Also, N. Sane Trilogy was good. It is slightly worse in most regards, but very slightly. So slightly that added Time Trials and playable Coco make up for it. Not that I'd say it's worth paying for if you have access to the originals without paying.
R&C is worse than the original but also different enough that I can kind of judge it as its own game. And as such, it's one of the worst in the series, but still one of the best games in years, because modern games are shit, so even the worst R&C game is better than almost any modern game.

Has anyone playing the leaked version noticed that Sewer Speedway's shortcut jump feels really weird? It seems like, rather than just having the entrance at a jump height, they have some sort of weird sweet spot you have to hit to bonk you up there, so you can't come in at an angle anymore. I noticed the same thing but in reverse on Oxide Station, it will crunch your arc if you come out of the huge jump going too fast so you don't accidentally land on the part of the track overlapping the bottom. It feels really shitty.

I would also add to this that the AI will fucking kamikaze on you rather than give you the victory, which sometimes can be a nice change of pace but I get quite vexed when I see two people with TNT trying to swerve into me when I'm already next-to-last place.

Blue Orb has been nerfed if you don't have 10 wumpas, now it only attacks half the people in front of you and it's also quite inconsistent and random but it's much better, given that online you may have three-four of them one after the other
Giving Hard CPUs the ability to use Orbs and Clocks really makes me appreciate how much thought the CTR dev team used to put into the game, still they provide a good challenge
CNK tracks are for the most part okay in their new layout
TONS of options, really allows you to customize your experience and pick and choose what you wanna play like
Nerfing Oxide and Penta were the right call, too bad you can't use powered up versions of them offline
On the ground, you are 100% in control of all your movements, most "fake wall" collisions from CTR don't exist anymore outside of a few areas that are OOB if approached at a weird angle
All UI alternatives are equally as useful, I thought the CNK one would have been out of place but it really isn't, also the fact you can see how lit up your tires are instead of the turbo meter is a really cool touch that I didn't know I wanted
Momentum plays a huge part of this game, sliding into a wall isn't an instantaneous speed loss but it really fucks you up, while keeping turbo chains is much more immediately satisfying and you can get some serious air time with good speed

Air movement is absolutely fucked, jumps are shorter than in CTR and while the CTR devs had the foresight to add a bit of leniency and gravity to your jumps, you will never make a truly satisfactory one here unless it's by a luke
The engine accelerates you when you're airborne to make up for the loss in height, this causes you to often under or over shoot your high jumps, frankly speaking jumping is fucked as a mechanic and so is short hopping, to the point that sometimes it's faster to just go the long way around a shortcut and chain tons of turbos than actually taking the shortcut proper
Most shortcuts got reworked, but whether it's due to the new physics or a conscious decision by the devs is undetermined, particularly bothersome are the Crash Cove and Sewer Speedway jumps, they're unreasonably harder now
While stills of the levels look amazing, all the shit that goes on at the same time in the background is seriously distracting, I've had instances where background elements would get the jump on me and make me miss a jump, overall the levels are too busy for their own good
The models are fine but frankly speaking the art style is absolute dogshit and an insult to the 90s toons homage of CTR
The voice acting is horrible, the main cast is competent but they have such a terrible direction, I feel like a retard trying to listen to what they say, they turned 90% of the cast in retards who grunt and bing bing wahoo their way to victory, also most voices are unreasonably high pitched
CNK characters look terrible next to CTR ones

While chaining turbos is really satisfactory, tracks are now really character dependent compared to way back, those with larger curves are almost required to have players with poor handling, also high accel characters are still useless outside of the Adventure mode
Unrelated, but the meta has also changed considerably. In CTR it was mostly Penta + usually high speed characters for time trials and high accel for Adventure mode, now it feels like that high speed characters will dominate all categories because of how momentum plays a much bigger role and how some tracks require you to just take a long shot at everything
