Although single-dev games (like this and Cave Story) are demanding to make, the greatest benefit to being a sole creator is having Full creative control over how your game looks, sounds, and plays. I'd rather discuss the idea that having to compromise on a vision is a bad thing. Sometimes a dev's vision fucking sucks and there needs to be someone to step in and stop them from fucking shit up. As an example refer to most of gaming's history where it's revealed a publisher had to stop a lead dev from being a retard.
I know a guy who went solo and became impossible to discuss his concept with. He'd make choices and act like he was revolutionary when he was normally just doing stuff that wasn't done because it had been tried before and didn't work.
As an artistic expression, sure don't compromise on your vision. But if you're trying to make something that'll sell, then you'll likely need to retool your concepts.

The character art's bad, the story's edgy and minmaxing's verboten. At least the fluid combat is perhaps overly unrestricted and allows for stupid mobility and even infinite flight. It's more fun getting any if not all the collectibles before you get the requisite powers you're supposed to have to reach them by abusing those mechanics. By the time you get sick of the repetitive combat, you can just fly over entire screens.
Music, the general setting and background art are breddy gud, if a little imperfect for gameplay.

The game is lukewarm at best. It can be fun at times but it's mostly a linear beat em' up with only 3 viable moves.
The characters are absolute shit, being generic in every way. Fine if you like Kirito but as a furry.
I'll excuse the furfag elements as they don't have that much of a effect on anything really.
The art is pretty good, music is fine but some areas get repetitive.
There is little enemy variety, the entire end game just keeps shoving you with the 1 or 2 types of enemies the entire time. Gets rather boring.

Character animations and design of the characters/enemies don't match up well at all with the backgrounds.
