I'm not a fan of this game, at all, and it's an unfun slog to play. I've played through it twice, five-starring every waystation. I didn't have the willpower to x500 the 'Legend of Legends' deliveries. And even if I were asked to play more, I would refuse, much in the same way one would refuse to eat another bite after having already eaten way too much food. Walking and driving, and sometimes zip-lining, literally for hours on end, is mentally taxing. The game requires almost no higher reasoning absent a brief planning phase before a delivery. Thereafter, it's just dozens of hours of mindlessly slogging through a barren wasteland. This slog can become semi-bearable when listening to music (my own, obviously) or topical discussions on YouTube, but then I could also be doing something far more enjoyable instead, like playing a vastly superior game.
The story is so fucking stupid and up its own ass. The characters are all mostly interchangeable hollow vessels for Kojima to dump his dumb opinions and leftist moral drivel; and there are dozens and dozens of emails to this effect, all with unflinching walls of dry text that nobody will read but those most devoted to Kojima's cum. If spending hundreds of hours walking around an empty map with a screaming baby in a jar edifies you personally, and causes you to seek out social interaction and motivates you to fight an apocalyptic future, more power to you. For me, Kojima's blend of dour, infantile drama, irrational psuedo-realism and sporadic peepee humor utterly, utterly repulses me.
And sitting idle, for hundreds of hours, as Kojima meticulously renders his fanfiction of a 'reconstructed' America also intermittently infuriates me. The whole 'Bridges' motif to counter ebil 'Walls', the "Make America whole again" slogan, rebranding my country as 'United CITIES of America', and a host of other snide little minutiae make my fists clench. This slant-eyed bastard, high on the stench of his own farts, has the platform, the popularity and the dogmatic conceit to talk down to me, and smugly inform me how I and my nation ought be conducted, even culturally. And any who oppose this disgusting, globalist destruction of my county's borders and culture, is depicted as a "homo-demen," a murderous savage belonging to what is essentially a death cult that heralds the extinction of humanity. I would have respected Kojima had he given the seperatists even an inkling of a valid argument, rather than portraying them as one-dimensional, irredeemable wrongdoers who just want to kill and watch the world burn (wholly unlike these so-called American "United Cities" that totally aren't looted and burnt).
>"Yeah, I know the democrats have done some bad things in the past, like BB tech, but you also don't want to be part of that ebil death cult, do you? Join globohomo, else humanity will not survive! . . .also you need hugs!"
I wonder if Kojima would have used these same vapid arguments on the Native Americans, or better yet, his own people when globohomo inevitable tighten its grip on his own country. I wonder if, in the Death Stranding universe, Japanese veterans killed in battle are also trapped in a looping, unending hell because "they want to be there", or if it's just those evil American warmongers, exclusively.
Yeah, straight up, fuck this game. It doesn't even have the courtesy to be fun.
