Assuming you have case and a power supply already, this is all you need to get started, really. The Ryzen 5 2400 APU has Vega 11 graphics which even though it's integrated graphics it blows your 6670 out of the water, and I assume since you've been using that 6670 you don't have any games that would require a current gen GPU so the integrated graphics will do for now. And since it shares the same AM4 socket with the rest of the Ryzens, including the soon to be released 3000 series, you can upgrade later. You can pick a GPU later if you want, but that depends on if you want to play newer games.

On that note, I've been thinking of switching from using winhiip as the installer to trying out hdl dump. I've been playing Persona 3 FES for the past month. The save file says I've played for 150 hours. I beat the game at mid level 70s and I'm doing another playthrough on the undub patch for 100% compendium and the NG+ exclusive boss. I don't plan to finish the Answer because fuck grinding. I also don't think their struggles in the Answer (which I spoiled myself to) are very interesting compared to the main game.
I thought about playing Persona 4 but I don't like the removal of the tactics system which made strategizing in battle less tedious . P4 cast character development also sounds weaker compared to P3, and because I'm not interested in grindfests I'm not going to play the first three Persona games, even though they don't have the social sim aspect which I loathe (the commu system is probably what I hated the most in P3).
I've never played an SMT franchise game before P3 so I'm looking at other titles. I might try out Nocturne after this.

It wasn't removed. It's just optional. You can play through Persona 4 the exact same way you did in Persona 3.

I find this game to be the height of comfort.

If i do, it's mostly for PS1 games. I never really liked the PS2 exclusives i tried, and multiplats i'd rather play on GC or Xbox. Probably going to play DQ8 later if i can stop procrastinating long enough to get the PS2 off the shelf.

With uLaunchElf being able to communicate between PS2 storage and USB, does anyone know if it's possible to use it to backup/restore save files to and from the memory card and a flash drive? Or are there any particular locks that prevent imported saves from being used/saves being exported in a usable format that would have to be worked around?

I have only done it with PS1 games and going the other way: I started playing King's Field on a hacked PSP and finished on a real PS1. I used uLaunchElf to copy the save file to a real memory card.
I tried to backup and restore a PS2 save once but I did not succeed, although I didn't try very hard. Maybe that particular save was protected with magicgate or something.

You can use uLaunchElf to copy the save directories to your flash drive. From each directory you can rebuild the save (manually) using PS2 Save Builder. I haven't been able to find any tool that can backup and rebuild the saves automatically from the memory card's file system without plugging the memory card directly into your PC with an adapter.

So the eboot save file still registered as legit despite the difference in game format (eboot to iso or cue/bin)?

Might look into that. Thanks.

On the PSP the save files are stored separately from the game in a virtual memory card. There is some software to read these virtual memory cards and dump individual save files from them. I dumped the save file I wanted in the raw format, copied to an USB stick and then used ULE to copy it to a real PS1 memory card.
