On holiday, got access to a Switch, looking for something to play.

Currently looking at

> Furi

> Gigantic Army

> Blaster Master Zero

> Dark Quest 2

> Alwa's Awakening

> Cosmic Star Heroine

Thoughts on these games?

I'm interested in Furi but the framerate has to be solid. Reviews at time of release mentioned drops, can't find info on whether it was patched properly.

There are plenty of games for the Switch, just look at my library.

Furi’s pretty great but havent played the switch version so cant speak to the framerate. Haven’t played the others though i think there was a blaster master thread up earlier this week. Don’t know enough about the rest.

That thread is still up.

Not many games. No backwards compatibility. My interest in it died pretty quickly.

Cosmic Star's great. Really good combat system that doesn't lend itself to endless repetition so the pacing of "dungeons" is weirdly quick. Otherwise it's the standard JRPG fare.

Since you'd deciding to play these games on a Nintendo platform, I'm going to go ahead and say that the first party titles like

>Mario Odyssey

>BOTW

>Kirby Star Allies

>DKC: Tropical Freeze

>SSBU

are all fun titles and worth checking out if you're pirating everything you play. If you're a good goy and buy your games then check out Splatoon 2 if you like third person shooters. Just remember that you need to shell out an extra $20 for online if you want to play it.

> Furi

> Gigantic Army

> Alwa's Awakening

> Cosmic Star Heroine

Never played them.

> Blaster Master Zero

If you liked the NES game, you'd probably like this. Imagine if Metroid had a map, that's the feeling you get from this game. The sequel is also good, better in some cases. Unlike the first game, the second makes all of the weapons almost equally as powerful so you can actually pick a weapon based on whatever play style you prefer and not just use the same wall and enemy piercing wave beam.

> Dark Quest 2

Going to say I'm bias towards point and click medieval games since I was basically raised by Runescape, but if you are too then Dark Quest 2 is a lot of fun.

b5bc5f  No.16329222

>>16329111

Thanks for that. Sounds like it's worth a shot.

>>16329187

Already played the majority of the first party stuff, now I'm looking for smaller games that work well in handheld mode for pick-up-and-play while I'm "on holiday" (actually baby-sitting for family for a fortnight but whatever, I'm not at home).

I did like the first Blaster Master and finished it, but I was over it by the time I got to the end. I'm not sure if more of the same will manage to keep my interest.

I'm interested in Dark Quest 2 because it reminds me of Hero Quest, but what does it actually play like?

41d426  No.16329251

If you only have access to a Switch for a limited time I assume, why would you spend it playing all those multiplat games? Play some Switch exclusives, it just makes more sense in a short timeframe.

I can only speak of Furi

>Furi

Is a boss rush game. It has three segments. The first is a walking simulator in between every boss, just to set the stage and drop some DEEPEST LORE. You can press a button to auto walk and they don't go further than 2 minutes as far as I remember.

The second is a twin stick shooter with some bullet hell elements. It's sweet. You can dodge(can be charged), block(works for a few projectiles), shoot(can be charged, charging reduces your movement speed), block(Works whenever they try to throw you off with melee attacks) and melee attack(for when you block). It relies mostly on dodging and I think it's the more intense part of the game since it usually either bombards you with lots of projectiles of various properties(homing, cannot be destroyed, splits into various projectiles on being destroyed, flat dodge only shock waves/lasers). It's in my opinion really fucking good, although there's a certain Sniper bitch who gave a lot of people trouble, me included.

The third and final part is a very simple melee game. You can block, dodge, attack or charge up your armor for a powerful swing. Basically you wait for them to attack, either with a melee string or a charged AoE attack(both have very obvious indicators, even though I feel the animation usually tells you where the AoEs are going to hit on their own) before attacking back, and you repeat that for usually 3~ combos of your own. Usually you'll parry all of the melee string before fighting back, since it's safer. They try to throw you off with breaks in the melee string, multi part attacks, unblockable grab attacks or whatever, but if you are crafty and have good timing you can interrupt their string while it's happening. You can also charge up your attack which works nice for those AoE atttacks, you deal lots of damage before doing an animation which deals more damage.

That's all I'll say about the game, because the artstyle and music is a vital part of it and you'll get all you need to know right from the first second of the first track.

As for how it runs on the switch, no clue.

I'd say it's worth it.

As for Gigantic Army, I haven't played it but I have heard it was similar to Assault Suits Valken, which I liked.

>I did like the first Blaster Master and finished it, but I was over it by the time I got to the end.

The game tries to keep if fresh by making all of the levels different planets, most of which are bite sized mini bosses or micro platformers, to try to keep the feeling of backtracking to a minimum while trying to make some of the bosses more interested be including some that require both in the ship and on foot gameplay. It's more like a 1.5 version of the first game, but not worth checking out if you're not ecstatic about the first one.

