Hello /v/,
I'm interested in hosting local tournaments for various games that don't yet have any competitive following IRL. For those who are interested, I would like your insight on a few things that make up this venture. A scene is defined as a local or national or even international following.
1. In your opinion, what makes a game enjoyable to watch?
2. Do you think every game can have a fair and exciting PVP experience with house-rules that rid the match of OP or broken items/chars/maps?
3. If a game has no starting tournament scene, but does have an active pvp playerbase, does that tell you a scene could develop with enough time and spotlight?
4. What do grass-roots game scenes have that give them so much lasting power? Is it a good game? Is it the people? How do you think those scenes started?
5. Can a bad game become good with enough house-rules to balance it?
I appreciate all comments that participate in answering these questions. I will reply to the ones that offer insight and don't just shit up the thread. I look forward to reading from you.
