If those weren't signs enough that a new Paper Mario was going to be shitty then I don't know what else they have to do. The only interesting thing about that entire trailer was the dialogue between Mario and Peach at the beginning, but I highly doubt that the rest of the game will be written like that, or even improved upon.
Some so far have speculated there will be a weapon-breaking system and that the partners will primarily be used in out-of-battle puzzles. The partners are so generic one of them is named Bob-omb. I honestly wonder why they even bothered making a new Paper Mario, the last few Mario RPG's didn't sell impressive numbers.
