I have a real aids deck right now.

1 priest of forgotten gods, and reassembling skeletons.

I sacrifice 2 cards, get 2 black mana, draw a card, due 2 damage to enemy, and they have to sacrifice a card.

Several other cards which sacrifice and have cheap mana, along with call of the grave which gives 2/2 tokens for every card that is removed from battlefield.

Also planeswalkers are aids.

I got out a few months ago. I stayed far away from standard but that still wasn't enough to mitigate distaste for what the game had become. Sold my entire collection to a rich friend. I now have 0 debt, nearly $10,000 in savings and no regrets. Held on to my reanimator deck as a keepsake though.

I put up with it for probably a month, then quit on account of this game being a bollocks kind of rock paper scissors and every faggot game against esper control took a half hour to lose. But, yes, I did notice how many of the """white""" cards were niggers. The black cards are white though, funnily enough. I played mono blue though so it didn't concern me, but, yeah, they definitely have issues with their shuffler and the mana pockets are especially egregious when you have five islands stuck together in a 60 card deck with only 21 islands to start with.

I'm not talking about trying to fool people with fake cards, I am talking about flooding the market with them so that the average player can play with good cards without paying hundreds or thousands of dollars for them. This is no different in my mind than ordering Games Workshop knockoff models, and for the same reason: Because the parent company is gouging their customers while running their game into the ground. I am not promoting selling counterfeit cards as real in any way, I am promoting letting people play the game without getting gouged by a company that no longer cares about them. Beyond that, the fakes are continually increasing in quality while WotC lets their production standards drop. If current trends continue then the fakes will end up at a higher quality level than the real cards themselves.

Not that I've ever really gotten into TCGs much, but if I ran a tourney, I wouldn't give two shits about players running fake cards. The only meaningful difference between real and fake is who printed them; beyond that, they're both just representations of the same concept: a monster, a spell, or what have you. Players should be able to run whatever deck they wish, without having to get gouged for tens or hundreds of dollars just to get the rare and powerful cards they need. Hell, if someone wanted to just print out their cards on computer paper, I wouldn't care.

Obviously that sort of shit wouldn't fly at an "official" tourney, but that's solely due to profit-seeking, and not for any made-up reasons like "integrity" or what have you. WotC needs people dropping hundreds of dollars on boosters on the off-chance they get that one rare card, and anyone just being able to print out the rares would ruin their entire business model. If people weren't so greedy and trying to get the maximum buck out of their piece of cardboard the boosters themselves wouldn't hold their price at all. It's stupid, because Magic is balanced around the fact that you have to pre-arrange your cards in an even distribution before shuffling, and that shuffling won't make it 100% random.

So when digital comes out with its pseudo-random shuffling, game balance breaks apart and you're forced to play cheap mana fixing/cantrips for a deck to even work. The "scry on mulligan" doesn't even begin to fix the problem.

The only solution I envision is a system to guarantee a few land draws if you get screwed. However, that'd potentially make combo decks even more broken than they are today.

This is ultimately why I stopped playing Magic. I can't even remember the straw that broke the camel's back, but I'd get excited for a set, digest the whole spoiler, and nothing. None of the cards seemed appealing. I'd get excited for a second on one of them, then re-read it and realize it's shit. I'd constantly think "if only they tweaked the verbage here" or "if only it cost 1 less". There'd be, at most, a couple cards in the set that I'd find attractive, but not enough to bother with.

Actually I think Unstable was the last straw. When I realized that it's absolutely no different from the other sets they put out with just a couple quirky cards here and there.

Ultimately I left because their formula became stagnant and the design team extremely risk adverse.

I could see wanting to play if the "economy" of the game was fair, like obtaining all the cards for a flat amount per expansion, or even getting a free digital pack for every physical pack you buy, but this is the absolute worst monetization model out there for any of these card games (yes even worse than hearthstone and articrap).

The reason I say this is:

Just wait until the first sets rotate out of standard and you can't dust or sell shit. You not only lose the ability to use your cards in the most popular format, but you get nothing for all that time and money invested. The only thing they've promised you for your collection is a fucking meme mode nicknamed "Arena Modern".

MTGA is already one of the less played of the digital card game meme, I can't imagine most people staying when they lose HALF of their collection to the format switch later this year.

Knocking out dailies a few times a week has gotten me all the meta decks i care about on arena. If I could draft to save my life i'ld have the ones i don't care about as well. In HS a similarly low level of involvement didn't even net me a playable deck before their expansion came around.

Arena is generous by free2grind standards, even without considering what jews wotc are.
