They feel slightly better to use than membrane ones, less likely to miss your input, and less likely to fail, total failure is extremely unlikely since even if a switch does fuck up, you can just replace it individually.
I have a very old G11 which has one key's rubber dome failed, but it still works otherwise, a G710+ with brown switches, which is a very nice but pricey mechanical keyboard, and I bought a chinkshit full mechanical keyboard for my father that types a lot and always had keyboards fuck up. The chinkshit is James Donkey 619, also with brown switches, it's holding up fine and despite the retarded name has good reviews. Costs like $50-$60.
My favorite and the one I'm using now is the G11 though, I just like the layout of the extra keys and media buttons more. Been using it like 9 years now, almost non-stop.
575435 No.16607527
The keyboard brand is not as important as the mechanical switches the keyboard uses.
If you're not using mechanical switches you are going it wrong.
I prefer Cherry browns myself. They require little pressure to use, offer the tactile feedback a good keyboard should, but don't hit you with an overly loud clicking noise (some people like it, but I myself type loudly enough as it is, so I avoid it).
Also, they're great to clean, since the keys clip off with a special tool and snap right back on again.
This pic should help.
Second pic is what I use. I got it for $50 dollarydoos, so you should be able to get it for about $30 burgerbucks.

to clarify, the "bump" is the feeling of pushing the actual key at about the halfway point in the press, and the "click" is just the noise, right? and the force is the number, the higher the pressure it takes to trigger the switch.

Yes and no. Both have a tiny bit of travel before you hit a wall, and overcoming that wall will jump the key forward to the actuation point, with blues having their high-pitched click. It's not just the click though, the bump itself feels different between the two, with browns it's softer, with blues it's very crisp. With good earpro on, you can still easily tell the difference between the two just by feel. For vidya, browns with o-rings are maximum comfy.
