In a situation where shit hits the fan, you also have to worry about other humans. Some people will try to steal your stuff. The cops will be too busy fighting the invasion to deal with criminals. You'll be on your own.
Forget about fighting the attackers, the gap between our technologies is too big. Our armies will quickly be annihilated. The big cities will be completely destroyed by weapons that make our atomic bombs look like child's play. Your best strategy is to survive the initial onslaught, make some friends, and find a quiet place to rebuild, hoping you won't get noticed.
