Is there a connection between the Anti-Slavers and the Blackshifters? Why would Tinfist allow the Blackshifters to run a hash manufacturing plant with enslaved southern hivers literally less than a mile away from Spring itself? I just started playing for the first time 2 days ago. Watched someone's start up guide and downloaded a few of the recommended mods hippity hippity, you're now my property and started out.
My first attempt I had just barely run out of the city as a human and was following some River North words when I was overtaken by a Bandit Gang. I tried swimming to get away from them because I thought they have more stuff than I do and should take a while to swim across. Too bad I didn't realize they still had bows and got an arrow to the gut and passed out from the pain, dying.
Second attempt at kenshi is going a lot better:
Went out to mine some iron and saw the group of starving bandits come after me this time. Decided to take refuge in the city while the guards took care of them. I managed to smack a bandit in the back of the head who's leg had been broken and was dragging himself to safety. The guards didn't outright kill anyone but all the bandits were uselessly on the ground bleeding out while I gleefully took clothing and weapons from them and sold it to the local barkeep.
In an interesting twist (probably the cannibalism mod I installed), he bought human flesh as well. That being the case, many of these bandits ended up dying outright as I got the meat from them (dying>dead as I take a chunk) and made a few cats (currency name). I had enough money to get a meat wrap (think meat burrito) and with my mining profits, bought a cheap katana and building materials to make my home in-town. I'm at day 3

I wouldn't recommend having a cannibalism mod installed. Being able to insta-kill any downed enemies changes the feel of combat. Not to mention that it makes it pretty awkward when you're selling slaves and the first thing the slavers do is top off their flesh, killing them. Outright death is actually relatively rare in normal combat. The most common way to die is to be eaten by an animal or bleed out from a cut off limb. But with the mod installed, any NPCs programmed to loot characters, like slavers or police. Become blood crazed maniacs who take no prisoners. I get the idea and the intent behind it, but it's just not that good in practice.

It runs okay, It's crashed now and then for me, and framerate is fine for me as long as shadows are off. The really infuriating thing is the pathfinding. I've got constant issues with people getting stuck, confused, phasing through walls, pathing outside my base only to remember that the walls run around the entire perimeter and turn around and walk all the way back, and other assorted things of that nature. Traveling through the swamps is always a pain in the neck for that reason, all the trees and pools of water throughout the zone cause all sorts of pathing problems. I've also found a particular rock on the swampside of the pass to flats/venge/bonelands that utterly breaks pathfinding completely. For whatever reason if you're telling your runners to just head to the other side of the pass, they will be utterly intimidated by the rock and unable to move until you manually tiptoe them around the rock.

Anyone using the recruit prisoners mod know of any sort of guide that explains the rng/requirements for each character type? I had hobbs and my main train up as sneak niggers to steal shit but I ended up at the swamp ninja hideout and stole shade and a few other women to train as my ninjas to steal more women. All ninjas (except the ones protecting tengu) are easy to recruit as you just need to follow their little sob story but I've become interested in shek women and can't seem to get a bead on what I need to say or do to recruit them since my first one. The steam discussion on the mod page is just a garbled mess.

Tbh it could be anything. Some prisoners require you to have a certain item in your inventory. Dust bandits require dried meat, the Bugmaster requires you to have a Megaraptor Horn, etc. Some types will only join you if your stats are higher than theirs. Holy nation durka durkas won't talk to women or xenos. When I recruited my sniperbot I had to go through an elaborate reboot RP, which basically amounted to blindly navigating theough a dialogue tree of random colors and numbers. Sometimes the dialogue gives you a hint, sometimes not. It's a fuckin' crapshoot man.

The occasional invasions are nothing compared to the constant stream of raptors trying to break down the gate which is a huge pain in the ass and they don't drop non-rotten meat. Using the largest available walls was probably a mistake as it has caused me all kinds of issues along with the fact I haven't quite gotten the hang of automating yet despite my defense being more than strong enough to repel anything at this point. Not sure if they're Mod walls or not but the walls in question are Defensive Wall B big1 and Defensive Gate B big2 if anyone's familiar and has build advice. Can't seem to put gunplanks on them and somehow a raptor has gotten on top of the gate that I can't reach, let alone being able to run around on top of the walls between parts. Wondering if I should rebuild it or not using a better and less fussy wall set.

Yeah Ive basically got a heavily armored sec team and an all thief rags away team going, plus "civilians" who are partly more competents than the actual standing force because they get shat on constantly and thus have all their stats and combat skills in the 40s.
I started out using Naginata Katanas across the board, but now Im replacing weapon loadouts to Nodachi + Merc Club for sec and a mixture of Springbat/Polearm + Wakizashi for the away team. Wakizashi have proven themself to be a great beak thing removal tool funnily enough despite Naginata Katana having a bonus vs animals the Wakizashi doesnt have.

