>how do I got good at tetris
this is a terse guide. It goes from beginner to autistic no-life.
>basic
<learn SRS finesse (IMPORTANT!!!). use BOTH rotation buttons. build muscle memory. yes, learning that shit sucks. suck it up.
<learn basic stacking (what piece combinations work, avoid 3-column high holes)
<get to 60 TPM (1:30 sprint). play marathon or 40L
<get comfortable with looking at previews (aim for 1 or 2. 3 is sweetspot btw)
>intermediate-advanced
<improve your raw speed further (40L sprint. try to get to 120 TPM (50 second sprint)) NOTE: time is affected by how fast the tetris game is (line clear delay, DAS, ARR, etc.)
<learn t-spin setups (goal is to LEARN TO IDENTIFY PATTERNS in your stack and build MUSCLE MEMORY. mind you, there's a METRIC FUCKTON of them. plain ones, kaidan (stair), donation, imperial cross, those weird air t-spins, STSD, T-spin triple, etc.)
look up templates in a wiki and/or watch high level play. actually, do both.
<learn downstacking. go for either doubles/triples, or even better prophecy t-spins or REN (can't send jack shit if you die after 3 seconds in right?)
<do learn other spins (z/s-spins are a godsend. j/l spins too. I-spins are not as useful but good to know. j/l/s/z spin triples are very situational but still appreciated for that one case (e.g. j/l-spin triple for when you left 2 blocks under t-spin triple overhang or for when STSD has too much empty space below notch, or just to quickly abort a STSD)
<build muscle memory for the above, get faster at multiplayer tetris (40L is useless for multiplayer by this point). DO glance at all previews when you're waiting on a specific piece
>for non-absolute shit tetris games
<glance at your opponent's field occasionally. can't have 'em spiking you, and lets you know when they're in a pinch so you can spike them yourself.
<learn opener(s) (e.g. TKI, perfect clear, 4-wide (center, side), DT Cannon, hachispin). goal is to build it sanic fast (3-4 seconds (~6 for 4-wide))
For reference, decent players can send 60 attacks per minute (fills your field 3 times per minute) while reaching 120-140 TPM in multiplayer. top players can manage 80 (4 entire fields), while reaching 180-220 TPM in multiplayer (assuming fast game). Did I mention it takes years to git gud?

>The goal in tetris is to clear lines as fast as possible.
you're wrong. it's attacks per minute and attaining high efficiency (high APM/piece ratio), especially in fucking slow Tetris games like faggotris 99
>Play without hold.
shit nigger what are you doing. avoiding hold in multiplayer is sub-optimal for maximizing attacks per minute.
>>16598041
hard difficulty tetris is useless for multiplayer. high gravity gets in the way of proper piece placement.
