That's how the original fight was as well. I think the remake fight is a little bit better, because it forces Jill to interact with Nemesis rather than just ignoring him and firing the rail gun a few times. Having said that, the final Nemesis fight still looks dull as hell. Jill's model does look better, but she comes off as a bit of a cunt. Also, it looks silly for Jill to lift that rail gun when it's two or three times her size.

I see. It looks like this replaces the clocktower fight. I really like that Nemesis is constantly mutating as his environment dictates, but the boss fight seems broken. Nemesis should circle the arena once or twice at most before leaping back down on Jill. Nemesis just running around, while the player has plenty of time to get ammo without being harassed just looks off.

He's been mutating the entire time. They took his final transformation in the original, and made him bigger. Having said that, in the original, Nemesis was able to get stronger by absorbing a tyrant or two. I'm assuming he was able to find some before crashing into the room. If not, then that's just silly.

She becomes a cunt at some point in the game, but it also feels like there were major revisions made to Jill's character while the game was still in development. For comparison, apartment scene Jill is great. Nemesis is constantly on her, and she's exhausted from just trying to survive. She's vulnerable and is shocked to see everything going to hell. Subway Jill comes off as a huge bitch to a group of people trying to survive. They work for Umbrella, but so did many others who got thrown in the wood-chipper. In the original, Jill understands that working with the USBC survivors is the only way that she'll get out of RC alive, so she tries not to rock the boat. Subway Jill is immediately combative to a group of people that she needs to work with to survive.

Because game devs keep trying to meme small player count asymmetric bullshit into being with absolutely zero successful results so far. Evolve and all its knockoffs (again, I have no idea why people try to knock off games that bomb), that one Friday the 13th game, etc. The only one I would be looking forward to at all is the Predator one, because that mode was actually fun in AvP2, but I know they'll fuck it up as well.
People get bored with small playercount MP games really fast. The reason is that the matches become very predictable after not that much playtime. Humans are unpredictable, so less humans in your game means more predictability. MMOs are like the polar opposite of this, capitalizing on the spontaneity of random social interactions for much of their appeal (that one guy who you helped complete a quest ends up helping you in a much bigger way for example). However, from a technical perspective, smaller playercounts are easier to accommodate. From my analysis, the cost of developing a whole new non-coop MP mode just so you can limit it to a pathetic 4 players is not at all worth it because people are going to get bored.

I think it was Umbrella Chronicles that showed Umbrella surviving the charges until Chris and Jill were able to take down their Russian base. The Chronicles games had good material for full games. So you've never played the previous game, got it. Nero cursing isn't anything new, if you buster the priestfag at mission 12 in DMC4 one of Nero's lines is "I'm not interested in your bullshit." Did you also forget that he flips off Dante in the same mission? Nero was always a punk, that's his fucking character.
That "Fuck You" was, for a very specific reason, saved for the last mission and for Nero's transformation, for the last moment of the game. It was a Fuck You to the entire team of Ninja Theory, from fucking mission 1 DMC5 took elements from DmC and made them work, the slow-mo finishers, the style announcer, DMC5 is the biggest middle-finger possible to NT for what they did with DmC.
DMC5 is saying "Hey, we're going to take what you tried to do, make it work, and it's going to sell like fucking hotcakes", Was the opening of the game when Nero brushes off the smoke from Nico not enough of a hint for you? And the game saying that they do not endorse smoking? It was a clear jab to the reveal trailer of DmC.
Nero has always been the closest thing to DmC's Donte, because Donte was Nero 2.0, he's always been the edgy punk of the trio, but unlike Donte and much like the series itself Nero has a heart.

DmC was a game that was gimped by the very fact it was called Devil May Cry. Maybe it would have sucked even more gameplay wise if Itsuno had nothing to do with it.
But if you actually look at this trailer for example, it shows that the concept didn't have to be done in a shit way. The Dante that is in this trailer actually looks like a proactive character that cares about injustice, and taking a stand against the corrupt world.
The Dontè in the actual fucking game is nothing like this, he's wasting away his life in a trailer on the docks, drinking himself to death, rather then actually doing anything about his problems.

