The best part about Morrowind is piecing together an NPC's personality based on their actions and dialogue. For example, a new player might never suspect Eydis Fire-Eye is basically a mafia boss when they first meet her, but it becomes apparent later when you talk to the Ald-Ruhn Fighters Guild questgiver and then you think back and realize that Eydis was forcing you to do the dirtiest work possible, waging shadow wars with the Thieves Guild and later on, killing people because they impede guild advancement or economic gain.

With that said it is definitely a great game though and some of the above I listed doesn't necessarily detract that much from the game, perhaps even at all depending on how you see it. I would have liked to have seen the entirety of Morrowind but back then when I first played it its not like there was really anything like it of its scale so I never thought of that until many years later. One thing that is pretty definitive though is the combat just isn't great. Had this alone been as good as Oblivion or Skyrim at least the game would be several times better than it already is and would be worth going back to to play over and over.

In Skyrim and Oblivion there is no way to actually dodge an attack, for example. You can run away from the enemy attacking you, but you can't actually dodge while remaining close the way you can in Morrowind.

There are no roleplaying elements in Morrowind. Extremely few dialogue choices. The NPCs should say something interesting instead of spewing hyperlinks. Your interaction with NPCs is extremely limited overall. Games made by the time Morrowind released already have much more interesting characters, so there's no excuse. The world is lifeless. It feels a single player MMO. The idea of the skill system was to naturally get better just by playing, but instead it makes leveling a chore. The combat is dogshit. There's no depth to it. Exploiting the game to make a completely overpowered character seems to be the only point people try to make, or some way of exploiting the terrible AI. That's entertaining if you're a dullard. Most of the quests are unexciting. They mostly consist of walking between two places just to talk to an NPC, or walking to dungeon and finding a trinket. Your character moves much too slowly. This makes walking anywhere a massive chore. You can use the fast travel system, but that doesn't bring you very close to where you need to be. The only way to fix that is by knowing where specific items are, or exploiting the game. Having to jump constantly just to move a somewhat faster pace across a big map is awful game design. The entire game is tedious.

The only think I'd really hammer the game for besides the level design is the arch-vile. I replayed Doom II earlier this month and counted his appearances. He first shows up on Map 11, which is 1/3rd through the game and only appears around 10 or 11 times after that. I think 30% of his appearances in the whole game are on single map.
It's like id made this enemy and had no clue what to do with him. He's always just randomly thrown around, at times I feel like id should have cut him altogether.

Personally the only Elder Scrolls game I truly ever loved and played all the way through was Oblivion since it played so much smoother than "vanilla" Morrowind at least and it also had a far superior soundtrack to Skyrim's barely existant soundtrack (which admittedly was more of am ambient soundtrack than a regular song type of soundtrack) and I felt Oblivion's score was only slightly better than Morrowind's. Morrowind too had excellent music, again I just feel Oblivion's is ever so slightly better.
Man, now that I think about it I really wish Bethesda would remake Morrowind with smoother controls and overall game experience as then I could personally finally see and understand what you PC guys are raving about and yes I've played Morrowind but its just too clunky for my tastes to enjoy but I will admit that much like you PC gamers I did find it's world extremely interesting and some of the stuff that happens is wild ie like for example I think I remember this NPC falling out of the sky or coming down like Superman almost and it wasn't a glitch and I think he even talked to me and I was blown away by the coolness and randomness of it all at the time.

I started with Daggerfall, because I'm old as fuck, Morrowind was a huge fucking upgrade and so at the time it was ultra emersive. Oblivion had a lot of visual upgrades but was made for a console so classes, skills, ie– the number game got butchered for simplicity. It also had weird other shit like ever bandit after level 20 had full glass or ebony armor. Skyrim looks amazing but god dam the class and skill system is designed for/by retards.

The Vikings soon adapt by getting themselves jobs and live in a house, but find themselves numbed in such a humdrum life. However, they learn that old habits die hard when Garfield finds their patron god. The Vikings run off north, never to be seen again. The last panel says "it was an especially warm day in spring of 2984" while a partially defrosted iceberg is shown with the same Vikings reviving, thus their story begins again.
