I'm looking for suggesting on a good tactical RPG for one of these platforms: gbc, gba, snes, or ps 1, 2 or 3, preferably the first 3. But if there is a good one on other platforms, I would be interested to hear about it anyway, even though I can't emulate it.

Im a fan of all FF Tactics games, and all ogre series games. In my opinion, these games are the gold standard.

I liked Valkyria Chronicles a lot, but I thought the game lacked character customization and did not have many tactical options for how to win. Also, the cute girls fighting world war 2 thing was stupid, but I got the game when I was 16, when I was still stupid.

Also, if you say Metal Gear Ac!d was amazing, I will follow your suggestions without question.

I don't care if the game has a medieval or sci-fi theme or whatever. Most of the tactics games about modern warfare I've seen have lacked luster, (that Tom Clancy game on PSP specifically), but I would love to play one that was well made.

I will add that I prefer JRPGs to Western ones, but 90 of JRPGs are garbage. However, I don't believe that the popular ones are always the best.

Also, don't suggest Fire Emblem. Or Disgaea. Old fire emblem games have frustrating quality of life issues. And Disgaea is stupidly complicated and requires waaaay too many hours of grinding.

The Super Robot Wars games are pretty good, although they require a bit of knowledge on the different anime entries present in order to fully enjoy the crossovers interactions and fanservice. The Original Generation (OG) is nothing but OCs but it's best to start with the first titles for this one, either the SNES version that got a english fanpatch or the PSP remakes that are jap-only.

Super Robot Wars V (PS4/Vita), X (PS4/Vita) and T (PS4/Switch) are good entry games for starters, with an official english translation in the Asia versions to boot.

Super Robot Wars A Portable (PSP) is "bite the pillow we're going in dry"-tier, with all the bosses (except in certain scenarios) retreating once their health goes below a certain amount thus preventing you to get more funds (to upgrade your robots and weapons) and items.

I forgot to add a last point, SRW A Portable relies a lot on combo/support attacks that are a recurrent gameplay mechanic in the serie. Basically once you and the enemy have finished attacking within the same battle sequence, an adjacent unit (that didnt act yet on the map) may join the current battle to give extra free damage.

What QoL features are you missing in "old" Fire Emblem? There's a patch for the GBA games to make Select show the range of all enemies and highlight the ones with particularly dangerous weapons (killer, ___slayers ect.).

Jagged Alliance 2 and Silent Storm are pretty good. Depending on how RPG you're willing to get, Temple of Elemental Evil may count.

For Nipponese stuff Flight Plan's stuff was pretty good

>Summon Night series

>Black/Matrix

>Eternal Poison

Front Mission (SNES, get the fan translation) and Front Mission 2 (PS).

9097fe  No.16495079

Alchemy Master is the best one, and there is Castle Master if you can work moon runes through something like chiitranslite.

Front Mission 4 was pretty good. There are two different teams you swap back and forth between. The main mechanic is that you link characters to each other so attacking with one will have the others attack also; while weapons use more action points the longer their range. You put together mechs from parts with weight restricted by power. A bunch of levels have extra equipment if you manage a harder objective than just beating them.

Reminder: This was a tactic to derail threads back when goons were "trying to take down hatechan for anita" like good little chucklecucks and now faggots like this guy parrot it either without knowing or because they are cucks themselves.

Little column A, little column B. Started out as a useful tool to point out and shame newfags after freddit breddit threw open the gates to the shitskin hordes. Like most things, it was eventually ran into the ground and began to primarily be used as a low-effort way to derail threads and shit up on-topic posts instead of posting an actual argument. Polite sage.

You can derail a thread with literally anything if you're enough of a faggot. Reddit spacing is absolutely a real thing and a good way to spot crossposters and newfags.

Yggdra Union. It suffers from a really bad case of "you didn't know what's gonna be three stages ahead haha get fucked now", but if you can get through the game regardless it'll grow on you.