I already pointed out the one of the biggest ones of Vergil whipping Doppelganger out of his ass, with out any hint that that's a thing he ever could have done.
Tho at the very least you could say DMC5 Vergil using Doppelganger can represent him now having balance and control over the 2 sides of him, V and Urizen.
The same idea of wanting the execution side of things to be more lenient is the same as DmC. it is very much a streamlined experience when compared to what you had to do to pull of high level things in DMC3 and 4. The inspirations form DmC in how DMC5 was developed is clear if you know what to look for, but that doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, since it takes most of those things from DmC and makes them work far better. the only people who tend to complain are the combo players who get extremely indepth with the systems and have been playing DMC4 Dante for 1000's of hours.

DMC4SE Vergil's move list takes some cues for the DmC (Vergil's downfall) Vergil's move list. and the DMC5 Vergil boss has nearly the exact same move list at DMC4SE Vergil.

In short, the Chinese RE comics are shit and non-canon, Jill's clothes in RE3 have always been a shallow attempt at sex appeal (not to say that's a bad thing, but to deny it is to be willfully ignorant of the circumstances surrounding the game and the worry it wouldn't be as successful).

So, I got the game and played through it. I never played the original, so here's the unbiased opinion, looking at the game on its own.
-The game looks good. Controls well. The dodge mechanics with Jill feels like something you can master and breeze through the game with auto-headlock after a perfect dodge. Had no instances of terrain issues. Carlos' punch was satisfying as all fuck, but also was criminally easy to pull of, with very little punishment for whiffing. It was fucking hilarious to punch/knife a hunter to death.
-The difficulty for standard is bit easy. I was only ever challenged by the Hunters in the hospital, and that was only due to instant-kill moves in tight corridors. The encounters with nemesis pre-evolution were intense, until I realized a single frag put him in the ground as easy as anyone. Frags in general are stupidly powerful, which explains their scarcity. Standard zombies are easier to put down, and get up less often, but there are usually more in single encounters than in REmake 2. Overall it's difficult to rank standard zombies, since I S-ranked hardcore in REmake 2 on all playthroughs. The special zombies that each levels employs arent too challenging. Hunter Gamma are hilarious in how fucking worthless they are. Which makes sense, given their backstory. Hospital Hunters can go fuck themselves. Pale heads imported from REmake 2 are back and as boring as ever, merely serving as roadblocks that you dump magnum ammo into to make sure
magnum ammo has a reason to exist. All nemesis encounters after the train are stupidly easy, and probably could stand to have something a bit more added to the fights.
-I always had just enough resources for any given situation, aside from Carlos in the hospital.The feel of the guns was fine. The grenade launcher felt like it lacked a lot of punch, and the arc was wonky as hell, but I also never found the upgrades for it in my.playthrough, so I cant tell you if those make it not feel dinky. The pistol and shotgun were good. They definitely made the shotgun much more powerful. However, with how plentiful shotgun ammo is/easy to make, it could end up making hardcore a breeze. The magnum existed. Felt like you get it too late to make good use of it. It feels like they only gave it to you out of tradition, since it has no other use than to kill pale heads. The knife changes were for the worse. As well as the ditching of the secondary weapon system. The knife is useful to tag downed enemies, but that's it. Trying to kill a zombie with it is laborious and dangerous. Unlike REmake2 where the knife is super useful (borderline op) which balances its durability, the knife is now worthless, but never breaks, which feels like a less interesting choice.

