Not sure if I'm just jaded or things have changed drastically. I'm almost 30 and haven't even bothered trying to meet a woman. I remember a co worker suggested I meet someone, share an apartment, and just grow as people with each other. But I can't help but think that is even an option anymore. I imagine you need to be the best you can be before even trying to get romantically involved with anyone. Maybe I'm right, or maybe I'm over evaluating things.

Not necessarily. They may present that image to the outside but who knows may be happening behind closed doors or in people's heads.

The pretty girl you walk past on the way to work may be suffering from chronic depression or some other mental health condition.

The children may have special needs, behavioural issues or complex health problems which tax them physically, financially and emotionally.

That and there may be one bad day which pushed them onto the economic precipice.
