What did Capcom think putting tank controls in a game like Onimusha would add to the game? I turned it on today and saw the current game I was playing got deleted. This whole week, my PS4 kept nagging me to download an update for another game. So I let it download it because the daily message got annoying. But apparently, because my PS4 didn't have enough space left, it had to delete something to make room for it.

I had to go back and delete old installed games I don't play anymore. Now I'm stuck here, reinstalling the game that got deleted. The only good news is that the game's save data wasn't erased. Thank god.

I remember the last time I played through a portion of Fallout 4 I used a mod that cut out every reference of your son in the written and spoken dialog, a mod that shut the main character up, a mod that added back full dialog choices and a mod that made the camera stay in first person during dialog. I remember immensely enjoying this compared to vanilla since you could spawn in certain places on the map at the start of the game choosing to be someone else other than the default main character and it would modify story dialog pretty convincingly and accordingly to what type of character you chose to roleplay as. I also had a mod that added a decently long and pretty well voice acted quest were you can become an Enclave soldier and help them build their base, there was even a point to were the Brotherhood of Steel would remain hostel towards you if you went any further in the quest.

I can think of several pre 2012 game that can and will make even a 1080 cry if you max them out so I wouldn't remove any and all performance consideration especially if you want high refresh rates.

As a baseline CPU and GPU.

You want the absolute highest single thread performance you can have (helps everything) and a reasonable amount of threads (more than 4 physical cores and HT for PS3 and some parts of PS2 emulation) to back it off with TSX support (for PS3 emulation), so right now a 8700k @ 5.2+Ghz is about as good and reasonable as you can get, a 9900k would be better if you could cool the thing but you really can't at those speeds unless you have a god-tier chip that will do it at sub 1.3v

Ryzen is good enough, for 90% of cases though, but Zen2 should make intel mostly irrelevant for 99% of cases (aka anything but TSX support) provided it delivers, you do still need good RAM that's fast with tight timings (3200 CL14 or better) and dual channel as it makes Ryzen behave better overall.

As for the GPU side this is where it gets complicated, baseline is if it requires OGL 4.X (PCSX2 although less so since now the DX renderer has caught up by quite a lot in accuracy, Citra, Yuzu, CEMU, exception being RPCS3 for the most part) you can't even think of using AMD unless you are ready to use the open source drivers on a linux install (which will still come with a big performance penalty in most case but still less slow and broken than the windows drivers), if it doesn't either is fine generally

Now for very specific things

If you want the lowest possible input lag you have to use an iGPU and linux with some very specific setup that involves DRM/KMS, granted it's pure autism over fractions of frames but still worth mentioning if you want to make a CRT based MAME cab.

PCSX2 is the weird one out, don't think anything is overkill if you have a 1080ti PCSX2 is the one thing that will bring it to it's knees (under some specific circumstances which generally involve very high IR multipliers and games that have weird quirks but still it's much easier to hit than you think) it has a lot of very unexpected bottlenecks from how it emulates a few effects so not only do you want 8GB of VRAM or more but you want the fastest possible bandwidth for it on top of that (meaning that yes under some circumstance the Radeon VII is probably faster than pretty much everything else),

Citra has a weird quirk where in some cases IGP will out-speed dedicated GPUs due to how transferring data from the CPU and GPU works in either case, it's rare but worth mentioning.

The rest of the system is barely relevant, emulators for more recent system do benefit a tiny bit from faster storage (RPCS3, CEMU) but not enough to justify anything over a good 7200RPM drive

RAM has very little impact (outside of Ryzen sytems) with the notable exception of system that require a massive shader cache to emulate games (CEMU, RPCS3, Yuzu, Citra etc) there it can do a lot more than one might think (I think I've seen claims of up to 50% in the worst cases when comparing DDR3 1333 vs 1866 but usually closer to 10-30%), and it also requires a lot more RAM if you have an Nvidia GPU due to how they handle shaders internally (as in a full shader cache for BotW will probably require 16 to 32GB instead 8GB with an AMD card, but then good luck finding an AMD card capable of running CEMU acceptably at all)

This is going to sound odd, but the Doom mod Colourful Hell. Like, its theme is palette swaps of existing monsters with colour corresponding to difficulty and general theme. Green is typically poisonous, blue is plasma, etc. The five basic colour variants aren't majorly different but also aren't just bigger numbers and it's enough for flavour. The real meat is the rare black-tier and white-tier which represent boss variants. Those are generally dramatically different from the standard, and most will kick your ass six ways from Sunday too. As one example, black-tier Imp has fast slightly homing fireballs but also slow ones that leave clouds that cause heavy damage and persist for a while, so you need to be careful to leave room to move. The white-tier Imp is a not-Archvile that summons ghost Imps of varying colours (yes that means you have a New Londo Ruins situation) and sometimes attacks directly with a mass spread of their fireballs. On top of that there's a few optional tiers with their own quirks but most of those are annoying and really difficult to deal with especially early on.

