>"A bottomless Curse, a bottomless Sea. Accepting of all that there is, and can be"

For some reason this remains my most enjoyable end to a dlc or expansion. You go through a series of memories and discover the origin of all the shit in the main game was a dead elder god that washed up on some shitty fishing villages beach and started turning the villagers into fishmen which gave the nearby city the idea of experimenting with great one blood and transhumanism that would go horribly wrong.

But at the end its revealed that Kos had a child, something that should have been impossible since the whole point of the story was that the Great Ones reached a biological limit where they become immortal but sterile and were called to earth with the promise of surrogate children. You fight this newborn monster on a depressing beach and after a tense, reflex heavy fight you cut down the creature only for a shadowy figure to rise out of the body of the dead Great One. Attacking it causes it to 'die' and you get the message for killing a boss and it rolls down the beach like fog into the ocean and swims away with a parting line from a poem said by the last fishmen to not go feral and thats that.

It may seem unsatisfying but thats kind of the point. Lots of media does the Lovecraft through a pop culture lens dubbed 'funkocraft/cthulupop' that cleans it up and makes it a meme but true lovecraftian horror is all about the insignificance of man and how greater things occur in the cosmos and not only do we neither know about it or understand it but have no reason to because we are fleeting mayflys in the heat of our summer season. The mystery remains a mystery and the cosmos keeps spinning away indifferent to our human desire for knowledge, no matter how many eyes we have on the inside.

Just like how we never know what the source of the Colour Out of Space was, what made the Amigura Fault or the mystery of any other successful imitator that truly understood Lovecrafts work its never meant to be explained. A nightmare comes without rhyme or reason and then departs the way it came. You will never know, you are not meant to know and at best can only make an educated guess because man is small and his scope is painfully limited.

Or its all brainlet trash to pull out your ass in a youtube video where you go full georgio tsukolous.

Thats mine, whats yours?

the best ending to DLCs has yet to come

Both of Witcher 3's were great. Ringed City for DSIII was a satisfying end.

ending to TS: Firestorm

>that set up for the next game

>hints at full blown 3rd faction and Cabal's survival

>Earth is even more fucked, only a few years left for human survival

all got thrown out the window since C&C collapsed after that

Ringed City was the best I've played in years, then again I haven't gotten around to doing Old Hunters yet

Has to be Frozen Throne for me. Too bad the follow up was incredibly fucking disappointing.

I never even beat Darksouls 3, it was one step forward 2 steps back in design. I think I got to the dragonrider guy and just said fuck it.

There's not much to see in the base game ending. It's fucking boring past Ferron up to those twink brothers and then the finally is just "Remember Gwyn?" the boss.

Don't make me look up that farewell message and start crying, anon. God, that final message was fucking beautiful. It's also fitting considering we'll never getting writing that like in a Fallout game ever again

>Wait a moment. Before you go, I… we… hope you've enjoyed your stay. Farewells can be a time of sadness – letting go, difficult. As a guest of the Sierra Madre, you know that truth more than anyone. Frederick Sinclair believed that one's life could be made anew every day, that fortunes were more than the wealth in your hands. Love, life, family, those to care for and those who will care for you: to those who know these joys, the Sierra Madre holds little they don't already have. Out in the world, beyond these walls, that is your chance to begin again. I hope that you will return in happier times. Until then, the Sierra Madre, and I, will hold you in our hearts.

You can give it a shot but don't be surprised if the enemies seem like massive damage sponges. Thankfully 3 is fairly short so you could probably get back to where you were on a new file pretty quickly

>>16424221

I don't understand how you can get all the way to Dragonrider and then drop it when that's so close to the finale
