Basically, exposes vote tally manipulation and the fact that voting machines are very insecure by design.

Giving the public a perceived choice where there is none is very psychopolitical, IMO.

Based on Naomi Klein's book of the same name which examines a method of psychological and economic warfare revolving around manufacture of public consent through disaster.

Klein cites sources in her book. Whether correct or not this is certainly an "important" documentary especially when one considers such documentaries can be tools for the psychopolitician...

Personally, I find Shock Doctrine compelling but overly simplistic and lacking nuance. There are a few unsupported logical leaps. The ideas are worth exploring, but things are more complicated than presented.

Note the not-so subtle September 11 bookends; Facts are served with an invitation to speculation that pique curiosity. Many who follow guided speculation will arrive at a desired conclusion without further fact finding necessary. Facts arranged such to suggest a conclusion are enough to sate most curiosity; Thus, further research is typically shelved given its apparent high cost to benefit ratio (humans are predisposed to optimism in planning their goals, so they assume they will only further verify their assumptions, see also: "Planning Fallacy"). Leaving the conclusions somewhat open ended also allows the consumer to plug in their own particular beliefs rather than presenting a concrete conclusion which can be picked apart. Shock Doctrine performs well in this regard, so from a propagandist perspective I give it an 8/10.

This piece is clearly chock-full of pro USA intelligence community propaganda. Don't take anything at face value therein. There are no doubt many facts presented since the best lies have a kernel of truth.

Be mindful of the environment propaganda is forged within. At the time of this video's release people held grave concern for covert ops; Many feared the result of the Cold War would be nuclear winter, and blamed the spying agencies for instigating the stand off.

The primary psychopolitical purpose of the propaganda seems to be appeasement of the public by deflecting their distrust in intelligence agencies and focusing on their now declassified good deeds. However, there are other PSIOPs at work herein, so tread carefully.

One example of additional subconscious messaging is at the ~7min mark: A subtle pro-Asian integration propaganda. The segment opens with obviously dubbed in hints of romantic/playful giggling, and features an out of place closeup of a pretty Asian woman who (with the help of her off-screen male partner), clearly dictates the message: "Everything is Alright, Everything is OK, everything is Fine" via their blatantly staged and overtly sexually flavored exchange. Don't forget the proxy war in Vietnam was ongoing at the time of the film; To my propagandist radar it screams, "Who are we fighting to protect, men? Sexy women like this!"

This is just one example. It's not enough to distrust the apparent claims, one must maintain vigilant self awareness to not fall prey to a PSIOP's sub-contextual suggestion.

The trick is not to distance yourself from the primitive mind, but to hone your connection to it -- to hyper sensitize the instinctual impulses; Consciously think at the primitive level so as to pick up on the attempts to trigger primordial responses and influence higher-order opinion thereby. If you have trouble consuming and analyzing both the high and low level messaging at once, muting the video can sometimes help identify visual incitement.

I think this is an important film to analyze since the propagandists' skill is still rough and thus their hidden messages are easier to pick out than in more refined and smooth flowing modern propaganda.

The film explores KGB operations in North America and Cuba, and doubles as anti-Russian propaganda. In doing so it covers some KGB backed protest, activism, and insurrection.

I found interesting one part where an ex-soviet explained the mechanism of psychopolitical attack: Pit white against black, men against women, poor against rich, etc. and the crisis will come. This is what Marxism does through application of an oppressor / oppressed dynamic. It's telling that the end goal of crisis (or communist revolution) is left unsaid in most western ideologies of Social Justice.

Being that the film is also propaganda it could be that such was said in order to paint Social Justice as a tool used against countries; The sentiment may also be true whether or not it is propaganda.

I find interesting that ideologies which seek to dismantle power structures (governments, The Patriarchy, etc.) are so prominent in the west as to be taught in every college (not merely critically examined, but fostered), as the film demonstrates such activists like the Weather People and Radical Feminist ideologies were once considered a threat to the west.

That this idea of radical Social Justice being a weapon against western capitalism is all but absent in today's media is interesting. I find it hard to believe that the media would remain under communist control for long. It could represent a shift in ideological alignment -- possibly that western powers have decided to benefit from crises caused by class warfare. It's repeatedly mentioned that KGB spies, dubbed "illegals", get into the USA via Canada, illuminating a possible strong motivation for the tightening of the Canada/USA border; This is an anti-immigration double whammy when once considered the subtle suggestion that "illegals" (illegal aliens) could be soviet spies.

When watching such films keep an eye out for the propaganda; It's easier to pick out in older films.
