Well no shit. You could on any console if you wanted, too, providing the games support it. But almost none do. That's literally what his complaint was.

I go out of my way to not use this on games that allow it. I used to do it on fighting games, for example, but then when I would go to my friend's house I'd be fucked because the controls would feel "wrong." But no, I was wrong. I'll get used to the default controls and then I can play the game at a friend's house and not have to waste time customizing my own controls and looking like a bitch.

WASD is an awful control scheme for movement. I get people saying they want mouse controls instead of the right stick being used for a lot of things, but keyboard is really only useful if the game is suffering for lack of inputs, which only affects a few genres which are somewhat niche anyway. Also, mouse replacing right stick would be fine when right stick is then camera, but then you'd be sacrificing buttons unless your mouse has like eight buttons on it (which is how many inputs your right hand gets on a modern controller, plus moving the joystick). Then this is used for the justification of using a keyboard with your left hand, but then you're fucking yourself by replacing the analog movement of the left stick with WASD. Also I get triggered because W isn't actually directly above S, so it feels like I should be walking slightly to the left when I press it.
Also, the advantages to mice largely apply only to FPS and a couple other things. The genres I like are mostly from before joysticks anyway, so I don't give a shit. But they are shit to play on a keyboard.

From this angle, this pic looks like there's some sort of level you have to take a shit in a giant hole until it's filled, while hiding behind a giant block so nobody can see you.

The door times are incorporated into how fast you're expected to be able to speedrun it. If they could be skipped, the times would be different.

A lot of SNES games do work like american playstation games, though. Super Mario All Stars even let you change the controls to make the bottom button the equivalent of NES A instead.
It is stupid to ever change the controls though. I'll get used to it either way.

>Have you noticed that every platformer for the NES made in Japan is usually A to Jump, while the rest of the world was B?
Uh… no? It happened sometimes, but it was always shit, because it was always super rare. Americans were all copying Super Mario Bros. anyway.
NES isn't really even applicable to this argument because no button was on the "bottom."