I remember taking 5 Veterans with stats in the 60's and 10 newbies.
It's great training, the Veterans make sure the newbies don't stay down that long and don't risk their life too much.
A couple of tips:
>Bring a bag with prosthetics
Your newbies have no Toughness, that means taking a lot of damage and the odds of losing a limb are pratically guaranteed. Keep spares with you.

Screaming Niggas roam the roads, fight'em there. Pull newbies out back to camp. Even then, your camp will sometimes have a wandering, screaming imbecile pop in and call his friends.

Yeah, you brought a pack filled with food, you got your beds, you feel like you could stay her for a month watching the newbies getting beaten up.
But pay attention to the Vets: they'll get worn down. Very slowly, it might take a couple hundred screaming niggas, but as soon as one of them goes down, the other's aren't far behind. You should try to leave the forest BEFORE that happens. You don't want to know how hard it is to take them out if 2 or 3 of your vets go out. You'll crawl outta there beneath a rain of clubs and beatings. Could take days.
Also, there's a mod that expands them to have some funky disk-based armour, some of it worthwhile loot to sell but not too valuable that breaks the game. Also makes them stronger and more dangerous but that also means they're better for training.
And for the love of Narko: don't fucking settle there. You'll never finish building anything. They DO continously spawn, attack, spawn, attack and it never fucking ends. It might be a sick joke from the Dev's, but it fits. It's seriously hard to live there more than 5 days.

Currently investigating the fogmen, and by "investigating" I mean "genociding" and rescuing any and all drifters they happen to grab from who knows where, oddly enough upon rescuing one and declining their offer to join, they said something akin to "Thanks for the second chance" then suddenly attacked me.
Programming error or deliberate, we'll see as I continue to purge fogniggers with harmful pointy objects. Currently up to 4 rescues on this one death yard and I continue to place fogniggers on their own poles in order to attract the stupider of them to an easier grave.
There sure a lot of these poles, think I'm up to 20-40 filled now for this one spot.

Tried another kind of wall for the base but I'm still having issues, NPCs get stuck inside. I now have 2 Paladins stuck in the walls endlessly bitching about the sheks/hivers/skeletons. They continuously give orders to troops that aren't there on how they have to tattle on me, except they can't actually go anywhere. Personally I'd rather let them go so they can come back and provoke a fight only to get the shit stabbed out of them instead of chat spamming.
What are the walls that everyone is using for their bases? I'd rather avoid building walls a 4th time.

As part of my second phase of eradication and genocide of non-skellies and non-Greenlander/Scorchlanders, I attacked the Western Hive capital and killed the queen. The Meitou staff didn't drop, which I didn't realise at the time dropped from 'her'. Also other knockon effects in the FCS make all Western Hive locations apparently turn into Fogmen, and you get roving Western Hive bandits.
Mongrel also finally eats the big one and turns into a hellscape of Fogmen eating the Shinobi ninjas and the rest.
What the fuck? There didn't seem to be a way to genocide the new Fogmen as they appear to be a relentless tide of shit sweeping out of the fog.
Any tips for wiping them out?

Bit of a follow up for >>16365396 : For those who think it'd be neat to raise river/swamp raptors: Don't, way too slow to be useful even with the backpack mod boosts to speed. Even at high athletics they just can't keep up. I'd suggest using movement speed as a qualifier for what critters to raise, as there are hard limits. My limit is the crab which moves at 24 MPH with the backpack mod at max athletics.

Blood spider, Hunger rate of 10%, probably the lightest eater I've grabbed so far. It's downside is its extremely fragile limbs that make Hivers look tanky.
Unsure what it's got for speed as I haven't seen their backpack yet to grab it.
Skin Spider is about around Hivers level of durability, looks like it'll be about crab speed with the backpack but I'm not 100% on that. Eats 50%, also good.
Bonus: Grabbed a Skimmer: Eats a standard 100%. Looks like it has potential to move quickly, just got it and tossed on a backpack and it's got 20MPH at 25 Athletics.

Theres 2 things I noticed when figuring out propa farming:
1) A team of 4 farmers working the same tile is way more efficient than 4 farmers working 4 different tiles, that way you reduce the regrowth time to a minimum.
2) Higher tier dishes are way more nutrient dense. You can feed 3x more people with dustwiches than you can with chewsticks and bread that you would otherwise have, same goes for meatwraps and foodcubes. Wheat is basically non-negotiable when you want self-sufficiency. Ive got 8 workers in 2 groups, one working 10 cactus farms and one working 10 wheat farms, Ive got a fuckton of food and rum out of it to the point I can EXPORT food for money together with the rum.

