I just bought SFV on PC for dirt cheap from a key reseller and I also got a copy of granblue from fitgirl that has online too. One thing that's strange about fightan is that they continue to lower the bar to entry, but not by reducing the complexity of inputs (keeping all the QCF, six buttons, etc) but by shit like making button mashing a viable strategy, like the change from SF3 parries to the shit they have in SFV.
There was a fighting game a while back that got away with that stuff and focused on timing and strategy while using simple inputs, it had robots in it but I can't for the life of me think of the name.

That's like saying someone who plays Starcraft II won't be confused when confronted with an arena FPS. LoL has a different set of skills it requires and a different body of knowledge needed to play well. It's not like people switching over will be utterly without a clue but I guarantee the concept of even blocking is going to be the same hurdle to many League players as it is to anyone picking up fighting games with minimal exposure to the genre prior.
Even with Rising Storm's simplified super hotkeys and cooldowns, there is going to be a learning curve to apply things like champion abilities because of the new context and that's before these new players have to learn what neutral is.

I don't think that's true at all either. Fighting games get a hard rep because they do require lots of situational knowledge to play at intermediate and higher levels. It's why even with games designed to be basic or beginner friendly, you still see a disparity between pros and casuals. And fighting games are very different from a team based game because any time you make take damage or lose it's purely on the player and especially for a community like League, where blaming the team is the guiding mantra for loss, players are going to have to adopt a form of personal responsibility that they might not practice while gaming.
It's why I am interested to see how players of Granblue Fantasy that haven't played fighting games actually reacted to the fighting game. Because that's going to be the similar experience for League players come the launch of their own fighting IP.

Gonna post a brave take, I think SFV feels closer to how an SF game should play and more like 3rd Strike which is as close to perfect as SF has ever gotten. The animations are quick and fluid and have nice elasticity and impact to them. Also there's a lot of room for creativity and improvisation in combos and setplay. The V-Trigger system is a more interesting comeback mechanic than a deus ex machina ultra that just does a lot of damage, since it confers character specific buffs and now there's plenty of v-skill/v-trigger combinations to use that alter the gameplay of specific matchups.
It deserves the bad rap it got for its shitty launch but it's actually a fine game now. Has lots of variety and tons of characters each with their own unique customizable VS/VT loadouts.

Let me explain it, this should cover both players and spectators who look at it.
Stubby normals or non enough extension on hurt boxes, there are a lot of interactions in SFV where in almost any other fighting game someone would get whiff punished or they'd trade, but SFV will just have them slap air right in each others faces which range wise is ridicules, if you play fighting games or even just street fighter the buttons are overall jank and off feeling.
Crush Counter gives some characters an obtuse amount of power where if their frame trap or neutral throw out button is on it, if it lands as intended it just gives a full combo with no real need to practice it, the game froze to give more time to react and made a loud bang to ensure you don't miss it and gives you enough time to dash up and follow with your best combo starter button.
Power levels throughout the game have been majorly screwy, almost any time of the game you see like 5 characters super dominate the game, not players, characters and then next patch they get rotated out, for any spectator of the game or potential customer it's easy to see as favouring characters for E sports to keep fresh faces on screen and as a player learning someone to find, aha this patch we broken your characters legs even when they were only seen as mid tier is stupid balancing to put up with as a player.
Extreme favouring to rush down oriented play styles when designing characters, a large portion of Vs skill at the start of the game was anti fireball or characters who were just that in the first place. Even Guile the zoner all zoners wish to have the sheer turtle power of is now rush down, as a spectator this might seem entertaining but as a player it means there's no real dynamics with match up, you're both playing a rushdown character only with a small seasoning of something else IE. Rushdown with fireball or Rushdown with command grab. This also goes back into the power level issue because with only one real style of play it's super easy to design someone to dominate in it.
Stale combos, combos in Jive are not only super easy to do, but there's not much real variant to them, you just learn the optimal ones in like half an hour and after an hour of matches you should be able to confirm them with the greatest of ease, there's no "Oh man this player practices that great extension and actually pulled it off" moment because there is none, there's only combos that look hard when you see them on twitter without knowing what is going on like Menat VT combos or Guile Loops but then you try them and they're actually easier then the average challenge mode combo you'd see in the second half of an anime fighter.
There are a lot of players and even a study that shows when there's stuff like hard combos to build towards learning to be able to perform builds overall motivation to learn other aspects of the game because you overcame such a mental hurdle other aspects seem much more simple but that isn't present in 5 so people learn all of the combos in that 30 minutes and feel there is no meat left on the bone.