>I'm interested in Dark Quest 2 because it reminds me of Hero Quest

It plays like a point and click on console. You make your moves by using the analog on a top-side grid and select your targets with a single button. It's a very simple strategy game with a "grind for gold and buy the best stuff" system. Great for chilling out while the little guy watches cartoons.

what I currently have on my switch

>MHGU

Best game 10/10

>Bayonetta 1&2

came together Bayo1 better then 2 but both are great

>BotW

My favorite Zelda sense LTTP

>Mario Odyssey

A bit on the easy side, but all round fun game that is great to replay

>DK Tropical Freeze

10/10 platformer

>SSBU

Never was a big fan of Smash

>New SMB u

Competent 2D Mario just a bit uninspired formula. Nice difficulty level.

>SMK8

Kart racer that is fun with friends and family.

>Xenoblade Chronicles 2

One of the best contemporary JRPG's I've played in a long time.

>Mega Man 11

My favorite MM sense MMX

>Puyo Puyo Tetris Demo

Is a great demo, I don't even see the need of buying the full game.

>Kirby Star Allies

Comfy but way to easy (even for a Kirby game) so while fun in short burst long play sessions actually can induce narcolepsy.

>Dark Souls

Handheld DkS

>Umihar Kawase Fresh! Demo

Substantive Demo, I'm looking forward to the full game.

>VS. SMB

Playable but suffers from Input lag. The Leaderboards and time trials make it comfy to play for a quick game session.

>Monster Boy Demo

This game seems great. Need to pick this one up.

>Demon X Machina Demo

Has potential, not sure about it yet based on the demo.

>Captain Toad demo

Way too easy, hard pass despite its nice comfy aesthetic.

>Labyrinth of Refrain demo

Was a fun demo, but the game is on PC. Yet it also seem more like a Handheld game.

>BlazBlue: Central Fiction Demo

Ragna, Noel Vermillion, Jin Kisaragi, Es unlocked for a 1v1 match. Nice Demo.

>Yoshi's Crafted World Demo

Comfy but too easy. Going to have to pass because I like challenging games.

>Deltarune

It's trash, but free

>Octopath Traveler Demo

Wasn't sold on the game based on the Demo

>Valkyria 4 Demo

Fun demo.

I'm playing in handheld mode and I don't like the analogues on the joycons, too small and not enough travel, so I'd prefer 2D games.

I also don't want to spend more than $10-15 dollarydoos.

It is. It was originally a Vita game.

de34dc  No.16351102

has their been a switch revision yet that fixes all the problems from launch models?

eaed58  No.16351105

Try the Umihara Kawase Fresh demo (requires JP account to download, takes 2 minutes to setup) and play Tetris 99.

Amazon.de currently has a deal where you can get five Switch games for 150 euros (around $180-190 with shipping)

Since it's region-free, anons might wanna pick some stuff up if you're not willing to hack for whatever reason.

https://www.amazon.de/gp/promotion/A14GKM87VNXE5N?&_encoding=UTF8&tag=nothyn-21&linkCode=ur2&linkId=e6026803efb9da4cd928e4be24904ab6&camp=1638&creative=6742

Take note, you have to select Amazon.de as the supplier, it will automatically default to third party venders, and the deal will not apply. That, and some games have sold out (at least Yoshi has).

Game list is as follows:

<Yoshi

>Smash

>Mario Party

>MK8D

>Pokemon LG Pikachu

>NSMBU

>BOTW

>Freeze Dong

>Mario Tennis

>Kirby Star Allies

>1-2 Switch

>Pokken

>Nintendo Labo sets 1 or 3\

>Tales of Vesperia

>Bayonetta 1+2

>Dragon Quest Builders

>Wolfenstein II

>DooD

Also, Europoors have a deal on the E-shop for the following (copy-pasted)

Arms – 33% off

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy – 34% off

Dark Souls Remastered – 30% off

Diablo III: Eternal Collection – 30% off

Doom – 50% off

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – 50% off

L.A. Noire – 66% off

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 30% off

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle – 50% off

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate – 42% off

Octopath Traveler – 33% off

Super Mario Odyssey – 33% off

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus – 33% off

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – 33% off

Both are available for two weeks, I think. The advantage of Amazon is that it's physical copies. Second pic related.

Sage for boderline shilling.

I should make a sidenote, you can get Europoor discounts by changing your Nintendo account's region to Europe. Ideally, do Sweden, from what I could find, they have the lowest pricings (nearly identical to US dollar amounts) and still have the exact same E-shop discounts.

Dragon Fang Z Rose and the Dungeon of Time. It's a rogue-like where you are a cute dragon girl exploring dungeons.