- Levels were a little linear for my taste coming off REmake2, who's areas constantly folded back in on themselves, and you only truly had 2 levels, sperated by the tram. While now, they truly are levels, with very little backtracking through areas to find more things and unlock news areas. I can't remember much if the layout of most areas, whereas I could draw you a hyper detailed map of REmake2 from memory after playing it once. The only area that truly stuck out, was the weird bug labyrinth. That places is pure fetish fuel and I won't hear otherwise. It's also probably the "scariest" part, since you cant see the enemies well and they get the drop on you easily while you're defenseless activating the breakers. They're never revisited though. Sewers were mercifully short. Labs were also short.
-The story is nothing special. Straightforward. Basic as fuck with little intrigue. Some small instances of nice environmental storytelling, but not enough to be truly noteworthy. The various notes and pamphlets felt like they were trying to world build, give a vision of a pre-ruined RC, but the info given to us felt too generic to really be of interest. I realize that maybe the point waa to have RC be the average midwest town, but besides having some good taste in architecture and statues, paired with a zoning and planning comission who were schizophrenic, there was not much of particular interest.
-The characters were bland. Which is to be expected, this IS Resident Evil. Mikhail was a good man. So was Tyrell. Carlos is inoffensive nice guy who just wants to help. Jill herself is fine. Shes portrayed as strong willed and competent, but her resolve and ability is constantly tested by nemesis. She airs a bit on the side of stronk womyn occasionally, especially when she 1-liners, but her bitchy-ness seems overplayed. She realizes after the train, just how good the intentions of the UBSC were, and stops snapping at them and Carlos specifically The acting was good. The facial animations in the cutscenes were especially impressive.
-The game in general seems awfully short. While I realize that most of the pre-4 RE games can be beaten in 2 hours, this feels sparse. I beat REmake2 for the first time on standard in 8 hours for the A-side and another 5 for the B-side. While the scenarios arent THAT different, it was additional content nonetheless. Not to mention the Tofu mode and Survivor modes. This game only took a little over 5 hours, which is criminally short for a full release game. Maybe they'll add more free dlc content later, but my doubts remain firm. As is stands on release, it's too short of an experience. Some additional areas, or different paths would of greatly benefitted the game for both replayability and length.
Overall, its not bad. Its competent. However, it feels less than what REmake 2 was. It doesnt feel as big or truly important and deserving of attention as REmake 2 was. Which makes sense considering how short the dev time on it was. However, with how much REmake 3 borrows from REmake 2 from assets to engine, it makes me wonder what exactly the production was like, and how rushed it was. Maybe that's the crux of the issue. The game owes so much of itself to REmake2, that it just doesn't bring enough to the table to make it worthwhile. However, because of the tact that it is essentially just an expansion pack to REmake 2, it still maintains a decent level of fun and quality. Worth a pirate if you like REmake 2 and want more, but not buying at the moment.
tl:dr game is a solid 6/10. Not great. But competent in what it's trying to be.

It's not said at the same place as the orginal. Turns out timing matters in writing and telling a story. Modern capcom moved the line to the middle of the game which cheapens and makes the delivery seem odd considering she said that right before the final fight to make the player feel that she grew strong enough mentally that she could slap nemises' shit in. The remake can't make up its mind if she is trying to cope with a shit situation or trying to be a powerful womyn. If you gave a shit about the game then you would see it as well. It's alright. The length doesn't bother me since the pacing is good, but I'm disappointed over how much of a push-over Nemesis is. He's barely in the early game, and when he does show up all you have to do is throw a single frag at him and never have to worry about him again. Curiously, he gets weaker as the game goes on, with his rocket launcher form being the most pathetic as you don't even need to time your dodges against his rockets, you can just outsprint them. I also dislike how they changed the final boss arena to a generic empty lab and a big arena.
Outside of that it's still fun, but it's nowhere near RE3 or even REmake 2. It'd be a lot more fun if they buffed Nemesis to where he doesn't die in 1 frag and actually fucks your shit up like in the orignal.

I just beat the game on Hardcore. to describe it all as simply as I can. It's REmake 2, but it's much more linear, There is pretty much zero puzzle solving So I seems they wanted to focus more on the actual combat side of things this time,which I didn't mind too much since the whole Perfect Dodge/Which Time thing you have does making fighting the stronger enemies or bosses a little more fun then it was in REmake 2.

I agree the game on Hardcore wasn't all that bad for the most part, I died mostly from being careless/overwhelmed around just regular Zombies, then any of the actual Stronger enemies. Still I unlocked Nightmare mode, which says it will make the enemies even more damaging and aggressive. The game did feel like it was holding itself back on Hardcore, so maybe Nightmare will be more interesting.

