I used to play the shit out of the Star wars and Indiana Jones ones. They were really fun to play with my brother, and i liked that you could create your own character too.
Also, Did Dimensions turn out to be good? I never tried it.

By adding pretty much nothing in the year or two it was in early access? Or did they actually make it worse?

I wish LEGO would make different games again. It's all the same explore-a-thon shit these days. Nothing wrong with the kind of game they make, just that they made the same game over 25 times. LEGO games used to be so varied, now it's all "safe".
>Also, Did Dimensions turn out to be good? I never tried it.
I played the beta of dimensions. Despite being an MMO, it plays the exact same as all the other modern LEGO games, featuring the exact same mechanics. Which is to say, soulless garbage.

He must have meant Lego Dimensions, which was TT Games making a toys to life type game like Amiibos or Disney Infinity.
In short, it was good, but expensive compared to other toy types. You'd buy character (single character, two vehicles), team (two characters, one vehicle), or story (one character, two vehicles, unlocks mini-campaign), and it would unlock varying amounts of content ranging from a free roam world of a few hours of content, or several levels based on a game/movie/tv show (in addition to character abilities needed for other collectables).
What it had over other sorts of games like Infinity was that any franchise could be mixed, like The Lego Movie characters driving around Springfield in K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider for a lot of really silly shit (and silly flavor text of characters reacting to their surroundings/vehicles), and the toy pad which was 100% required as you needed to shuffle around characters in real life to solve puzzles.
The major negative was that unlike it's main competition, Amiibos, LD stuff could ONLY be used for Lego Dimensions, so you're plopping down 15-30 bucks for something that can only be used for one game (as absurdly huge LD was compared to other Lego games).
8/10 would pay over 200 bucks for legos with NFC chips again (even more if it meant we ever get the them-promised year three of content, the game was canceled after year two)

Worst part is, the game still runs just as bad as it did back then.
So now you can't build, you can't explore because of lag, there's nothing interesting to explore or find, there's a barely functional building system, there's no system for making your own vehicles, and worst of all, the steamroller doesn't work any more.

There was one builder game I had a long time ago. Basically you got a big ol' sandbox, you could build whatever you wanted, and even take control of your creations. If I recall correctly, you even could build vehicles.
Building also was fairly intuitive, as I recall. Though that might be childhood understanding speaking, but, I swear it worked far better than it does in Worlds. Never understood why they couldn't just implement that again.

I spent ages in that stupid thing, literally pretending to be an office worker in some of the prefab buildings. Drive to work, drive home, snap, get explosives, blow everything up…
I still have the CD, somewhere. Doubt it still works, though.

From what I've heard, you are actually getting inferior quality. For small builds this doesn't matter. But for large builds it can get a bit finicky to make everything fit and the stickers are pretty bad too.
Still, if you just want cheap LEGO to build shit with, it's decent enough.