What qualifies as "Running like ass?" Because silky smooth is the exception in this game. It's like stalker, mountain bladu, and dark souls had a three way and locked the child in the basement of their Arizona cabin. When I say dark souls, I don't mean le hard game meme, because both are really easy when you learn how to play them, but the atmosphere, especially the location pop-up noises and the oppressive silence. It does not generally run very well, especially with enhanced textures like I roll with. Try the compressed textures mod, apparently that helps. For reference, I'm running an Intel i7-7700K with a GTX 1070. It stutters and loads a lot, but I think it's just how the game is, unless you are having some major issues.

Found an incredible spot for a base as I was scouting locations for a secondary base to launch my ashlands expedition from. It's a small plateau near the shoreline just across from ashlands. It's cut off by a natura chokepoint and is littered with high quality ore. The only downside is the lack of fertility and the high level raids from the Crab Autists and the Reaver Niggers. But if you're settling that far southeast you should already have decent stats and hydroponic tech anyway, so it should be a non issue.
Oh, it's also out in the middle of fucking nowhere too. That may be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you're looking for.

Depends on if you are new to the game or new to building it's self. In either case, I usually just buy a house in a city, usually an L house, and set up there. Do most of my research and leveling of skills like smithing in a town. You don't have to worry about attacks or security and you are free to research. Then when you are nice and studied up then you can go out and set up a nice well set up base with all the nice defense and shit. As for where? There is no real answer to that. I suppose the easiest would be in holy nation territory. No real threats at all, just keep the women and non-humans out of sight on prayer day. Personally I like setting up in gut, because it's a nice and relaxing blue colour. Just gotta deal with beak niggers, and harpoons usually solve that problem. The swamp is also good, no taxes or anything. Though I suggest you get crossbows up quick and install sensible spider range mod. They also like to murder raiders and traders. So free goods. I'd also turn down raids in the settings a bit until you are comfortable with the mechanics. That's just me though, people do it differently, that's what's cool about this game, there is not one strict way to play. Other than stealth is retarded op and that's why I like making my own ninja clans.

Cute ninja girls are always fun. Gotta have a couple ninja chads to protect their smiles and when I'm operating in HN land, but I find it a lot more entertaining than a melee blob. Sneak in, knock people out, then start the fight on your terms. It's a lot more tactical. And for building, I usually try and find a really tall hill or somewhere with a very narrow approach, makes it much easier to defend. Makes it harder for the enemy when the game turns into stronghold. A fucking autistic mix of M&B, mad max, and naruto. Also make sure you get good corpse disposal set up early.

Funny story while I was going down there, I passed through Kral's Chosen base at New Kralia. I snuck in and was lockpicking and looting whatever I could until Burn the sneakbot got caught. The guards got themselves beat up for their attention, and Burn ran onto the roof to hide behind some barrels.
MEANWHILE two caravans arrived, one Western Hive trader and one Nomads Animal Trader. Both of them tried to go shopping in each of the buildings at night, making them very unwelcome and prompting beatdowns from the already weakened guards and Flying Bull. I took this chance to steal everything not nailed down.
Kral's Chosen got torn a new asshole by all this.

I'm currently at an impasse with the "holy" nation as they finally became hostile to me after I beat up and sent Seta away, a few raids later after I told them I'm not into their religion. Although I didn't kill him and even healed and tossed him out so he could come back and try again, the game acts as if he's dead.
They haven't sent more assholes for me to beat up ever since they officially became hostile to me, so I've taken to standing around in the middle of the roads and waiting for them to aggro me so I can beat them up.
I don't even bother looting them or anything, I just beat them up, and go on my way.
Currently at -51. I don't want to completely destroy their cities or anything, I just want them to keep trying to provoke me.

I guess I am the only one that had a good first impression with them. My first playthrough (attempt, rather.) was the nobodies start. I made a nice little group of humans, two guys, three girls. I started wandering around, and got attacked by dust niggers, then by other bandits. I ended up losing all but two, the main guy and his waifu. Then, attacked, again. Main man held the bloody crippled body of his waifu in his arms, ready to die when a fucking platoon of okran's finest came charging in and rofl stomped the bandits. The man then spoke to me, gave me food, healed me up, and gave me good wishes and went on his way. I carried my waifu to stack and put together a small house, living and trying to build a small store with my one armed waifu, forever grateful that okran's light shined on us on that black day. Had this happened in the desert, I would have pressed into slavery and my waifu would likely have died. So while their methods are kind of obnoxious, their hearts are in the right place, and for that they kinda have a special spot for me. even if working around them can be annoying, they are at least consistent. I don't need to worry about being enslaved, arrested, or sniped by some faggot noble, and nobody is making me kowtow. Of course, this is what I like about this game, there is no clear "Bad guy" it's realistic in that way, but I find the holy niggers are consistently willing to help and be kind, provided you are in line with their ideals.