He wasnt right at all about FF7make and RE3make either. A broken clock can be right once etc though, and that's what happened with MK11 but that doesnt invalidate that he made +20 articles before/after that game's release like a personal autistic grudge rather than being actually informational. I've watched a whole playthrough, since I'll probably never play RE3 Remake because RE2 Remake was bad. My thoughts…
No Live Selection at all, so there's only one way through the game.
Instead of retrieving multiple items in any order you please to start the train, you must go to set points in a specific order. Once again, a fault of the first point of being only one way through the game.
Barry is entirely missing, since there's only one ending and he's not in it.
Jill doesn't goto the RPD. Carlos goes instead.
No randomness with the enemies/items.
No Grave Digger (Worm) boss.
No Clock Tower. You just see it in the distance as Nemesis jumps on it during a boss fight. Merely a reference.
No Park.
No Freeze Rounds for the Grenade Launcher.
The Mine Thrower was merged with the Grenade Launcher in the form of Mine Rounds.
There are less Nemesis encounters compared to the original. Instead they are more delegated to cinematic or interactive cutscenes rather than him seemingly randomly appearing to hunt you.
Nemesis only uses the rocket launcher on you once, and it's in an interactive cutscene where you hold W to run away. He never chases you with it in the city.
Nemesis drops are less rewarding and fewer. The first two drops are handgun upgrades, but after that he just drops ammo, and there's only 4 Nemesis drops in total! That's because..
Nemesis mutates into a demon dog thing 1/3rd through the game, and thus stops pursuing you like he normally would. He only becomes larger as the game proceeds.
Final boss fight with Nemesis is essentially the Dead Space 1 final boss, but actually difficult. He has pustules you have to shoot in order to proceed to hitting his weak spot, in this case it's so you can use the Railgun.
A lot of the cutscenes have basic continuity errors. You may think this is nitpicking, but it's a sympton of laziness by the developers.
For example, Carlos will put his gun down to carry Jill away after she gets poisoned by Nemesis, and then he won't pick his gun back up. However, the gun is no longer on the ground for him to pick up anyway! The people making the cutscene either forgot or didn't care.
The cutscene in the hospital once you detonate the column with C4 to stop the zombies from entering the building causes all zombies inside already to disappear.
Jill will constantly pull out her handgun and shoot it in cutscenes even if you don't have ammo or don't have it in your inventory.
As an addendum, Jill survives stupid physical feats in some cutscenes. She drives a car off the roof of a parking garage, crashes it hood first into the concrete while not wearing a seatbelt, and gets out just fine.
Wooden crates are throughout the game that hold items, but need to be broken to get the item inside. You either need to keep the knife with you at all times to open them, taking up an inventory slot, or use a bullet. You also need to quick swap to the knife every time since it's not a dedicated button like in the RE2 Remake.
Carlos never gets slapped.

The Part with the Rocket launcher actually does require you to move out of the way of the paths for Rockets, it's just really easy to do.
Nemesis actually does follow you around with it, after the scripted running away part, but it in only 1 area and lasts like 30 seconds, I'm sure he could follow you more with the rocket. but you shouldn't have any reason at all to back track at that point, so the Rocket part last for a very short time.
on the other hand when Nemesis has the flame thrower that start of that part may as well be Hold W since you don't do anything against him until you get to a roof top, And Then you have an actual boss fight. For what ever reason Rocket Launcher Nemesis gets no real boss fight.

So from my experience playing the game, fuck the guy who made Jill ugly under the guise of "muh realism!" In a cutscene, Jill survives a rocket exploding less than a foot away from her feet completely unscathed. That's not even goofy Resident Evil logic, that's just a bunch of bullshit.
Jill survives so much shit just because the developers got lazy with their gameplay and/or writing. When you first run into Nemesis with the flamethrower, he grabs Jills head and tosses her into the street. Why? Why didn't Nemesis just crush her skull or skull fuck her with his insta-kill grab (that's mysteriously missing from this game)? That's not even to mention other stuff like how Jill survived driving a car off a 5-story parking garage without a seatbelt or airbags. Jill surviving a train derailing, surviving a multitude of close-range explosions.
I'm not even done with the game and I can tell you that any claims of wanting "realism" for her design are bullshit. If they really were going for realism, at this point Jill should have so many heavy bruises and broken bones that she can't move. REmake 2 was more grounded in reality, the only thing that was a stretch (that I can remember) is a train outrunning an explosion.

