Dark Void. Great soundtrack and a semi decent UFO hijacking system mid battle, verticality with jetpacks. I think i recall weapon upgrades, maybe a weapon wheel? Or at least carrying about 4. The acting is pretty awful though and the story also sucks, but if you are on of those people who can ignore that stuff you might get one or two good runs out of it.

Actually I take that back, there are a few first-person shooters that feature good verticality. They don't feature gravity and jumping physics though.

Freedom Wars was built around verticality in a lot of levels trying to get a good vantage point to take down enemies.

Duke Nukem 3D and Descent. Funny how the first games to really use it are still pretty much the only ones that have.

Styx Master of Shadows's level design is built around verticality even when the levels are horizontal, as it is a stealth game with a protagonist who can jump really high and is best hidden when he's on small ledges and beams. It's the game sekiro goddamn wishes it was.

Stealth in Sekiro is so bad that the stealth = invisibility mechanics in MMOs are orders of magnitude better.
In any case, most TRPGs tend to have a vertical plane that is both part of the level design and gameplay mechanics.

It's always been a crappy genre with weak mechanics because 1) the perspective simply isn't good for character-oriented action like platforming and 2) developers are obsessed with realism to a fault.
