Lately I've been messing around with Retroarch and Beetle PSX to increase the internal resolution and apply some filter to some PSX games. And it looks magnificent, if I turn it on and back off, the low resolution looks almost ridiculous in comparison. But that shit is buggy as hell, pic related tends to crash on saving and ruin the save files, and it took hours of messing with the settings to even get it to run. I've tried to do the same thing with N64 emulation, but that emulator doesn't even boot.

How do you enjoy you early-3D emulation?

If you're going to be playing with a higher internal resolution, I'd recommend just leaving the filters off.

Otherwise, try setting it back to the default resolution and give the crt-royale shader a try. It seems like a bit much at first, but it really grows on you after a while. I like that the scanlines have variable width and glow like real scanlines, instead of just being a bunch of horizontal lines, and the slot mask helps break it up further.

shaders -> load shader preset -> shaders_cg -> crt -> crt-royale-ntsc-320px-svideo.cgp

Screenshots tend not to do the shader justice, they get taken at a higher resolution than I'm viewing them at, and attempting to downscale them results in moire patterns, but this is the general idea.

I think this is what I use with SNES games, it looks really nice. I might mess with the shaders when I figure out how to make the emulator itself more stable. But I guess when PAL Spyro 3 runs fine at one point, everything else also will. It's super sensitive to the emulator's settings, probably because of the convoluted copy protection. Right now it would only introduce additional chaos to add shaders to the setup. Disabling the dithering also makes a huge difference. I have yet to decide if filters and shaders improve the image or actually look out of place at 16x resolution.

I'm assuming you've got a pretty good computer if you're trying to run it at 16x resolution, but just to be sure, is it having issues even at native resolution and default settings? Because the emulator is working fine for me just "out of the box", I've played through a couple PS1 games over the years on the Mednafen/Beetle PSX core without issue.

The N64 emulation on Mupen64Plus-next core is working for me too, even with increased internal resolution, I don't know why it doesn't boot for you. Try going into the shaders menu while emulating a game for a different system and disabling shaders, then loading up a N64 game so that it loads with the shaders disabled. I know shaders can cause issues if you are using gliden64 instead of angrylion for the RDP. Otherwise I have no idea honestly.

Yes, my computer shouldn't be the problem. I've tried it on the native resolution and the same thing happens, the game is being saved and then the screen turns blank. Trying to load the save file also ends in a blank screen. It happens on a specific level in Spyro 3, the Cloud Spires that seemingly just cannot be loaded. Tekken 3 on the other hand works even better than on other emulators. Beetle PSX seems to somehow have a harder time running PAL games than NTSC ones. I didn't even got PAL games to boot without doubling dynarec event cycles and enabling skip bios option.

Mupen64 runs now. It really works out of the box, I just forgot to set the video driver back from vulkan to open gl.

Technically yes, and no at the same time.

DobieStation is making some massive progress towards that and already outclasses PCSX2 in a few cases, but it's still heavily WIP and obviously not in an usable state even outside of the obvious speed issues.

Granted the good part of that is since PCSX2 and Dobie share a few devs many of the stuff that gets found goes back to PCSX2, like the fix for white pulsing shadows in Ridge Racer V.

Wat is the name of the song at ca 7.15? I remember hearing it but not where it's from, maybe a ps2 horror game?

Haven't used a PS emulator in forever. After the FFVII remake shitstorm that is going to come, I'm betting that roms of it will be taken down over multiple emulation sites. I was fucking with it with other ROMs I had previously and saw this thread and here I am.

>emulation sites

Anyone who doesn't use torrents/shares is a normalfag incapable of learning that deserves every bit of abuse they get

Since nintendo went hard after emulation sites, better have already made local copies of everything remotely worthwhile.

Even having one site weather the storm, eventually normalfags will continue to ask for new sites, and that one site will be next on the chopping block, as it rises in popularity.

Or have a torrent ready to go. Or lurk enough in shares, so that you are prepared to contribute, and not just leech.

Majoras mask absolutely does not run excellently at 1224. I wouldn't even say it runs excellently at max overclock.

I'm having trouble running Wipeout 3 SE on retroarch. It won't acknowledge the game when scanning for content. Manually trying to load the content doesn't work either. I assume it has something to do with the fact, it has 14 bin files, one for each of the tracks which can be played directly off the disc. Anyone have a clue to make it work?

I'm downloading it from another source, just to see if the one I got off of coolroms isn't at fault.?

I fixed it. It was missing the .que file. Just had to make it myself.

For those that recommended the Wii u as a home emulation console, thanks. This console is amazing, especially paired with gc adapter for nintendont. The classic controllers give old nintendo console extra life

Depends what do you plan on playing? I say save your money but if you want to play games other than ps2 such as saturn or dreamcast i say get one of those emulation consoles. If you want to play ps3 games and other stuff go for a ps3 console
