There's plenty and there are paid bullshit ones, but I typically just go for PSP games with PPSSPP, you can try RetroArch assuming it's updated now and isn't shit, it's the beginner-friendly one that supports a lot of emulation of old consoles and handhelds.

I've only used android as a Nintendo emulator for muh Pokemans.

There are very few good games, shmups are pretty good for mobile but good ones are rare so look around for those. FGO, GBF, Fire Emblem I thought it was pretty shit are seen as good. There was this one dungeon game where you have to build up a dungeon and protect it, that was a very good game but I don't remember the name for it sadly.

Honestly you're better off not bothering, most mobile games are trashy pay us to get more energy sort of games.

Emulating with a good phone can be pretty fun though, especially mobile games like pokemon.

The desktop experience isn't too bad. Some android apps aren't resizable and won't scale to full screen properly, and multitasking is gimped because most apps just outright stop / pause unless their window is in focus save for a few, mostly offered by Samsung. Aside from that, browsing the web and other basic tasks are possible. Being able to unplug your phone and keep doing whatever you where doing on the go can be handy.

OP, try Pixel Dungeon and then any of it's other branches. Shattered Pixel is a pretty good one but there are others that focus on specific gameplay and add new elements to the game. They make for decent roguelike experiences.

You can also try Card Thief. It's a game about being a sneaky magpie and stealing shit while juking and duking guards, dogs and owls. Plays more like a puzzle but it's very entertaining. No micro transactions beyond just buying the game but it's like 4$ for quite a lot of well done content.

I've also found a Catan apk once and the game was well done. Seemed like a battery hog though.

Agreed, it's kind of absurd that nothing like this ever came out after the Xperia Play. I understand it's a niche market but I'm sure there would be a sizeable enough market for at least one or two devices with this configuration from some second-tier chink phone brand. Look like they hate money.
