What are some good games that are free to obtain legally? I've had several friends ask me for games to play during the lockdown and not all of them are fine with pirating. Some of the faggots even refuse to play shared GOG games. Is there any shareware, freeware, FOSSware or Flash game you'd recommend in particular?

Here are some games I could think of at the top of my head:

>Spelunky

>Cave Story

>La Mulana

>Xonotic

>Freedoom

>Doom Shareware

>Quake Shareware

>N

>Tribes 2

>Nitronic Rush

>Tyrian 2000

I'd post the chart but whenever I save it it just gets lost in the mess of my download folder.

One free vidya that springs to mind is Sonic Robo Blast 2, a standalone game running on the Doom Legacy source port

that's incredibly easy to mod since it uses the same wad structure as OG Doom.

The only real downsides are the fact it's on the Doom Legacy engine (awful video options, 35FPS cap, slippery physics.)

and it's fanbase is even more autistic than regular Sonic if you can believe that.

There's a ton of stuff I had fun with when Newgrounds was big, but I can't remember that many specific titles and I'm not sure how good some of the games I enjoyed really were. Boxhead, Bloons, N, Lethal League and some more. Some I don't really remember the name of were some wave based zombie survival game, a cursor maze and some kind of platform fighting game.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knytt The wikipedia page says the chronological order is Knytt -> Knytt Stories -> Nano -> Knytt Underground. I've only played the first game but it sounds like the "1000s of levels" come from the Knytt Stories level designer so it probably doesn't matter what order you play them.

I am a developer, someone who makes money by writing software, and I will never not hate antipiracy moralfags. I even wrote about it in my college ethics class years ago.

>Buy a game when it comes out

>You hate it

>Now you're stuck with it, even if it's a physical copy because publishers actively look for ways to utterly diminish the value of reselling and you feel like a retarded consumer because you are

Alternatively

>Pirate the game

>Buy it a few days later if you like it

>If not, whatever, just delete it

>You end up trying more games because you aren't shackling yourself to a bullshit moralism

>You end up buying more games because you allow yourself to try games you never would have bothered with because it didn't seem worth buying to play

>Buying a game a week later as opposed to buying it now makes no difference to anyone but fatcat suits who only look at first week sales

>If you're a poorfag then it doesn't fucking matter because you never would have bought the game anyway and it's better than walking around in your poorfag ghetto neighborhood

>You don't support antipiracy software is a scam industry that installs more malware than the pirated software itself

Unfortunately to play it in any capacity you have to go to the game's website and create and account, and all the multiplayer commander customization has to be done through the site instead of the game itself. And trying to get a game going with just friends is a lot more obtuse than it should be. Fun game otherwise, though.

I guess I have good timing for this Thread since I was just thinking about his game again after such a long time.

David vs Goliath was a free to download game that was advertised on the front page of Newgrounds back in the mid 2000's

If you look at old forum posts there were people suspecting the game was actually a virus, or came with Adware I was too young to know anything about that kind of stuff at the time, All i knew was that the actual game was pretty damn fun.

It's the same old story of David vs Goliath, only Goliath and his army is armed with Robotic/Cybernetic enhancements. I don't joke when I say that Goliath in this game is literally a walking tank. and to combat this you as David can pick up all sorts of over the top and over powered weapons, and for whatever reasons there is Ninja's too, as you go though the game you can collect pieces of Ninja armor, and once you beat the game with all the pieces you can replay the entire game in Ninja Mode.

The servers for whatever adware the game had are apparently down, and the game is playable for me again, only problem is that there are zero resolution options, and for me at least so far the game has crashed after trying to complete the 1st level.

Either way this game was so stupid it was awesome.

Lyle in Cubesector

Arvoesine isn't freeware, but it does have a 1 level demo you can play for free. Don't play any versions below 1.3. There was a bug in 1.2 that caused it to write constantly instead of only when saving.

8kun won't let me delete the post even though I saved the password, or I'd delete and make a new one with that game removed. I remembered incorrectly that it was freeware, sorry.

Guess I oughta weigh in that Bunny Must Die is one of those not-technically-freeware games, too. Also kinda hard, but fun. Tyrian's a good not-bullet-hell type overhead shooter with a ton of secrets, a bonus minigame, and a nice soundtrack. Pink Hour/Pink Heaven by the Cave Story guy are both freeware. For La Mulana enjoyers, there's Hydra Castle Labyrinth and Maze of Galious.

POSTAL recently went freeware (shame it's not postal 2)

also the Starcraft 2 base campaign from 2010 and all multiplayer for the game including the newer expansions is free, something to think about if you're dying for a newer game that's "free"

>>16907263

mugen is probably the one freeware game I've gotten the most out of

Some ones I bet you guys here haven't heard of.

>Elemental Warrior

A momentum based platformer that's short but fun.

https://bunaguchi.itch.io/elemental-warrior

>Melody of Explosions

A game in which every step you take a bomb spawns behind you. This is can be used to make kill enemies destroy walls, and can kill your character if you're careless,

https://chaoclypse.itch.io/melody-of-explosions

>Dash-Da-Dash DX

A arcade styled game that's built towards bullet hell survival. Like most arcade games you're shooting to see how long you can survive and how high the score can go up. It's got really satisfying sounds and it may cause a seizure if you're not prepared for the colors and senory overload nature of the game.

https://mulengine.itch.io/ddddx

>Cosmic Boll

A demo for a game that looks to be a cross between Kirby, Sonic, and that gba dragonball beat em up game.

It has very nice pixel art, and really punchy sound effects.

https://yoritoshi.itch.io/cosmic-boll

>Demon's Nightmare

A mouse and keyboard controlled run and gun game that's short but has a very high quality assets even if a few of them are stolen.

https://mulengine.itch.io/ana

>Redpulse

The last game here is a very traditional run and gun. Simple but fun. It doesn't do anything mind blowing but it'll give you a few hours of fun trying to go through it.

Reminds me of mystery of epstein island.

That's a pretty comfy adventure game. Not hard to find a download link somewhere.
