I got really confused when i started playing the game and it was not that much different from TES:Oblivion but with better character design and less RPG mechanics.

This is what I was worried about. I never looked the game up I just know the sandbox element is a bigger focus than the previous games. I just want to play another Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess, with a nice little story and temples. I'd honestly just like to play Twilight Princess again but whenever I play old games I remember when I was younger and that makes me want to kill myself.

What it is is a boring game with not much to do. I've played it enough to know what I'm talking about. You ride or walk around fighting the same 3 enemies for hours on end. The only content there is to discover are shrines or korok seeds. The rewards for most every quest is usually just discovering another shrine or a weapon that will break after fighting one or maybe two enemies with it.

Get your head out of your ass and try looking at something critically for once.

I remember getting to the final Ganon boss and wondering what difference the Divine Beasts would make. You'd think they're a requirement (lore-wise anyway) but you can just ignore them since all they do is cut the boss's health down. The final boss was so bad it's possible just to stock up on explosive/ancient arrows and full-heal meals it becomes a joke.

Eventide island was one of the only other explicitly good parts of the game I can remember.

It starts being fun when you stop giving a fuck and learn all the whacky shit you can fuck with

An abbreviated list

1. shooting electric weapons next to blu chu jels

2.Spin attacking near anything metal with the great thunderblade

3. Temperature clothing is nearly completely uneccesary with a fire and ice greatsword

4. They didn't playtest ANYTHING with octoballoons

5. Be prepared to be disappointed they didn't make a basic "Arrow" rune.

Oh also if you go to eventide island, drop some shit on the boat before you actually get on the island.

Fucking with the mechanics was the only good part of the game. I'm glad the devs didn't force intended paths, and let the game be broken if the player is creative enough. Seems like all the shrines and many quests are just outlets to experiment, not challenges or plot or whatever.

Good game? Loads. Nier, Dark Souls 3, Cup Head, Breath of the Wild. You can argue that not all of those games are great, but they're all good at the very least.

Those are just games I've played, and I don't play that many games now. On my "get around to" list I have Mario Odyssey, Sekiro, Splatoon 2, Valkyria Chronicles 4, REmake 2, DMCV, Darksiders 3, Smash Bros Ultimate, Gravity Rush 2. Probably a lot of other things that are slipping my mind right now.

If none of that sounds appealing, maybe you just need to admit you don't like video games anymore.

Well, in the sense of how much work it would take to make it fun I disagree. A flat out shit game is either unsalvagable or just not worth fixing but boring things like BotW here really only need a few things, better soundtrack, more enemies, actual fucking dungeons, and it would be at least a 7 or 8 out of 10.
