So, like any good hobo I have been around. Also, I have done some camping. A few people talked about meeting up and camping would be a good way to do it. Its cheap. Its fun, Its public, and its different.

So my favorite place to camp is Western Oregon. I never miss a summer out that way and this year is no different. So I hereby propose a math camp for everyone here.

To really make it happen we will need a chunk of time that everyone can make it. My window is from May through Aug. I recommend Late May/early June as this is the best weather, and minimal chance of us getting smoked out… Well smoked out from forest fires.

I will be in the area with all my shit for camping so it will be easy for me to set it up more or less and I can do transportation from either Portland or Eugene Airports. Portland is kinda far though so I would like to make just one trip there if possible.

Coordination will the the hard part so lets start with dates., Post your dates below and lets see what lines up..

If money is a problem all we need to do is crack open ole' Satoshi's BTC wallet and we can pay for it all that way. That way everyone can come on their own private helicopter.

Thanks Hobo! I'm checking in. Great photos, making me hungry for the woods.

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms…”

never been much for poetry but I like a good story.

So a farmer's horse ran away. All his neighbors came to him and expressed their sorrow at his loss. He was unperturbed and simply replied. May be,May Be.

The next day the farmers horse returned followed by 2 wild horses! The farmers neighbors returned and cheered! You are so lucky they said. May be, May be.

The very next day the farmer came out of his house and his son was trying to break one of the new horses to the saddle. As a small crowd formed, the horse suddenly bolted throwin the farmers son off his back. He landed hard and broke his ankle, Oh, no we are so sorry for your loss they said to the farmer. May be, May be, he replied.

A few weeks later the farmer was called to the center of the village by the village bell. He and his son, now on crutches, went. There were military men from the capitol recruiting for a new and bloody war in the far north. The soldiers passed the farmers son by because he could not walk on his broken ankle… They instead took all his horses…

I'm digging on this idea, but it will be awhile before I can commit–like maybe 2-3 years. I'll be in college, then (hopefully) working…but looking at your images, or any images like them, just stirs something deep inside.

I love getting out as well, though I haven't camped in many years. Most of my hobbies have to do with getting out into nature, but not just for looking—I forage as well. Rockhounding, mushroom-hunting, that kind of thing.

Not sure where I'll find work; hopefully outside of California. But yeah–I love getting out into the wilderness. Nothing like it.
