Long story but I'll give y'all the rundown here:

>bf and friend saw some shit in April at cemetery

>same thing I saw in my house at 13 six years ago

>keep going back bc bored after work past few months

>start smelling weird shit in room when we talk about spooks

>on and off for a month

> ff to Tuesday

>bf had bad sleep paralysis

>not anymore

>suddenly I get an episode

>bf says sometimes people can develop sleep paralysis from people close to them

>"you fucking asshole you infected me with a demon std"

>ff to tonight

>run to room for something

>phone call

>private number

>heavy breathing

>"you should get that COPD checked out dude."

>continues then hangs up

>shrug it off bc prank

>probably

What the fuck is going on? There's a little more to it all if y'all want to hear it. We just want some answers honestly. Why the rotten smell on and off? What could this shit be? Is ignoring it the best answer? Any advice is appreciated.

What did you see at the cemetery and in your house? The phone call was probably a prank, I think. Or a stalker. I would have been more worried if you'd heard a weird voice or just static noise. Sleep paralysis is weird, you may not experience it your whole life, and not even know it exists, and then you hear about it, and you start getting episodes. In a way it's like a virus for your mind.

Black mold? That would explain the smell (black mold reeks), the sleep paralysis (toxicity affecting the brain), and the phone call (previous tenant feeling guilt over neglecting to alert you about it - mold can kill you if you have lung problems like COPD). In which case you need to call someone to come take a look at it.

That or it's a demonic STI (pic related) and you are completely FUCKED

That's brilliant, actually.

That reminds me of the guardian in the 1974 BBC adaptation of M. R. James’ The Treasure of Abbot Thomas for the annual A Ghost Story for Christmas.

Yes, great stuff! Pleased they are bringing it back this year with The Dead Room which looks like it'll be comfy viewing.

Jolly good! I was wondering if they would do another one this year. The Tractate Middoth was back in 2013, and since then I don’t think they’ve done a new one.

I very much enjoyed the short film adaptation of Mr Humphreys and His Inheritance (1975), though that was not made by the BBC.

Other than the feature length Night of the Demon from 1957, which is an adaptation of Casting the Runes, I don’t think there has ever been another feature length adaptation of a M. R. James story.

The Maze from 1953 is somewhat similar, and very enjoyable though.

Heard some rather bad things about the 1979 Casting the Runes, but I would like to check it out; if only someone would see it it! I’ve been stuck at eighty-something percent for ages ;_;
