Why has this series never received a proper series adaption? I mean, there's the movie and the tiny web series, but that's not much really.

Why has it been out for longer than Knights of Sidonia without a series adaption yet Knights of Sidonia got a full fledged series with two seasons to date? Do you think it should be 2D or do you think CG could fulfill our needs for the visualizations? Do you think it should span the whole manga or just a portion of it?

 No.797794

I don't think a series suits the story. Why having a series with a protagonist that never talks?

It's better if it stays this way and be thankful for the great movie we got

 No.797803

Not mainstream enough. Even though he is known for his best work Blame!, Knights of Sidonia is where his mainstream debut came in. Nobody really cares for the little manga here and there he did between Blame! and Sidonia. You could tell just from reading Sidonia that it had a different sensibility to it than what Blame! did. I think the Knights of Sidonia anime was better than the manga. At least it didn't have a third act that seemed to not go anywhere until it rushed to conclusion. That tsundere robot they found didn't really contribute much overall. Was used as a plot device for one scene but was just really annoying.

Blame! movie was alright for what it was. It could work as a series but it would have to be released periodically in bunches of episodes because it would need a heavy emphasis on sound design. You really can't be bringing QUALITY to this like any other 12 week anime.

I remember looking for an anime back in the day and found the only thing I found looked like ass and was in Portuguese of all things. Looking at the torrents available now it's probably the logs. Personally I doubt they could make it a whole series without raping the style of it. There just isn't much budget in anime series and trying this with generic anime shading would look like complete garbage. You can't sameface yourself out of this one.

>Do you think it should be 2D or do you think CG

Is there any 3DCG in anime that doesn't look completely jarring and terrible?

I had no idea they made a movie by the way. Maybe some faint memory of hearing it. Here's to hoping it isn't shit.

The movie was okay in CG, but if they did another one I wouldn't want it to be low fps like before

>The movie was okay in CG

Oh fuck, I've got a bad feeling about this ...

The ending was horrible.

I just remembered. I did read about the movie on some board, got hype and then I heard it was CG. It hadn't passed my consciousness since that day.

Houseki no Kuni doesn't look completely terrible.

The CG does not fit at all to Blame! (it looks plain compared to the manga), but what really bothered me was the introduction of Cibo on the movie. They completely destroyed the first appearance of her and after that I lost the little hope I had for the movie.

We are never going to get a proper adaptation .

Blame's claim to fame is its atmosphere, not the plot. Nihei has a formal background in architecture and construction which is probably why he seems almost uniquely capable of creating such vast engrossing space in his works(if I'm not mistaken, architectural education puts huge emphasis on shading). You have to have very large budgets to be able to afford the kind of detailed artwork that adequately creates that kind of atmosphere. If it were to happen it would have to be at least equal to Mushishi's quality. But everything would have to be drawn from scratch since you couldn't just use photos of nature for reference and backgrounds. The plot would probably have to be something very wandering and episodic, which would further reduce its mainstream appeal.

Ugh ... Just looking at the screenshot you can tell it's fucking 3DCGI. 3D ruins everything.

I just read all the manga and watched the logs / movie.

They are making a second movie. Although this 2017 movie is basically book five chapter 1.

They will have to make a few prequels.

 No.801393

Why can't they just start from the beginning proper?

And no 3DCGI this time, just proper 2D animation.

No idea man, perhaps the movie takes place after this shitty spanish logs.

I just watched the movie. It's pure fucking AIDS. The animation is on par with a Sunday morning children's CG cartoon but it's going for a realistic style which makes things completely fucking atrocious. It's hard to believe anything in the movie is supposed to be alive, let alone human. As netkikes are behind it naturally the safeguard are now hunting people because they are poor illegal immigrants residents, just like evil whitey in our days. This is ignoring the problems with things like the whole movie focusing on what the manga made a point of showing as having absolutely no relevance in the greater scheme of things whatsoever, meaning people and for good measure in this movie the focus is entirely laid upon annoying and shortsighted idiots who would impossibly have survived long enough to be in this shitty movie to begin with, the action and sound effects being completely generic and the different and unsettling safeguards are replaced with a single one, which is a less intimidating version of the doll-jointed safeguards, where the scary bit is it crawls like insects becasue that's like super scary. Also wordy exposition thrown in your lap in one big lump becasue we are too lazy to deal it out in a more creative way, and retarded flashbacks becasue we set shit up poorly and we expect you to be too retarded to figure out what happened. I could go on and on but I'm already sick of thinking about this shit.

The fact that there are people on this board who think something which, even if we ignore its other faults, just looks this fucking awful can even be considered passable makes me so fucking depressed.

Speaking of Polygon Studios...

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2018-03-05/blame-manga-creator-tsutomu-nihei-polygon-pictures-establish-joint-venture/.128543

>Blame! Manga Creator Tsutomu Nihei, Polygon Pictures Establish Joint Venture

>TOA Heavy Industries, LLP to expand with original projects in games, goods, product design

>Polygon Pictures Holdings — the principal shareholder of 3DCG anime studio Polygon Pictures — and manga creator Tsutomu Nihei announced on Monday that they have partnered to establish a joint venture named TOA Heavy Industries, LLP (Tōa Jūkō Yūgen Sekinin Jugyō Kumiai). The new company will aim to go beyond screen projects and expand into other fields, with planning for original projects in games, goods, and industrial product design underway. It will also be engaged in supervising works and rights management.

>The company's site will launch this year.

>The company's name is a reference to a similarly named company that appears in the stories of many of Nihei's works.

>Polygon Pictures has previously adapted Nihei's Knights of Sidonia and Blame! manga into 3DCG anime films and series. The studio is also known for the two Ajin television anime series and film trilogy, and the ongoing Godzilla: Kaijū Wakusei film trilogy.

>Nihei is currently serializing his APOSIMZ manga, which launched in February 2017. It has 250,000 copies in print.

>Polygon Pictures and Japanese publisher Kodansha previously established a new joint venture company called Kodansha VR Lab last October. The new company will create VR and AR content such as videos, games, and other digital content. Kodansha VR Lab also plans to target its content to a global market. Polygon Pictures Holdings also established the Element Factory company alongside game content developer Historia in January to develop CG models using Unreal Engine 4 (UE4).
