Lets take a look at the bible in genesis…

Day one and Two are very important.

Lets break this down piece by piece and pick apart the meaning of the individual parts.

<There is only God. nothing else exists so God makes our reality come into existence. Take note that God created the heavens AND the earth. God created the earth, but also the space the earth would occupy. Understand?

<Read this part carefully. Earth is formless and VOID. darkness over the surface of "THE DEEP". God hovering over surface of "THE WATERS"

>Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

<light and dark, night and day etc. etc. etc.

<REALLY IMPORTANT-

Think about what is being said here. There is water, and God makes an expanse between the waters made as "Sky" which is atmosphere, which is air we can breath.

If it really was a vacuum, which I suspect it is not, I would have to say that the atmospheres of every single planet and the plasma of every star in the entire universe would have instantly left all their planets and solar systems and equalized with the rest of the universe. If space was a vacuum the earth would have no air left on it.

Maybe to you it's irrelevant if you live on a rock orbiting a giant atomic reactor, or a flat plane inside a giant glass bowl, but to me it seems pretty important. People prefer easy heuristics, not because they are necessarily stupid, but because those heuristics get them what they want. It might not be what they need according to a third party, but even a cursory glance at the general public must observe that people prefer being told things that fit their heuristics and further their personal drives. Data which doesn't fit heuristics will be filtered out.

If they do change their mind, new heuristics are put into place, new categories and group definitions formed, etc. So long as it can be brought easily to mind, it will be fitted into these mechanisms of thought. This is why easily digested charts and infographics are good at spreading messages, and dense tracts full of dull academic droning is not.

People way too easily accept things without asking for more information or proof that information is real.

Umm astronauts train underwater because it's the closest they can get to a zero gravity environment on earth.
