I didn't even understand what the freakin' gameplay for the direct combat is, he pressed the honorobru dueru button then proceeded to cinekill everything. Looks like there's a Nioh-style stance system that's probably crap because the description says the stances are for maxing damage to specific enemies types which sounds like that red-blue DmC shit.

The environments do look very pretty and the exploration might be fun since he can jump and the b&w film filter looks cool but that doesn't justify a purchase unless you hate mongolians as much as they hate walls. Besides, why play this when there's Macho Ma'am Choke Slam PGA 2 just around the corner?

I wouldn't say RDR2, it looks like it learned nothing from RDR2, say what you will but I thought that game would at least set a decent standard. The fact that video games learned NOTHING from it is a travesty and really shows the industry is stagnating and going straight to hell.

The basic structure of the game is fucking tired. Waypoints and busywork up the ass, crafting, fast travel to anyfucking place, the scene with him burning the shipyard looked particularily fucking ass and shit. UI is fucking god awful, enemies have vision like moles

Combat looked kino until i realized it was nothing more than glorified arkham combat. Fuck this game. Fuck it so hard. For every thing it does kinda right theres like 5 things it does wrong. In its entirety the game reminds me of ubishit like farcry (and hey, asscreed)

Also is it just me or does the textures on like environment like rocks or boats look really shit? Like ps3 tier

Just got done watching the video. The only real impressive things to me were things related to exploration and visual cinema but the gameplay in combat looked like Assassin's Creed before the RPG aspects were added. You could easily make this the Feudal Japan Assassin's Creed the people were speculating would happen someday.

I like how they integrated the usual directional markers into the game with the wind, smokestacks and animals leading you to places instead of what is normally seen by having a giant arrow show you the way. Being able to pick up items on the way while riding a horse is good. I'm sure someone cans how me where this is done before but in most games I play they make you have to get off the horse or vehicle to pick up what's laying around the open environment. The black and white visual and diorama show impressive detail to make it feel a lot like an old samurai movie.

The negatives all fall in the combat area. It really does feel like an old Assassin's Creed in terms of gameplay. Really stupid insta-kills on display which shows how braindead the AI can be. I'm hesitate on the iai parry system because it looks like a clunky QTE for an insta-kill. I know that quick draw sword slash is a common trope of samurai movies but I how it's not the end-all-be-all move it is. Leave it to the regular mooks and you'll only get one chance on mid to high rank enemy to deal massive damage or inflict bleeding.

One weird complaint that is not game related is the guy from sucker pucker pronouncing Tsushima. He says it in a way that it sounds like "Sushi, Ma" instead of the long Tsuu or quick Tsu. It just seems to hit the middle between them and lumps the shi into it that makes it sound like a kid at a conveyor belt sushi bar excitingly saying "Sushi, Ma!" to his mother.

I pretty much came to the same conclusion. It is no surprise that game mechanics which is probably the most important aspect and core of what is a video game hasn't really advance at all in 20 years. The combat did seem like it was going to be promising by removing a lot of bloat that a lot of games have. It gave me a feel that it was going to be a high risk high reward system, but after the footage kept rolling the disappointment quickly hit. Failure should have been met not only in death but the mongols advancing in their territory and which would then have stronger enemies in the locations that you failed to clear out on your first try/due to your lack of mastery. The stealth playstyle looked promising but again, it seems like they gave the player a lot of options, the level design doesn't reflect mastery of the domain, instead you can easily and quickly without scouting pop a smoke and probably run off into the distance if you get spotted while the enemy threat level goes down and lose interest all night. They should be on high alert since they just got attacked, all night, and force the player to either be really good and clear this alert camp or due to his failure of being spotted, be force to retreat and try again another day.

The level or area should have traps, enemy sitting in a tower sniping or other options to deal with the "Ghost" that supposedly rumor has spread about. The game also features the snitch cursor in which now you won't have to learn your enemies pattern/location, instead, a magical arrow will fill up depending how far the enemy is or when he spots you. When traveling and reaching a new undiscovered location, a magical text appears to tell you the name of the location instead of you having to discover it yourself.
