Did anyone ever figure out what these Webdriver Torso-esque videos are? I stumbled across this one I've never seen thats been around about a year, uploads 30+ videos a day and uses repetitive visuals and beep boops in every videos. The only thing that stands out is how it scrolls horizontally and also those spoopy faces.

Its hard for me to believe that someone would put so much time and effort into something that has pretty much no exposure. Most of the videos have 0 views and nothing comes up on google about it. What are the explanations people have come up for this and what do you think the process behind making them is?

1. It's some severely autistic (non-verbal) man who spends all his time making these videos. The reason is known only to him, or maybe even he doesn't know it. His autistic brain just finds these videos enjoyable for some reason.

2. The videos are generated procedurally by some kind of software and maybe even the uploading is automated, so the channel doesn't need any human supervision. But still the question remains, what's the point of it all? Is it an experiment? The channel owner's motives are unclear. If it was an ARG, at this point it would have been declared a failure, seeing as it doesn't generate any traffic.

What gets me is that, at this point, with as many of them as there are now, at least one of them would have come forward and broken kayfabe.

The most likely explanation I've seen is that it's testing YouTube's "Content ID" system, which recognizes copyright protected videos by machine vision. Discovering how this system works is pretty valuable info.

That's a good hypothesis, I agree. There's a lot of money to be made on Youtube, and I can see some hacker and/or internet marketer trying to learn more about their algorithms.

It's somebody using Youtube to either store data or transmit messages (research "covert channel" communications).

The "filename" is the either the position in the sequence or a hash. The "peach" number is the protocol or software version to decode the data. All the data is probably encrypted and impossible to decrypt so don't ask.

I've heard there are plenty of these kinds of data storage videos scattered around Youtube actually.

Definitely some sort of automation has gone into the making of these videos. It would very unlikely and very sad if some guy were to manually animate all these.

Do you seriously not feel any effect from it? Am I the only one getting this weird phenomenon? Come on it's obviously strong but if you cannot feel it just forget it….
