While a very, very, few people focus their attention on higher things, advancement of technology, knowledge, science, freedom, etc, the vast majority just seem to be lowered to the level of animals, seeking only food, sex, and amusement.

Could it be we have devolved so severely because, quite simply, the many with their brutish desires and drives, to which they are slaves, just outbreed the hell out of anyone who strives to preserve beauty, dignity, and honor?

In a way, but that isn't totally accurate. Those traits aren't passed down genetically. You have to consider how people are taught things in addition to their personality, and then life experiences come into play after that.

I'd say he's more right than you give him credit. First of all, it in fact might be at least somewhat related to the genetics and such people are usually genetic dead-ends, especially in modern society.

Then there's the passing of values from parents to children.
