I agree with >>56539 on this. I don't see why your soul / spirit couldn't work that way if you wanted it to? Like anon said, I'm not sure how magic would affect your astral body, but I would imagine you could be summoned if someone wanted to summon you. I've not tried summoning the dead, but I bet they hear you if you try. Not having any knowledge of the afterlife from personal experience, I can't say with certainty what awaits on the other side, but I can tell you what I know about the spirit from this side of life. I used to be fascinated by OOBEs and NDEs. Researched it a lot and read tons of stories from people. I believe most humans never pay any mind to or practice with their astral body, so when the spirit starts to leave them, they freak out and don't know what to do. In the Bible, death has been said to be eternal darkness or a "bottomless pit" for the lost souls. Anyone who's been able to form their astral body, be it meditation, lucid dreaming, or projection, can tell you that it feels like levitating or falling sometimes. I would imagine that if a person, who never believed they were a spirit or in an astral realm, died and found themselves in that situation, then I suppose to them it may seem like an eternal nightmare of falling through darkness. For those who are expecting a spirit world who are familiar with their astral body, they won't panic when that silver cord finally breaks loose from their flesh bag. I like to think of it like swimming. Toss someone who doesn't know how to swim into the water and they flail about and drown. Toss an experienced swimmer in the water and they quickly gain buoyancy and float without fear. I expect death to be this way. It'll be like an astral projection that you don't return from, well, at least not to your original body.
