The phenomena could have been going on throughout all of human history or even beyond and only became noticed in the past few decades. The only evidence that any of this has always been the case is what currently exists, which is in conflict with far more people's memories than agree with it. Part of what always made me think this entire concept was bullshit was always people putting "beam me up scotty" on the same lists as the rest, and swearing they remember that. I never thought this was weird until I mentioned to a friend I remember the number on Dr. Pepper cans being 27, not 23. He said his Mom drank it all the time and he remembered it that way too. Then a week later he denied all of it, the number and his mom being addicted to Dr. Pepper. There was no one else with us, he'd have no reason to deny it. Can confirm, they're shrinking. Not sure if it's right to call it a Mandela Effect, there's no collective matching memories of their size in my experience. I've travelled across India in the seventies, then again in the eighties and a third time in 2012-2016, and each time the Aravalis get smaller.