Every fighting game devolves into that at the later stages of its life, there's no way to escape that.
But that and the other reasons you listed aren't why SF4 was bad. It was bad because of useless/broken mechanics such as

Don't mistake the fact that you rarely see Vegas in top 8s for the idea that people don't use Vega because they do and they actually have insane workarounds for most of his hard matchups. It isn't anywhere near as unbalanced as SF has been in the past.

For example, Aegislash is able to shift into shield form after certain moves or by cancelling them, where he gets armor and his moveset changes to be zoning based. He can then also cancel certain moves in that stance to unseathe himself which then gives him different buffs depending on the amount of times he's done this in a round and he also has a unique parry no other character has; and even players of the same character often play them wildly differently.
>From a flavor perspective rather then a mechanical one characters also have a personality that shines through their moveset and animations, such as sceptile having a ninja theme with leaf shuriken which stop in midair, seed bombs/traps (both of which are space control tools with synergize with…) a mid range leaf blade as an iato cut, an anti air izuna drop (if they wanna try to jump over your traps) log substitution counters; etc, or Scizor being animated like a mech with his intro being the gundam launch sequence, having his wings act as hover jets, firing laser staples and buzzsaws, using his open claws like charge up cannons, and his super turning him into the freedom/butterfly grandam
>It's also got quite a few unique systems and mechanics which help keep the game focused and rewarding towards strong neutral play, fundamentals, and adaption, namely the way the game handles attack heights and the whole 2d - 3d phase shift system.
>Pokken's height system doesn't exist for bypassing block like in other FG's, but for moves to bypass and punishe ach other during their active frames:So you have the same sort of height mixups and setups in games with height dependent blocking in the sense that you can start a combo that the opponent blocks, bait them into responding with a move that would normally punish the next move you'd be using in that combo since it has iframes for that attack height, but then you use a different move that punishes that one, and that sort of thing; bit on top of that how it works here means there are more height mixups and reversa then you have with the height system of other games, since you can do it in neutral even against faster moves or in oki situations, just as a read to cause a punish and then lead into a combo, etc. There's also more height states in Pokken then in other fighting games, 6 of them vs the typical 3 or 4
>And for the phase shift system: On a basic level it just acts as an anti-infinite system with a forced return to neutral, with the 3d phase acting as an additional sort of second buffer layer to neutral play, but since shifts occur primarily due to a counter racking up and different moves add different varying point quantities to said counter, on top of having to consider damage, frame data, meter gain, etc as properties when using moves, you need to consider how much phase shift points it'll add, and, at higher levels of play, change up which moves, BNB combos, etc you use based on the state of the match: Perhaps you have the other player in a pressure situation against the corner, and you have to choose between a combo that might do more damage or is safer, but would cause a shift when in that matchup, the 2d phase is more towards your advantage Or maybe you have only like 1% health left, but almost have full meter, and you have to choose between using a higher damage combo that would KEEP you in the 2d phase vs one that does less damage, but would cause a faster shift, and since shifts give you meter, and burst gives you health regen, you can do the lower damage combo to cause a shift to give you the meter to go in burst, etc
>Overall it's a fantastic game but it got cucked out of widespread success since it got marketed as an arena fighter which turned the FGC off, but then it turned off the general pokemon/nintendo fanbase since it actually WAS competitive.

