Aloy's problems go far deeper than just not living up to the concept art. Honestly, I'm more upset that they made her into a boring stronk Mary Sue, rather than lean into her character bio and make her a social autist from years of living in isolation. Would have given the character a good dynamic when forced to go into cities and rely on other people, or to put herself into positions in order to help others - even if doing so is greatly uncomfortable to her. And most of all, I'm just sick and fucking tired of the idea in games that the player character is the central axis of any game world and all the NPCs recognize and make concessions to the player in order to keep them invested in the game. They were always fairly rare, but I still miss games where the player is treated as an outsider that must prove they're intentions and value before being treated with respect or even indifference. But publishers are so shit-scared that a few meanie NPCs will hurt the players delicate ego and cause them to quit the game and turn them off of buying future titles, that all you end up with are games entirely focused on giving the player an ego power-trip.
Aloy could have been an endearing autist wild-child with a heart of gold, but can't help making people around her suspicious of her odd behavior or put off with constant social faux pas that she's completely oblivious to.
Should have leaned more Tomoko, and less Vagina Christ.

Okay, I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. That might work for console-to-pc or digital storefront to digital storefront but that will never work for consoles. If it's on multiple consoles, the console with the most people on it or better hardware will get more customers. Even if the hardware is similar, most people would gravitate to the console with more people playing it or whoever the console with the most friends on it are. If there no better reason why no exclusives is a bad idea, then look to xbone. If you can play most of there games that also come to PC, why buy an xbone?
Exclusivity is the driving force of competition in a lot of ways. It's the main thing that is fueling the steaming wars now and many industries. If there is no reason to compete, companies would likely not try at all. They would be more cost-effective instead of self-improving. Also, you're forgetting about cost of making them for multiple platforms. No console company is going to pay to have another game on another console, whether they funded the developers or not. They would only pay to a rival or potential rival is if they get some sort of profit out of it. Most multi-platformed games are self-funded deals that only work when the game is successful or the ones financing it can gamble to get that broader audience. I'm sure every game developer would love to have their games on multiple platforms at launch but on their end, financial they probably can't unless they are successful first. Then they become exclusive without choice.
I'm sure there is some far off future where there is no exclusivity and we can play any game we want anywhere without restriction. Like with what cloud gaming is trying to doing but that is even showing similar problems so that isn't looking to be the solution. Competition will exist if there is at least 2 people involved. Don't forget that these companies have their hands in more cookie jars than just game development so for this star trek like utopia that you offer, you need to actually dismantle and reformat the whole economy to make it work overall and not exclusively for video games. Games for all is a much simpler proposition to say than to actually do when you've got multiple egos at play who think they know what is good for the gaming industry.

So exclusives act as a way to differentiate your platform from the competition, to plug holes that 3rd parties won't initially cover during the critical early sales periods, and to direct the flow of conversation. A game like Gravity Rush was a borderline flop, but the kind of person who buys a game like Gravity Rush is probably going to buy a LOT of games over the span of that console's life - and they're going to generate a lot of positive buzz about the system. It's a loss-leader. And overall, the market is richer for having a game like GR being produced. These more experimental titles can potentially spark the next big fad, or at the very least flesh out novel mechanics and refine them, for other developers to pick up on later.
Unfortunately, it tends to fall apart mid-way into a console's life when sales settle the system into it's market niche. Microsoft tried it to some success early in the 360's life by commissioning exclusive Japanese games to try to attract more customers for those genres… then quickly pivoted to Gears/Halo/Forza when that model started making far more easy money. Sony still puts out a number of novel titles, like Dreams and Concrete Genie, but their moneymaker exclusives are third person cinematic shooters and they're leaning more into that. They also did it with Astrobot to push game developers out of their "object manipulation tech demo" rut and prove that there's third person platformers can work well in VR, not to mention they also paid Capcom a decent chunk of change to make RESI7 VR exclusive to PSVR. Partly because it's a big name title, but also to "show how it's done" in adapting a major non-VR platform to the VR space.
On the other end of the spectrum, though, is EGS who just buys out limited exclusivity from major third party releases to try to choke the market - rather than commissioning or creating anything of value themselves.

Uniform, unique hardware, designed only for games, and even sold insanely cheaply at console launch. From graphics to controls, from the ground up, this game was designed to be played on this machine. Supposed to play right out of the gate and shows my age, seeing how that is definitely in the past.
Guaranteed games to play. Nintendo will always have Mario and Zelda. And will deliver shit like Smash, or Fire Emblem. Meaning you can go into a store, and pick up a "Nintendo seal of quality" game to play.
And for the small price of shilling hardware or now online retailer, that gaming studio now has a bigger budget, with an immediate cash injection, to make their game the best possible game.

It baffles me too because using a longbow/warbow takes training from childhood, and back and shoulder muscles that women just can't develop under natural circumstances.