Don't have to look it up, they had a free play event just recently. That being said, the antagonist player side in Last Year spends typically spends more time directly fighting the survivors than in Resistance (unless they use the french bastard) and is more vulnerable as a result since his avatar can be "killed", forcing him to use a different one. Were it not for the french guy and the Bioweapon cards the Mastermind would be almost entirely reliant on spawning AI enemies and traps to fight the players which is much more reminiscent of Zombie Master.

I agree man I enjoy the game as far as game play is concerned but she is in way too many over the top bad ass cut scenes where she survives crazy stuff only to die to 3 zombies 5 minutes later when i screw up as the player. I am playing on hardcore mode but I honestly wish they would of dialed back those cut scenes. Like she jumps out of the car at the last second or something would of been better. Incredibly cliched maybe but its resident evil so no big deal.
I also dislike how the rail gun is something she picks up and fires just to look more bad ass at the end. Would of preferred to have it stationary like in the original. They improved the hospital segment at least though but the lab felt tiny and pathetic. No Barry kind of pissed me off too I knew it was coming because of spoilers but damn just put Barry in the damn game. He already came back in Revelations 2 so its not like he is irrelevant to people that never played the first game.
over all its an enjoyable game and maybe 7/10 for me.

Daniel in Resistance is pretty much the only Mastermind that specializes in direct confrontation, since his skills really only support controlling individual zombies while having an EXTREMELY strong ultimate in MR.X, who can actually resist stuns if you're good enough to block, while everyone else focuses on other shit.
Annette focuses on zombie spamming and buffing crowds of them and her Birkin is extremely easy to stun and only works well with other distractions, or when catching people alone And unlike MR.X, if you quit using him early he recharges way faster, so he's best in short bursts, Alex Wesker focuses on traps and debilitation via virus spreading (Which acts as poison and can rack up time damage) and her Yataveo plant can only be used to block an area to stall for time as while it's extremely hard to kill and has great long ranged attacks, it can't move More useful then you'd think, especially since you can place the plant in front of a room that you've already trapped to either manipulate them into going into another door, or wasting the hell out of their time and making them rush past you into a horde of traps and zombies you placed earlier.
Spencer's a fucking dick, and is the best Mastermind in the damn game. He just shoots you and locks doors very well and quickly, which recharges his ability to fucking shoot you. His unique cards just make everything cost way less so he can shoot you more. He barely even needs to put down zombies.
So in regards to ease of use, the characters are unlocked in order of difficulty, Spencer requires the most customization in order to shine at all, since his deck needs to be full of guns, traps and discount cards. Annette requires the least because she's all zombies and enhancers, and you get all of those from the basic deck unlocks, while getting her own rank unlocks give you better zombies anyway. Daniel just needs powerful single zombies and cheap traps, Alex needs expensive traps since she lowers their costs passively anyway.
Tier list bullshit from best to worst: Spencer, Alex, Daniel, Annette.
The reason being is that ironically, using zombies means you rely on the party fucking up and not handling a horde properly, while traps are based on your skill in both camouflaging them with zombies and placing them in the right corners. Against a good party, a well equipped and skilled Spencer will win every time since he can lock doors well and set turrets and traps. Annette will lose most of the time since zombies are just slow and fragile by about stage 3 of the multiplayer when everyone has a fucking rocket launcher.
Daniel will still ALWAYS still be good since his Mr.X Bioweapon is just that good at cleanup.
But honestly you either get paired with scrubs or dumbos so what you play never matters anyway, since it's all about what you want and how good your floor planning is.

