This game was fucking amazing and the Elevator Action series as a whole was great, It's really fucking sad that Taito/SquareEnix is sitting on top of the IP without using for nothing.

1. It has nothing to do with Natsume

2. Taito has remixed the original Elevator Action a few times since Returns but they always neglect Returns itself

3. Wild Guns remaster was a DRM-crippled piece of shit, fuck you and fuck Natsume

SE bought out Taito for their tech division, they don't and won't give a shit for obscure arcade games that would tie up 10-20 personnel for six months to remaster. SE will do the bare minimum of re-releases to retain their trademarks, but those are chosen by how easy they are to port.

A modern port would be nice, the game does deserve a lot more recognition. The Outfoxies too would be a great target for a port. At the same time I can just play it on my Saturn and it's far more fun playing with a friend side by side watching levels blow apart dynamically and taking those slick feeling shots.

They're probably keep making remakes/ports like that if the new Ninja Warriors sells as much as Wild Guns. I could see Elevator Action or Space Invaders being the next one since besides those Bubble Bobble, KiKi KaiKai and Densha de Go are their most well known IPs

Wild Guns and Ninja Warriors were Natsume. EAReturns was Taito. So probably no chance.

It is a fantastic game though, and you can emulate both the Arcade version and the Saturn version with redbook audio.

While i'm at it - Yasuhisa Watanabe did the OST and he's one of the greatest game composers in existance.
