Apparently Nintendo got hit with a big data Breach, double check your account for weird sign-ins or payments. Enable 2FA if you can on your account just to be safe. Seems from reports changing passwords doesnt help. They probably have access to a password dump file from one exploit or another, so they will still have your password after you change it wherever its getting leaked.

Doesn't appear to be a dump from elsewhere, appears to be some kind of breach. There are people claiming to be hit that had unique random generated passwords of decent entropy. I recommend just deleting payment info (or not linking it to begin with), 2fa is botnet cancer. Top security is gift cards if you don't have a subscription or if the inconvenience doesn't bother you. Can't steal money you don't have. :^)

Luckily I have always been a clever bastard and although my NNID has the same username and password I always used to use, and has an email associated to it, the email uses a different password I never use for anything else. I used that old username on a couple other sites, but not many.
I mean, I guess if they want to hack my runescape or dragonfable account they can, not like I was using them either. They can even have my nnid I never play online and just pirate all my shit now, I never even had a proper nintendo account.

So Nintendo put up a post on the 15th encouraging 2FA, then this happens?
Yeah, they DEFINITELY found a breach and never fucking bothered to openly report on it. This has been happening since yesterday and Nintendo still haven't admitted a breach, but their PR team still has the time to make tweets and post trailers to their YouTube channel.
They could be hit with a fine for tens of millions of euro over the EU's Data Protection laws for not disclosing it the moment they found out.
Fucking Nintendo, man.

because now there's a list with email addresses out with a high changes those are still used and more importantly used for more than one account, so it makes sense for people trying to get into other accounts.
where people deserve everything they get is using the same password for several accounts, with the neck yourself level of using it for the email account to (so half the two-factor authentications are circumvented).
so unless you have a different pw per account as people have been told for fucking decades you should be fine.

it can be either, but
a) if it's mail and you use the same pw 2fa won't help you (and worse will get other accounts compromised easily)
b) separate device like mobile is more secure, but once you lose your phone or worse it's some shitty app that gets hijacked you're in a world of hurt, trying to update all the accounts tied to it. plus privacy-issues.
best compromise if a burner just for 2fa, but even a pay as you go scheme requires you to top up every few months before it gets disabled, so once you miss that you're fucked even harder.

I can assure you that the accounts which use the same password have very limited information. I have a Google account with an email which I use for accounts I do not care about (Which again has a better password than my Nintendo account), and another "official" email that was provided to me by my ISP which has a different password which I use for shit which is actually tied to my real life. Anything which has real money on it, I use a different password for. The Ninty account doesn't have shit on it, other than 2FA. It's really not hard to not fill out tons of information on your accounts if you're lazy. I have been browsing the net at large for about 20 years at this point, and to date the only accounts I ever had any funny business go on with are an ancient Yahoo email I stopped using ages ago and the aforementioned D3 account (which was a mistake anyway, I assumed it could not possibly be "that bad" when it came out and liked D2 a lot)

It's the same principle of rich asian dudes who buy stolen artworks of famous european painters: The idea, the power, and the control over something so culturally significant. To them, "this thing is awesome, godly even, and now it's mine," is the root attitude.
The other thing is- I don't know for sure but I have a solid hunch, Narcissistic Personality Disorder makes heavy runs throughout the hacking community.
Why?
>Media portrayals of the damage that hackers can do gives them a superficial "mysticism," that narcs crave.
>Coding is obtuse, that is mystified by traditional media as well.
>Even if the ends & means are not that special, knowing two "Mystical" things gives you unearthly power. Regardless of hyperbole, learning that shit feeds addictions to god-complexes like you can expect, but still be exasperated about.
Narcissism's a hell of a drug, it fucks lives up worse than meth.

That is why it is always good to use hackers and discard them.
They go in thinking that they will be powerful. They get for us what we want without us even needing to move a finger. Then, when they aren't useful anymore, we can discard them and replace them for the next bunch of useful idiots.

Ah, thank you. I thought it was something different and new, but it seems they're still sitting on shit from nearly two years ago. I didn't think someone sitting on something for so long, so it's always hilarious to hear about comical skit-like Achilles heel type incompetence from otherwise intelligent autists, it's like fucking clockwork this always happens.
Do update of any more details, autist dox and data leaks, I like the drama but the entire point of me asking was more new vidya details. I'll take what I can get, über lel.

Danke.
The most important news is that the files in those links that i provided through the other anon's post contain a total of more than 2 terabytes of Nintendo's assets and source codes for games, software execution/operating systems for their hardware, and many more codes.
Basically, a huge part of Jewtendo's products can now be completely hacked and modified at their source, enabling the perfection of emulation, with more piracy, and even homebrew systems that can function exactly as the official ones, without anyone ever needing to give money to Jewtendo anymore for those on the leak.
Everything is still being downloaded, catalogued, preserved and spread. But as time goes by, more precise info will be released by those interested in working on those codes.
One that may interest some: a source code for the fabled Nintendo 64 port of Earthbound was found. You can download it, if you find it on the links that i provided. Nobody knows yet how much o the code can be used to make the game functional, or if it is even possible. But it can pave the way for people to work upon the base code and release a functional game made by fans, based on what the official would be if it was released.

>Bought a single fucking game off the e-shop because it looked cool (and was cool, I don't regret buying it)
>Now I have to fucking dig this ancient account I've used once and unlink my cards and change the password and shit

Okay wait, apparently this is different from a Nintendo Network ID? The website won't even load after I try signing in anyways.