There is officially do but make and pursue your own goals. If you've never played the game before I'd recommend "defeat a band of starving bandits with no permanent losses without outside help" your first goal. Scavaging fights and luring bandits to guards are two ways to make money to recruit people and equipment in pursuit of this. Note, character skill is miles more important than equipment, and getting knocked out makes you take less damage on the future.

Combat seems to be 60% animation speed, 40% skills and equipment, bonedogs are so OP because they just have to lunge forward to attack, no fancy movements and sword choreography.
Also, i am the only ones who thinks that chain mail armour is not worth it? they have too much stat penalties and gives little protection, it's only good for high level tanks, plate mail and leather under it seems to be more optimal.

(witch is where you might actually bother setting up a "fight club" to train under leveled recruits without having to grind threw the 1-25 without having there ass beat by now nonexistent factions.

Probably because you played by their rules, you know with a full human squad, the moment you hire/add an non human to the squad, itt doesn´t have to be with you face to face with the paladindus but listed on the squad tab, and you´ll get new responses from them: They will call you beast lover, or ask you to leave soon or simply "…" and they won´t give you food or medicines on the field anymore.
People hate the paladindus not because they don´t like skellies, women or anything no human but because their hate towards technology: You can´t have hemp farms because it will trigger the paladindus, you can´t pass throught their cities with Ancient books, engineers research, AI cores or even tech scrap like CPUs without mayhem… Despise them using walls and armor that requires you to research with those books.
Also on the same level the Holy Nation is by far the best crafted faction of the game, or it was, since it went 1.0 the holy temples are no longer ingame so right now i don´t know how to adquire the most funny books about okranism, exactly this two:

Alongside the other lore books, it implies that at some point of history the okranism was twisted: From believing in two gods of balance working in some kind of equilibrium, to one of them being subdued by the other. Also, inside the temples and the high inquisitors HQs you could loot hashish and bloodrum from the inquisitors/priests coffers before 1.0 a hint of the privileges of them implying they are the true leaders of the holy nation while the phoenix is nothing but a icon of strengh, not a true leader despise having the same stats as a high inquisitor.
I´m not sure why the temples were holohoaxed out of the holy nation with the interesting lore (Unless the dev is from Uk, that will explain it). But overall, people hate the three main factions since they will treat like shit unless you work hard, or cheese, in their favor. Only then they´ll appreciate you, give you a title and call you the best of the best.

is it easier yes is it harder not really, having a fuck that can dish out damage while taking hits is worth a ton early game getting your troop to starving bandit tier. and the bounty gives direction to your play threw (witch is something that newer players tend to struggle with) also it can be a free ticket to the rebirth training center with a 20k sign on bonus.

no, the weight is secondary to higher level characters and is nothing compared to high level blunt weapons (32kg for a top tier club) but the debuffs on armor stack rather quickly and i do believe the buffs/debufs are multiplicative not additive meaning 1.2 * 1.2 * Dex rather than (1 + 0.2 +0.2) * dex or in your case 0.8* 0.95 *0.49, and regretfully i believe i recall that the order in witch you equip equipment affects the order in witch the stat modifiers and armor are applied. but again just comments in the wiki. and you rarely go just chain mail you usually top it of with something far more substantial that the heart protector in the armor slot. you tend to diminish your stats far faster than would be worth the extra % chance to reduce damage by % yes armor in the game only applies if coverage % is triggered and it only reduces by blunt % efficiency or Cut % efficiency with the remainder of the later converted to blunt damage and bypassing the blunt resistance. all in all only good for spreading damage out to multiple hits if you are fighting a group where you never get to trigger you block chance/animation that negates 100% of damage.

if you start as a slave, just press sneak while jailed and you will train your sneak skill, its really easy since the exp is added by every NPC arround you and there loots of guars and other prisioners at rebirth, you can also train lockpicking with your shackles (you dont have to remove them when unlocked, so you can take them off when there are no guards watching you) also you can use other prisioners cages and shackles for more training, as a slave you should train lockpicks and sneak in the night and athletics in the day doing slave labor, drop your slave clothes since those are extra weight and when you start mining or labouring, click to move somewhere nearby, then your character willl choose another rock or machine to work, training your athetics.

I have built up a base in the foglands. No animals, only fogmen and their Holy Nation Outlaw captives.
Your best bet is to farm, and to do that grab at least 10 wheat from your next trip to Mongrel, Holy Nation farm towns or Stack as proximity allows. This will allow you to set up a small farm and make sure you have other food while you develop and plow wheat back into upgrading that farm.
There are the river raptors in the HN region, bone dogs there too and south. South also has beak shits and gorillos in Vain which are good for pounding your three people into fertiliser for that farm of yours.

My setup for armour is leather turtleneck and samurai clothpants for their lack of stat penalties and high coverage. Then black plate jacket for coverage and reasonably acceptable stat penalties, as its black there is no stealth penalty. Also the gasmasks and wooden sandals for that extra cover and weather bonus and GOING FAST.