Yes, it has neutral play compared to the current fighting game lineup, but it still lacks what SF4 had for neutral. And it's thanks to Unreal Engine and its 6 frame input delay. Do they still have charge based characters in sfv? I remember playing it very early and being disappointed in it because it was either nerfed or didn't exist at all. Say what you want about charge based characters, but not everyone can play them and that makes them good in my book. Also I really liked the focus attacks. It's high risk high reward. And lastly, my main was Dudley and he is missing completely in sfv. I loved him because he punishes enemy players so well. He is perfect against fireball characters because he can duck under those.
What happened with SFV is the same that happens in every modern game. They remove "annoying mechanics". It happens in rts games like Red Alert 3, it happened in Counter Strike and they do it in mobas too. They remove hard to learn mechanics that give you a huge advantage over the enemy to stop you from bullying your opponent too hard.

Bison, Urien, Balrog, Guile, Fang, Alex, Blanka, Honda are all charge characters.
Most of them have one or two non-charge moves, except Guile and Honda I think.
Focus attacks in SF4 varied a lot between characters, some were fucking useless (Balrog, high risk low reward), others were essential (Gen, Fei Long, low risk high reward) and forced the game to implement more defensive options (invencible backdashes).
This didn't seem bad at first, but it forced players to always use option-selects in high level play, and no, this isn't a case of good complexity, it's just a chore and in the end it isn't a guessing game anymore, it's just the game playing for you.
Capcom's biggest mistake with SFV was removing/downgrading parts of the game they found to be "boring for the audience" and doing the opposite for the parts that the audience would enjoy.

Yeah but that's exactly my point. Footsies are a lot of fun… even if you are on the retrieving side. For example Guile. A pain in the ass to play against him. I would always curse if I got matched up against a Guile player, especially if they are high ranked. Would lose maybe 4 games in a row to them but the 5th game I would win would be so satisfying that it makes losing worth it.
A lot of people find projectiles too be bad, but they are imo a nice addition to fighting games.

I spent more than 500 hours playing it, learning all the moves and characters, then beating everybody in my neighborhood who would come to my house just to challenge me in Clay Fighter. Since I have so many fond memories of it, it is literally the best SNES game for me and one of the best un-contested fighting games of all time.

My issue with MK is that the gameplay is super floaty. Characters can teleport all over the map, they move super fast and blocking is cancer. By making everyone move fast you basically destroy spacing and footsies. Also because the gameplay is so freaking unpredictable you block by hitting a button instead of moving backwards like in sf. Due to this crossups are not possible in MK at all.

There's no way this situation ends well. He will gain more power and influence as more people are outright afraid to say anything to him. Then he'll do something that'll be disagreeable even to his own fanbase, he'll lash out at them the same way he does everyone else, and then self destruct like Spoony or more literally Eitika. It's what happens when people are put on such a high pedestal and are unable to be criticized.

GigaMaidens is a 3D fighting game. It's not really like any of those games you listed, it's closer in style to the fun and flashy 3D fighters of the PS1 and Dreamcast eras, mostly Tech Romancer, Bloody Roar and Soulcalibur. It will have combos and air juggles and supers and stuff, it's less "grounded" than SC is. It's basically an attempt to mimic that style of fighting games that were trying to be more about fun than doing anything novel. So combos, juggles, attacks that involve big lasers, missiles, fire, and explosions.
The gimmick of the game is that all the characters are giant women who destroy cities as they fight, sort of trying to be a sexy twist on the "superheroes vs. monsters" genre.

The unspoken etiquette of drawthreads is to not request something you've already gotten fulfilled. After he returned in the next few threads, anons started perceiving him as fishing for free commissions.
You have to know the context of what drawthreads were like at the time to understand what made this especially annoying.
We had numerous "serial requesters" who'd repost the same request every thread until they got a delivery, then there were the few who reposed requests even after they got a delivery. The threads were being treated not as a place for artists to show their work and talk to other drawfags, but as a place for people wanted free porn commissions.
They'd harass artists, stir shit and caused a lot of fights and frustration in the threads. Serial requesters damn near killed the entire concept, drawthreads went away and became really infrequent for awhile and most artists from the era never came back. The way drawthreads are now is relatively different to how they were back then.
