I'm making this thread based on the /jp/ content rule, if mods think this doesn't fit here that's fine and I won't make the thread again.

Everyone obviously knows Yu-Gi-Oh, but Japan makes a lot of board games, and there's a huge internal market for what they make, similarly to all their other types of media and assorted otaku things, meaning a lot of things they make there is completely different from what we see in the west, and a lot of the stuff they make never makes their way overseas.

My favorite ones that I've played are Tanto Cuore and Heart of Crown, deck building card games, one with meidos and the other one with princesses. Both games are pretty similar, both players start with the same handful of basic cards, and they build their decks from cards they buy from a market that is shared between the players. You have to try to make a functional deck on the go with what you're offered and then reach the win condition before someone else does. It starts simple enough but gets more complex as you get more cards in your deck.

Two games I haven't played yet because I haven't found them yet are Twelve Heroes, a game where you build a small deck of 12 cards and try to make them synergize as well as you can, and Machi Koro, a really charming city building game.

 No.742072

Discussing board games is always tough because you need a copy to provide any useful discussion. Where are you getting these from?

I don't remember the name of it, but there was a card game that turned famous historical figures into cute girls.

I made this thread to learn about other games from Japan other people might have played (I'm always looking for new stuff) and to gauge if other people in the board are also interested in playing games like this. You can find a lot of them in the steam workshop for Tabletop Simulator, and I'm looking for more people to play them with, because even if the games are good, just the fact they feature cute anime girls makes normalfags and even fa/tg/uys avoid them somewhat. I figured in /a/ I could find people who can appreciate a good game that also has good looking girls.

>>742074

Only thing I could find after a quick search was this https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/71569/kuni-tori , another deck building game, featuring sengoku era historical figures.

I didn't know about that one, coincidentally that game matches my description more than the one I was thinking of. The one I meant is called Force of Will, and it looks like they changed some figures.

 No.742092

>>742083

Oh, I've played Force of will once, it was alright, but that was a while ago.

As things are now I'm not that interested in card games that require you to buy booster packs anymore, getting good decks for those is always expensive and too much trouble, and for a game that isn't even that popular it would be too much money to put into a game I'd barely ever play.

That's why I like these deck building games, they scratch my itch for card games and you get everything you need to play right out of the box.

Never really looked into this, so it basically kicks copyright to the curb and lets you play anything people mod in? Doesn't sound like all that bad an investment then.

Resident fa/tg/uy here.

I've played Tanto Cuore and it's a rock solid deck builder. It's no surprise they've been releasing expansions constantly for it for the past few years. If you like deckbuilders, Japanime Games is your goto company. They've got quite a few of them, nearly all about cute anime girls. They're also branching out into other games and should have some neat ones coming out within the next year.

On the RPG side of things, you've got some great choices too.

Maid RPG is a hyper-cliche homage to silly Maid-themed anime. It's meant to be very tongue in cheek, but it also has optional rules for romance and seduction. If you wanted to play Maid Dragon in RPG form, this is exactly the game for it. Additionally, the guy who helped localize it designed a bunch of rules lite RPGs from it, like Magical Burst, which is Modoka the RPG.

There's also Tenra Bansho Zero, which is Insane Animu bullshit: the movie: the RPG -- Lots of great art and a really, really well developed setting with tons of detail and worldbuilding. It's a game where you can have a party consisting of a samurai with a giant sword whose body is infused with tons of crystallized spirits, an onmyouji summoner, a child pilot in a fleshmech powered by the heart of an Oni, a straight up bullshit Naruto-style Ninja, and a more-machine-than-man augmented soldier... Shit gets insane really fast and the game tells you exactly how to break it, because it's meant for high drama, high action, one-shot storylines.

And there's also Golden Sky Stories, which is Neko Musume the RPG. You play as cute yokai helping people and doing cute things. It's not the deepest RPG, but all of the art is by Ike which exudes pure cute also he does smutty doujins, so there's that too

Mods that get DMCA'd get taken down, but that rarely happens and they're usually uploaded elsewhere as well.

BarbaRossa is by the same people who made Tanto Cuore. You play as Nazi anime grils who are invading Russia. The art is fairly lewd and as someone who hates deckbuilding games I found myself loving it.

Kamiya Ryo seems to find porn artists for every game he's ever had a hand in. He got Kikai to do the art for Nechronica, and Radiohead for Zettai Reido.

Now that we know there are other people on /a/ who like this kind of stuff, would you guys be interested in setting up game nights to play something on tabletop simulator? Or somewhere else if someone knows other good places to play these.

I checked and the TTS workshop versions of Tanto Cuore, Heart of Crown, and BarbaRossa ( >>742208 ) have the cards and expansions with good image quality and everything works really well.

Unlikely. There's at least four in this thread alone and there must be more, judging by how popular the manga thread is.

I'm free all friday night,so if someone who's more limited with when he can play would like to set up a time I would be okay with it.

And don't worry about rules, HoC is even easier to play than tanto cuore. If you know tanto cuore you can learn HoC in ten minutes. I haven't looked into Barbarossa's rules but I imagine they're not that bad either.