I have developed a theory now that I've finished REmake 3 and am thoroughly disappointed with it. I think this is Capcom testing to see how much effort they need to put into a remake to get people to buy it. I played REmake 2 yesterday and it's a god damn masterpiece in comparison. REmake 2 feels like it took years to develop but REmake 3 really feels like something they crapped out immediately after finishing REmake 2 and it needed another year of development.
In REmake 2, there's a lot of gameplay scenarios where I actually thought "Oh, that's smart". Normal difficulty is carefully crafted so that if you're smart with your inventory, you'll always get a hip pouch just when your inventory is getting too full to pick up items. And Hardcore is designed so that players who know the game will have just enough inventory space to fit everything that they absolutely need.
REmake 2 hardcore is designed so that you want to use specific weapons against specific enemies (Lickers need grenade launcher, G monsters need magnum, etc) and that's where your inventory management comes from. It comes from level knowledge and planning ahead so that your ratio of items consumed:picked up is just enough for you to not have to leave any resources behind.
REmake 3 is just save grenades for strong enemies since it seems to just have an insta-kill tag even for base-form Nemesis. And for Carlos, your assault rifle does the same damage as the pistol so there's no reason not to use your handgun the few times the game gives you ammo for it since it has a much higher rate of fire than Jill's handgun (despite both being semi-auto Glocks, eat you heart out, /k/).
You get to the end of it all and it just feels like an experiment to see the difference in profit from REmake 2's high effort and REmake 3's low effort. I get the feeling that REmake 3 is going to disappoint them. REmake 2 was all over social media for a month after it came out. I haven't seen anything for REmake 3 that wasn't from people who are borderline obsessed with Resident Evil.

I just finished playing it. Luckily, GMG has it for around 25% off right now. I believe that remake 3 needed more time for polishing.
As soon as the game starts, there are tons of npcs trying to survive and many dying around Jill. It feels alive and pretty great. You hear a theater full of children go up in flames, and you feel terrible for them. Overall, the downtown section was well made. There were some dumb design decision like Brad dying off-screen, and making Jill come off as a cunt to Mikhail. However, as soon as Jill leaves the downtown section, everything feels railroaded. If the devs had been able to keep the level of polish from the intro and downtown consistent throughout the rest of the game, remake 3 could have been a great improvement on remake 2. Instead we got lazy shit like NEST2, Clocktower getting reduced to a boss arena, Xenomorph Nemesis, teleporting Nikolai, and lots of missed opportunities.
The issue with Nikolai is one that existed in the old games as well. He was the bad guy for all of RC, from 3 to Outbreak. He was here, there and everywhere. His ending dialogue didn't make much sense either. After shooting the vial, he tells Jill she should have agreed to his deal. However, she does agree to it, and beats Nemesis. A cure makes it out of the city in the Outbreak games, so there was no reason for Nikolai to do what he did. The "Don't know. Don't care" line didn't make much sense either. He was manipulating a lot of people, and herding a lot of BOWs, and that required a lot of planning and know-how. His backstory doesn't allow for a laissez faire attitude.
Nemesis isn't G, but he was mutating even faster than Birkin. He falls into the water, and jumps out a few minutes later as a fishman. He gets dissolved in acid, and quickly reforms into an even bigger monster. In the original, the parasite consumes a dead tyrant, so that it could form a new body and continue attacking Jill. The new Nemesis is just silly with how quickly it mutates.
NEST2 was so lazy. At the very least, they could have called it something like DEN or WEB. They already used HIVE. The loss of clock tower was a shame. The player never even enters the building, because a cutscene plays as soon as Jill approaches the gate. I did really like that Jill went through people's homes on the way to clock tower, as the devs were able to show how people lived in RC.
As for Jill's character model, I got used to it, but the devs really fucked up when they said they wanted to make her more realistically dressed. It came off as sjw meddling, which opened up a can of worms. It's also RE, and Jill should have been in a skirt.
As for Carlos, he was great. He's no longer Carlos, but he was still fun to play as. If Capcom does free DLC, I really want to play as Carlos from when USBC first entered the city until he runs into Jill.
Overall, the gameplay was pretty fun. However, the handicap on the grenade launcher does get pretty annoying. Luckily, there's a reload trick that cuts the reload time significantly. I also didn't like how much the knife was nerfed. It feels like the game is balanced around players getting the unlocks like Assault Coins and Crafting Companion.

instead, all shots, anywhere on a zombie's body, do the same amount of damage. The IS a small chance to make the head explode from the front, but more importantly there is a small spot at the base of the skull that works 90% of the time. Give them the Old Yeller treatment and enjoy your saved ammo.

