. I still kind of like Another as a special case for the skeleton text since it's somewhat similar in style to what is written on the banner but it might become messy from including too many different styles. I can do some typesetting after all, it does take me a very long time (like I mentioned before I spent nearly a month on and off doing the first chapter) but I'm more than happy to help with it if I can. Lastly thank you for fixing the 'yjes's! I really felt like that was important in accurately conveying the author's original intent to keep those.

I found some raws of Shuujin Riku and was thinking of scanlating it, but like always, I can't find a translator for it. Could you give it a peek and see if you would be interested in working on it? The group that picked it up died 6 years ago so there's only 4 chapters scanlated.

Not to worry, I've been going slow lately too, the weather was very odd where I live the last few days and I think I caught a bit of a cold. As for the line I believe it says 'I like Yoriko's clothes too!', though I might be inclined to translate it more along the line of 'I like the clothes Yoriko makes too!', which I think is a bit closer in the nuance. Though I might need to double check since the handwritten kanji are sometimes a bit awkward to read and my Japanese is far from native level. Oh also, loli-ko is missing a line 'For real!?' on p1/p17, I can easily fix that on this end if it helps though.

Anyway keep up the good work!

Main question: I typically avoid canonical punctuation. I use exclaimation commas and ellipses for effect, as well as !?, except I do ?! since it's a question being exclaimed mostly. I'm interested in opinions on this.

>canonical punctuation

What do you mean? Matching the Japanese punctuation?

>as well as !?, except I do ?! since it's a question being exclaimed mostly.

I think ?! looks a lot worse than !? visually, and since I'm pretty sure there are no actual rules about interobangs and it's kind of an abuse of orthography anyway I don't think you should worry about assigning meaning to the order you put the signs in.

 No.934113

>>934110

No I mean the sort of thing you'd see in English sentences. I've virtually never seen single periods used in translated manga, or not that I recall. The ?! vs. !? bit, I do not know, most text I've seen generally uses the former. Also no one uses ‽ since most people don't have a compose key or typewriter.

I held off on finishing the last chapter for a while but it was only a day or two ago that I went ahead and posted it, so it really is bad timing. I'm very sorry! I hope it wasn't too much of a bother to you and I still really appreciatedthe work that you did for me and if you like the manga I'm more than happy to keep working with you! Your typesetting is very nice and looks a lot better than mine and although it won't be done with the translation for a while it could always help to have someone to work with on the chapter after this

Next chapter of Veteran shougakusei.

I'd like to ask opinions on some of the titles though. For 'Clashing Titans' the original was 激突する二人 and for 'Give in to the Dark Side' especially the title was just 闇堕ち. For clashing titans I'm not too concerned, it's a tad inaccurate but I feel that it reads nicer than 'The Clashing Pair' or 'The Clashing Two', but 'Give in to the Dark Side' is a lot longer, and specifically it's hard to see it as a generic reference over a star wars reference. 闇堕ち is definitely more of a movie/games expression but perhaps 'Fall to Darkness' or 'Fallen Hero' might be more appropriate. Nicopedia at least corroborates that it's more about the hero turning to the evil/darkness and even straight up uses the phrase ダークサイド so it's probably fine as is, but if anyone feels that it's particularly offensive or inaccurate I might go ahead and change it to something a bit more literal.
