Has a game ever filled you with true sadness or ennui?
What did it take to move you?
1efcb7 No.16467967
If a game make me feel sadness or ennui, I turn it off and throw it away, so I generally don't remember what they were called. Life is misery, games exist as an escape. They should all be as happy and distracting as possible, at least as far as me playing them goes. You folks with happy lives that need to play misery simulators to know what sadness feels like…well, good for you, enjoy them I guess.

During gameplay not many, but one exception would be I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, especially Benny's arc. It's extremely bleak.
But if you count endings, number 1 would be Terranigma's ending. It's more bittersweet than bad or depressing, but it let me in a really down mood.

The 3rd birthday, and not in a good way. Even discounting how it shat on Parasite Eve, it was just so relentlessly dour and mean-spirited, not unlike Drakengard, but without the creativity.
If you mean sad as in intended by the creators instead of just being a parade of unfun fuck ups, Yomawari 1 and 2. Seeing little girls at the height of their innocence and naïveté get confronted to the reality of death is simple but effective.

Homeworld 1, after the first jump and again when my hard drive died before I could finish the last mission.
CoH 1 when my poor little germans were getting murdered by mg and mortar fire. sad feels.
DoW 2,3 when they came out and sucked. sad and angry-sad.
A player should never ever play a game that gives ennui. a game should be exciting.
So many sad spots in Red Alert 1 and Dune series.

Aside from a sense of "what now?" that you get when a spectacular game is over with, it's rare that a game makes me feel sad.
There was this one substory in Yakuza 0 that had a former criminal change his face to protect his family from yakuza. Even after everything's done the guy's family still sees him as a stranger.

It's a fucking fantastic feeling to say "fuck you, not good enough" and actually one up the wannabe magnificient bastard. It also ties up Riki's arc of trying to catch up to how cool the guy is by actually surpassing him.

Fixed that for you. The only reason you can't find happiness outside of your next fix is you. Get off the computer and go do something. Find a different hobby.
>muh crippling depression
You're depressed because you're constantly worried about shit outside your control, in addition to being on here too often. You need to learn to accept that bad thoughts and shit happening are a part of life, and that there's no point in concerning yourself with them all day.
Because even if you continue to try and escape, it'll catch up with you. At that point, you'll be unprepared to deal with those feelings. But if you try to accept it now, you'll be able to deal with bad thoughts throughout your life.
Learn how to be at peace with this world or it'll kill you.

The ending of AssCreed Black flag almost made me cry because all the 40 hours or so that the game lasts you are doing pirate things and then suddenly you see that all is over and wont come back, you killed a lot of other pirates, other were dead any other way, and you leave your old life back.
Sadly this content is after 40 Hours of gameplay of a repetitive game plus the sections at the office of abstergo. This scene really impacted me but I wont re-live it because of all that effort.
