Look up and see if the additional shit is worth the wait to you. Personally I don't think any of it is interesting enough to be worth caring about. The original version is already a great game and well worth it if you like the series or just JRPGs in general.

Really gay, the older version loses multiple main character quests that enhance the story and basic features of the franchise that have been around in most DQ games such as party members being visible following you. Also the entirety of 2D mode, essentially an entire game missing. Also Sylvando is a giant faggot, turn off voices in the sound options if you pirate it.

Yes, that was known from the start, it was the original version and how the game was intended to be played, Sony paid Squeenix big bucks for an inferior timed exclusive HD edition on the PS4 that became the basis for all the other versions. They also paid big bucks for them to cancel the western 3DS release and add voice acting to the PS4 western release. Sony's whole goal was to monopolize the western audience for the game.

The music can be modded in to the PC version, so that isn't an issue. I don't listen to VG soundtracks to begin with. They pale in comparison to real music. Especially modern soundtracks that don't know how to orchestrate. My issue is more in releasing a game more than once to begin with. And especially cutting content. I just want the games I play to be full games.

Thing is Dragon Quest's spiritual home is on Nintendo machines tho. Never once owned any console but I can still grasp why this shit occurs. Square put out the Ps4 and PC version first to make a quick buck while they finished the game. The way I see it the Switch version was always meant to be the primary version. Which is dumb as I actually own a fridge with more processing power than a Switch. No joke. Its kinda shitty but then Square always has been kinda shitty PC versions are always an after thought.

Honestly the Switch version because it has extra content including the 2D mode along with revamped orchestrated music and party members following you on the field. The only thing the PS4 has over the Switch version is improved visuals.