Note that this isn't fully intended as a fair mod. The RNG can and will cause fuck-you situations, so ideally play it on maps with fast power progression. It's also best played with a weapon mod of some sort since the vanilla weapons are outclassed unless you're a Doom god. The CH thread lists a few good ones but I'd nominate Hearts of Demons Baron. There's also other monster mods but for the most part they don't stray very far from the originals with their variants.

Also does anyone have a link to the Doom mod video that someone here made? I don't have their chart either.

I think their drivers are fine. And I think the good build should be alright if you're fine with turning down a few settings. Also take a look at the vega 56 if thats in your price range.

A word of caution though, I've heard that amd cards are not as good for emulation as nvidia. Do some searches and look into it. It might only be true for specific emulators or it might just be nvidia shills, I don't know.

As always, it depends in what style of gameplay you like. Mystic Knight you can opt either to enchant your weapon and go to town with Grigori, in which case I recommend Dark Element as Grigori is one of the few enemies weak to it. You can also use Dark Element and the magic Cannon to devastate the guy, and also pretty good to hit him out of the skies. Assassin can't tell as much, but bow is always good, climbing is good and countering is great. Add some climbing and it can be pretty impressive to kill the dragon just by being a fucking amazing swordman, though run like hell when Grigori starts using magic, because you won't be able to block/parry spells like the Mystic Knight

CDR, sound, video, epsxe version. The default CDR for epsxe requires the .cue to be mounted and then ran as if it were a physically inserted CD. Sound comes next because it requires the configuration setup to be done right or it's all fucked up, personally I think the default sound plugins are pieces of shit and not worth your time. For video specifically Pete's drivers relies on frames and the framebuffer so it can cause unexpected problems with sound ques.

Epsxe version number is simply because even with the same plugin setup you can get significantly different results between each iteration with the same game.

If this sounds like too much work this is why people don't recommend epsxe. The two popular plugins for any version of epsxe older then 2.0.0 is Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9 and Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41 btw and if any game you wanna play is not in this list greenimp.epsxe.com/GreenImp-ePSXeDoc.html you shouldn't even bother with epsxe for it.

Generally only a handful of maps actually get played on bnet. However, which those maps are changes regularly.

You don't have to worry about being bad, because you'll learn the ropes pretty quick. Whatever is "popular" is often very retard oriented, and there's always a bunch of people that either are now or think they know how to play yet do the absolute opposite of "optimal".

That said, I don't know how much coop RPG maps get played these days. TDs are pretty iffy too, a lot of the popular ones are kinda shit. There's some good old ones that get played now and then, but the most-played stuff is always flavor of the week garbage.

The game's initial rollout has 6 complete characters, dozens of items, a bunch of areas (including secrets to be found), and tons of unlockables. The music is really good and not thin at all. Some of the lore logs are already in place too, though most things have placeholder text. I suppose I should point out that there is some budget limitation, so if some of the rumors about Zen2's pricing are serious, that's steep. Or is it simply because the price of older processors might go down once it comes out? I assume there's not a great need for an amazing processor if you're getting a middle range card anyway, since it will be bottlenecked to being "medium" or "high" settings at best because of the graphics card.

I put my piece of shit together four years ago, before crypto, so everything was easier. Only two games I've even run that were modern were A Tomato and Soulcalibur, and my bottleneck wasn't games, but moreso video editing.

looked into prices a few months back for myself, 2600x + board + ram would've been ~400€, ~200€ for the gpu. then he'd need a good PSU (definitely don't go cheap there), case/inputs/hdd, so another ~200€ + monitor unless he wants to use his tv.

you can probably go lower or with cheaper components, but the lower you go the sooner you have to upgrade again and cheaper in the worst case means more trouble. ram seems to come down to 2016 prices, that's something at least.

I'm still running a phenom, in theory you could get really cheap even with used parts, but especially new games want more cpu to the point it's flat out incompatible, imo not really worth it. makes more sense to wait a bit and get something solid that will work for a few years (without going full retard with "futureproofing")
