Half True. The 'American ideals' are the ones outlined in the mythos - liberty in the various forms (speech, guns, etc.), and the ability to climb up. The 'American dream' of going from shoe-shining boy to billionaire is a big part of it. Is it accurate? Not really. Is there much vertical room in the present state? No. Does the state actually respect liberty? Not a great deal. Do all of the people? Less and less, but mostly isolated to the coastal areas. I would agree that consumption is the biggest thing pressed currently, and that's a big shame. But the actual 'ideals' are separate from the actions taken.

Again you're talking about the CONTEXT in which these mechanics are applied. If you have 2 games the use the exact same shooting mechanics but in one of the games it encourages, outright requires the use of that shooting mechanic whilst in the other game you have zero opportunity to use it then it's still an objective fact the both games have the same mechanics but the minute to minute contextual gameplay between the two is different.

He wanted us to know he is completely responsible for it, that this his magnum opus, but he couldn't bring his vision of the story in any coherent way other than a few good "cinematic" scenes here and there. This is that brainlet "black and white" reason I'm talking about where it has to be only one of Kojima or Konami that's in the wrong. It was a combination of both. And while this is an error on Kojima's part is partially compounded by the fan expectation surrounding the game.