As their limbs fracture off you can enjoy greater mobility in an area without necessarily worrying about killing all the zombies. Evasion's the point of the game anyway. a common tactic would be to shoot out a leg, get behind them and use the knife to take off the remaining limbs. Knives are limited though so save them for when you need them

if you've played the original, they've changed a few things around in terms of structure:
there's less midgame interaction between the main characters
zapping's gone. Tough
no more giant spiders, a lot more shambling horror that replaced them
there's a lot more to the sewers
you can't skip the gator boss in scenario A to leave him for B as you could in the original (more lost zapping)
X gonna give it to ya in scenario A as well as B
overall I think you'll find that not only is the area design faithful to the original but it's somewhat more complex in a few places. This game was clearly done by a team that cared.

Knives are insanely useful in remake 2. They do ass loads of damage, that's also tied to your framerate. They save on ammo and are perfect for killing downed zombies. Claire and Leon can stand on the backs of crippled zombies and they can't retaliate and are pinned in place. It was sad to see them get completely nerfed in remake 3.

As a player becomes more familiar with the game and the map, it does get a lot easier to avoid enemies. However, for players looking for an easier time beating the game in general, I'd recommend clearing a few areas before X shows up. Clearing the library, the area outside of the west office with the vending machines, and the long west hallway that has windows that can be boarded up. Two of the zombies in the library will immediately aggro, and the one eating the corpse will not attack until the players goes up the nearby metal ladder. He can be ignored until X shows up, which is usually when a player uses the metal ladder to quickly get up to the goddess statue's room. The area outside of the west office gets packed full of enemies, and it can get really bad if the zombies are allowed to live there. A licker shows up later in the same area, and you really don't want to deal with zombies and a licker at the same time. X will also chase you through this area as well, but it's possible to ignore the licker if you can beat X to the jack handle and beat him back into the west office before he catches you. If he does catch you in the area outside of the west office, there's a good chance he and the licker will double team you. For Leon, it helps to reduce the number of enemies in the long west hallway by either killing them early or boarding up the windows, because X will likely chase him to a necessary room in the hallway. A licker will have spawned in the hallway as well, and X will likely force you to go down the hallway and through a lot of enemies, if they haven't been taken care of beforehand.

I am a fucking dill: I did the G4 fight on a speedrun (i.e: to unlock the Samurai) about 30+ times, with really only the unmodified handgun and grenade launcher– including redoing the whole Sewer stage twice to store more flashbangs & etc.
…then one time I completely ran out of ammo, and went 'fuck it' and just chopped into G4 with the infinite knife.
THAT WORKED. FUCK. (and didn't get a hit on me once as I stayed behind him). The game should have given me a S+++ rank for taking down the last boss with a knife, goddamn.
And there is a fucking real Baofeng UV5R Ham radio in the game.

The difficulty of the zombies is extremely overblown by people who are shit at aiming. I struggled on my first playthrough as well but it becomes obvious if you pay attention that your success rate for kills improves dramatically if you shoot directly at the brainpan and not non-vital areas of the head, such as the jaw. I've recently played the classic games as well and the number of shots to kill a zombie is very comparable to RE2make Hardcore if you shoot the correct locations. It's about 5-7 shots in the classic games, and it is more swingy in the remake – something like 4-10 if you shoot in the head.

There are no random respawns you fart knocker. The respawns are scripted with certain events as in the classic games. The positioning of the zombies can change randomly, but not the number or type. The moment a zombie or any other monster spawns, it is tracked globally by the game as a unique zombie and when it dies, it's dead.

