Honestly, after replaying The Golden recently she's barely in the game at all. Most people seem to have conflated The Golden anime with the actual game, where she is inserted into every plot. Marie only got bad when they started putting her in all the spinoffs. If anything, the P5 girl is going to be in way more of the game due to being in the real world plot and not locked away in the velvet room for 98% of the game, in addition to being a party member, which Marie never was.

Painfully correct. He came out with basic facts and knocked it out of the park in a third the time most others would. No wasted time, no embarrassing sketches or nonsense.
But we all knew Persona 5 was a rushed unfinished game from the start. Certain parts don't make sense (like the guy who helps the Phantaom Theives somehow not knowing who you are during the Hawaii event when long before that he already knew you, hence why he approached you with cases, his S.Link and such).
We knew the framing device of the interrogation was last minute in development because of how it keeps interrupting the narrative flow and spoiling future events and bosses clearly meant to be revealed as you go on in the game.
We knew Haru being Ms. Forgettable was plainly obvious evidence they rushed the last third of the game, and the fact that the entire narrative spirals down the drain with weaker dungeons, stupid asides and the characters becoming increasingly lacking in presence until Shido's dungeon (seriously, what did Anne do outside of the first dungeon. Tell me what she contributed even during the game's story).
Persona 5 is the Scooby Gang meets Kids Next Door, but with character models clearly designed after college students. Persona 4 had a lot of flaws but the cast was present throughout the story and even Parrot had a reason to exist after her dungeon was complete. Marie was obnoxious but people liked Adachi's S.Link for the gunpoint confrontation (and more Adachi was always good), but these additions were just that–additions.
Persona 5 Royal WILL be the Persona 5 game we expected to get from the start. I don't think they did this on purpose like the video suggested but rather that they were all over the place in figuring out what it was they even wanted, and since Igor's Jap voice actor died early mid-production (so it's said, he is dead though) that might have factored into it as well. Notice how the fake Igor sounds exactly like a fake Igor rather than being a convincing copy. It's ridiculous but only because they threw away subtlety when the guy died and didn't want to find another VA who could imitate his voice.
And that's not rare, either. Just look at Bloodborne's cut and hidden content. Look at how much was changed for the game and story at the 11th hour, even to change an important item's description after it was already released via patch. I have no doubt similar confusion and changes happened all throughout P5 as well.
P5R will be the "definitive" edition only because P5 was a bungled, rushed mess to begin with, and of course they released it that way because they knew they'd put out the proper edition sooner than later. I wouldn't be surprised if Royal was totally finished over a year ago.

Again, if she bugs you you can just not do her link and it would be no different than playing the vanilla game, except you'd have quality of life improvements and several new events during the main game, none of which feature or mention Marie. Finally in the epilogue she again shows up for 20 seconds on tv.
