I have recently bought an 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ controller after it had been shilled to hell and back and it was pretty comfortable to play with, but I'm getting some issues with diagonal inputs with the analog sticks. More specifically, according to Windows 7 patented controller settings screen, I can't seem to get the cross in any of the four corners, no matter how hard I try or what settings I change using 8BitDo's software. Updated firmware doesn't seem to make a difference. More specifically, I'm having trouble when playing with emulated games that use wide and angled movements, think Crash Team Racing. I can play it no problem but it won't turn all the way left or right in tight corners for some reasons.

Is there a way to achieve that sweet corner movement, or is my controller just defective? It's such a joke that a Linq cheap PS3 controller can do what a 40 dollarydoos controller can't.

you're not supposed to get the crosses in the corners, you're just supposed to move the sticks to the extremes. The calibrator recognizes those extremes as the outermost limits and adjusts input signals accordingly

yes, it does just work. The real bitch is the deadzone, which you can't set unless the game/emulator lets you

I use an NS Magic Controller Adapter with a Wii U Pro Controller

the NS Magic let's you set the dead zone on any system you play on

Okay

So eazy peazy:

Is the stick actually centered, and works correctly? Then it shouldn't have more than the default deadzone

If it not centered? Then its borked, and you need to RMA it.

I got a SN30 PRO 2nd revision, and the left stick lasted about 6 months before wearing apart and just drifting.

Once its borked, you can't fix it. Windows calibration tool isn't designed for complete recalibration to deal with silly deadzones due wear.

I had to RMA it, and I live in a reasonable country, so that was easy.

I am tempted to get another one, but I fear they use the same mechanic for the sticks, ergo it will die within half a year. The reason I might want another one is that the DPAD and buttons are tested and true designs, even if the parts are subpar and chinese.

And I was also displeased with the fact it did not have full rumble support, only light rumble. Input lag and sync could have been better, but bluetooth has always been kinda borked on Windows.

>even if the parts are subpar and chinese.

the /tech/ redpill is that 99% of the tech-related you buy is garbage made in china, there are slight variations in the quality of said garbage that do not correspond to the price of those products

for example, a $60 not-chinese* official controller

won't typically be all that much better than a $20 knock-off despite the $60 controller costing 3x as much

*actually chinese

Yes, but the problem with buying a Chinese product verified in China is that the RMA angle is missing.

Its basically the problem with OEM using the same parts, but lacking the quality control to avoid picking the subpar parts for testing.

At the same time nobody is making a competing product for mass distribution, partially due patents, FUD, lack of money, regional bickering, and too much faith in their OC donut steel.

8bitdo is taking the tried and tested design of the Wii Classic Controller, with extra flashiness and user friendliness. Its just a fucking shame they had to pick subpar joystick parts for their controllers, where the original Wii Classic Controller's sticks should last half a decade or more.

Yeah the unfortunate reality is that even some of the more well known Western brands have been resorting to 'commissioning' chink factories to slap just slap their brand's sticker onto some existing chink stuff for many decades.

You're basically paying double for the brand sticker and hope that the person in charge of finding products to license for that brand knows what hes' doing.

Not garbage exactly, just not worth their price. Never pay more than 25$ for one.