That's what I meant. If there's the case of a walker being too close to the door (and managing to escape its grasp), then closing the door, waiting ~5 seconds, and opening it again, puts them in a different place (..or puts 3-4 walkers next to the door..). Although sometimes those place is scripted (the Lickers in the dog kennel always return to their reset positions, for example).

The door mechanics could have been done slightly better, but are still necessary to retain many of the aspects of the original games which used doors as loading screens and were usually hard barriers between you and any given monster, unless said monster was scripted to follow you. The most annoying part is that you can't peek to find randomly moving zombies. However this would have been an easy enough problem to avoid if they just placed the possible random locations for zombies more intelligently instead of right next to doors that you have no way of looking through.

The knife does a shit ton of damage, but grenades are how you easily kill G4. He goes down by popping all of his eyes, which a grenade does in one shot. It's been a while since I played the game, but it only took like 5 grenades or so to take him down. As for G3, Claire's acid rounds will essentially stun lock him if you only hit after he's recovered from a previous stun. For Leon, pop his eyes and unload on G3 with the flamethrower. For Leon's super tyrant fight, you really just need to survive and make sure to interrupt his insta-kill a few times.

That works very well. Cut off a leg, and they'll never stand again as well. After playing the game for a while, you'll memorize where zombies are going to be and can plan a route or action beforehand. Crippling or killing certain zombies can make runs a lot easier as well.

I mostly agree with you, but RE3make was legitimately much shittier than RE2make. RE2make had a couple of redeeming character designs (Mr. X, Leon) even though Claire looked like someone force fed growth hormones to an 11 year old girl. RE3 doesn't. Carlos now looks like a poor man's Keanu Reeves because I guess that's supposed to appeal to some women? While I could consider Claire as a "good faith effort" to make a cute character with the "girl next door" look that ultimately failed badly, Jill seems more like they intentionally chose a butch model for no reason other than some women are threatened by the presence of attractive women and attractive women aren't allowed to do daring feats any more. The spats complaint is rather debatable however, since there isn't really a camera angle where you can see up Jill's skirt in the original anyways (unless there is a ladder scene or something that I'm forgetting). However, even if you ignore the uninspired character redesigns, the rest of the game is just objectively shittier as a remake than RE2make was. It's less faithful to the original game, much more linear, and removes a ton of content because the game was even more rushed than the original. RE3 was still survival horror despite the addition of dodge because you still had to manage resources carefully and choose routes. RE3make simplifies everything greatly; key items are used almost immediately and you always seem to have "just enough" inventory space to do everything without issue. Also, the replay value is virtually non-existent.

Just so you know, the original game was extremely strict on the timing for this, to the point where wasting health by being intentionally hit so you can try and master the dodge isn't worth it because you will fuck up so many times before you ever get the timing down. It's so strict that it almost seems like RNG. Notable exceptions seem to be dodging Nemesis and dogs while aiming, but zombie grabs are pretty unpredictable so you can't just dab on all zombies. But it was supposed to be a last minute "Oh shit I hope I don't get hit" button rather than a move you can use to make the game look easy.

I'm not sure if they designed the difficulty this way based off the original games, but it seems to me like they designed "Hardcore" to be the "original RE hard mode experience." Allegedly, they had a B-team working on this in a dev schedule that overlapped with RE2make, which is why RE3make has stupid mistakes that RE2make doesn't.

? .. I recall it being the other way around– RE3 being the 'first' to give the same hardness as the Japanese game to the US/Euro edition. It also introduced the Jap idea of "S Ranks" to the game. In the PSX RE2 Dualshock, the weapon-unlocking ratings (1h30m plays, <4 saves, etc.) weren't indicated in the final result as anything better than "A".
(Although I have a partial memory that the Gamecube RE2 had some other difficulty-related changes, however that came out after RE3.)

Something about all the remakes that shits me– the overuse of "Fuck".
Cops don't swear in the face of citizens (Leon), especially not chosen for their mental acuity SWAT types (Jill). and otherwise trained handguns users don't stop concentrating to be angry at the at the critical point (Claire).
…but some burger localizer thought it would make the game more of the le edgies.

Pretty sure REmake 3 was literally made in one year as a mod for REmake 2.
