Bought the EU version of Spec Ops: The Line by accident so key is free to a good home. Only works for EU steam users, first in first served, hopefully brings some joy to someone. Just a heads up it is coop as well, so maybe jam with a friend.

Steam has region specific keys? Sounds pretty odd. I already have the game, but I can't remember where I got it from.

I fucking love Spec Ops: The Line. I know /v/ hates it because muh forced choices and what not but I really enjoyed it. It really tells a great story through voice lines and animations (during combat, not the story), watching your character get more and more unhinged as the game progresses.

The problem is how most people put it on the highest fucking pedestal.

I think most people who did that didn't actually play the game, they just watched the WP scene on youtube then couldn't stop ejaculating everywhere about how deep and sad they thought it was.

I can appreciate what that game was going for, but the way I see it the biggest problem is how in-your-face it gets with the message, not because of what you see through the characters but how the game beats you over the head with "WHOA BRO AREN'T YOU A HUGE FUCKING ASSHOLE FOR WANTING TO BE LE EVIK AMERIGA SOLDIAR YOU FUCKING WARMONGER BET YOU FEEL LIKE A REAL HERO SHOOTING AND KILLING PEOPLE YOU FPS LOVING GUN NUT". I'm not against a game that tries to flesh out the horrors of war to stand in contrast to the many tacticool cookie-cutter millitary shooters that trivialize the act, but it would've been much better (and also much more impactful) for the message to stay neutral and have people come up to the realization of the themes by themselves rather than taking a holier-than-thou stance of pure condemnation against the audience.

The only issue Ive had with the game on a conceptual level was the fact that the WP scene did not give let you refuse. They could have simply made the option of not using it trigger a game over state, reinforcing the do or die situation, but they didnt so it feels cheapened.
Otherwise the game is pretty great if you ignore all the retarded buzz around it, like with all good games that shitters like.

I remember there used to be some weird shit where russians would buy $20 games for the ruble equivalent of like 3$ and then sell them to to people in other countries for $7 so steam started region locking keys which made /v/ throw a fit until it forgot. Maybe I'm misremembering, though, since I don't use steam.
